This is China and with a population of 1 billion people expect to be crowded from their local tourists. Can by pushy and noisy, so be warned.
You can buy your tickets online but you may need your hotel staff to assist as tickets are bought through an apps and passport or ID is required for each ticket holder. Worst case, go to the park ticket booth but bring along your passport to purchase the tickets. Alternatively, ask for assistance from the park staff at the entry point and you have to reimburse the ticket purchase with cash.
Go to the park at 7.30am and you will see much more activity but park gets crowded even at that hour. There is a Macdonald’s and other restaurants inside and outside the park.
We took a taxi (30rmb) ride from downtown to the park, safe the trouble of a metro ride and bus ride to the park entrance.
Pay 30 rmb for the buggy ride, ticket is bought inside the park (this is a huge park and the pandas are scatter at various corners), and don’t bother to walk because the park gets crowded. Head straight for the Sun and Moon nursery. The other sites can wait. You can walk the park after you have done the key sites. Panda base 6 - is the most crowded as it’s the local star celebrity panda.
Go in the afternoon (after 11am), if u want to see the pandas sleeping. Go after 3pm and there is no crowd.
The best season to see cubs is in the summer months from July onwards.

We took the bus, boat and cable car up and back, but there are still a lot of stairs to climb. My Fitbit noted just under 5 miles total there and back from main gate. There are plenty of stalls for food and drink and places to rest, take time and enjoy the views through the trees! We were lucky to have dry but cool weather making climbing easier. There are various maps posted further up the mountain making it easy to check progress. We only have cash and found it easy to buy the various extra tickets. Over 60’s free into park, adults 80. Bus 10. Boat 5 cable car 60 return or can get single if walking one way. - Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore9,824 contributionsThis is a lovely "ancient" shopping street located right next to the Wuhou Ci (Wu Hou Shrine Temple of Marquis) where many ancient building structures, historical shop/tea houses along the tiny walklanes and bridges, where you will find like walking into the memory lane of ancient China, though a little touristy.
There are many eateries, restaurants and food booths here, with local and international cusines and you will be spoiled for choices, not to mention, many shops selling souvenirs and local delicacies, arts and handicrafts etc. There's also an open air teahouse where you can enjoy live singing performances (2pm-8pm) while having your drinks under the trees and clear blue sky.
If you come in the evening, that will be perfect as the area wil be lit with many beautiful red lanterns along the walklanes and bridges. Free entry, just had to show green code. Lots of little buildings and walk ways to go around. You can light a candle in memory, or for reflection. The exit gate leads you to a beautiful pedestrian street with various small restaurants and shops. Lovely place to sit and relax for a while, feels like a bit of an escape! - Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore9,824 contributionsThis is probably one of the "must visit" places in Chengdu and making a trip here can allow you to indulge the local history, food and arts culture, and of course lifestyle of the people here. The old shophouses located on both sides on the small walking paths, have been given a refurnished with a new lease of life, signaling the young and energy vibes of the city. These shophouses (also the makeshift stalls) are now mainly retail businesses, selling local souvenirs, toys, arts and handicrafts, foods and drinks etc.
Because of these, the place is very crowded as lots of visitors and also quite touristy. All the while, we have read stories (or in history books) about the three kingdom, also having watched the TV serials and movies about it, what is better than personally coming by to see the real artifacts, displays and figures on display. There are so many things to see and you will feel that you have traveled back in time to the then era!
I like the back gardens (peach gardens) where you can see the beautiful peach trees with flowers, the figurines of the three sworn brothers and the founding, prosperiy and demise of the Shu kingdom. Very detailed and realistic and generally if you are a fan and want to have a sight of everything, you will need simply a day.
For me, due to the rushing schedule, I only spent about 2~3 hrs here before heading to the next destination but it's surely worth visiting.

There are many trees and beautiful flowers around this big park, with the nice and cute dragon displays (it's the year of the dragon) with artful landscaping, bonsai garden, tea houses, kiddie amusement rides, a pond with row and motor boats. It is tranquil.
And there are monuments to commemorate those who perished during the Xinhai Revoluntionaries and Anti-Japanese era.

There are many international brand and boutique stores located here (together with some local brands and shopping centers) and if you are a shopaholic or fancy these branded goods, here is the place to go.
And there are also many eateries and restaurants, be it local or foreign, you will have ample food options and choices.
Also from here, you can walk to the IFS to see the great panda display or should you need to take the airport shuttle bus, here is where you should go.
