The necessary procedures after the arrival on an international flight, immigration procedure and customs inspection required to enter the arrival lobby, and the process of receiving your baggage are described below.

1.Arrive at the airport

Different terminals are used depending on flights. Check your terminal by flight search.

2.Quarantine

Follow the instructions to proceed to the quarantine counter. Quarantine questionnaires are distributed onboard the aircraft. Fill them out and present them to the quarantine counter upon arrival.

Persons experiencing diarrhea or fever, or who are otherwise feeling unwell should notify a quarantine inspector or visit the Health Consultation Room.

3.Immigration

Present your passport at the immigration counter.

* If you use the facial recognition gate or automated gate, you will receive no stamp on your passport. Please consult with staff if you want a stamp.

4.Baggage claim

Check the airline name and flight number on the display, and go to the baggage carousel.

Please check the baggage claim ticket that you received when checking your baggage to make sure that you have your own baggage.

If you have a lot of baggage, you can use any available baggage cart near the baggage carousel.

5.Plant and animal quarantine

If you wish to bring plants (fruit, seeds, vegetables) or animal products (meat products like ham and sausage) into Japan, you must submit various documentation at the plant and animal quarantine counter and have your items subject to inspection.

6.Customs inspection

All passengers arriving in the country must present a personal effects and unaccompanied articles declaration form. Fill out the form to list items you purchased overseas and items you were given as gifts or with which you were entrusted.

Passengers shipping unaccompanied articles must file two copies of the personal effects and unaccompanied articles declaration form.

The inspection table differs depending on whether the articles exceed the tax exemption limit.

  • Passengers who carry articles exceeding the tax exemption limit undergo inspection at the green inspection table.
  • Passengers who are not sure whether their articles exceed the tax exemption limit undergo inspection at the red inspection table.

Automated procedure using the electronic declaration app

Using the electronic declaration gate at the security checkpoint, you can electronically submit a personal effects and unaccompanied articles declaration form while you are waiting for your baggage on the baggage carousel, then you do not need to submit a written declaration form. If you proceed to the electronic declaration gate after receiving your baggage, you can pass through the gate smoothly

7.Proceed to the arrival lobby

After you finish customs inspection, proceed to the arrival lobby, following instructions.
