Having a very hard time finding the right hotel that would keep a very active 8-year-old busy. We were originally looking for AI, but that really doesn't matter. If we were sans kid, my wife and I would most likely get a rental in the city and eat locally. What are the best kid friendly hotels (AI or not) that my daughter would go bonkers for. I think we'd rather stay nearer to the city to experience local cuisine but if there's a great AI further out, that would work also. Greatly appreciate the suggestions.

Do you have a budget in mind? The Buenaventura Grand or the Playa Los Arcos might work well for you. The BG is just North or the Malecon so pretty easy walk to Centro. PLA is smack dab in the middle of the Zona Romantica - very family friendly.

Both are unavailable for the dates we’re looking, sadly. Thanks for the recommendations, however.

Do you want a resort/hotel that has specific organized activities like a formal 'Kids Club'? What would excite your daughter (are we talking water slides, lazy river, or what kinds of things?).

@suze2you - any/all of what you mentioned. Water activities probably being most important.

Might try the Hyatt Ziva - just a few minutes South of town - beautiful beach. A little further South is the Hilton Riviera Vallarta. Equally lovely, There are a number of "mainstream" resorts in the hotel zone and Marina. Maybe look at Velas Vallarta or the Marriott??

Hi Ryan, welcome to the forum…

How are you trying to book for Playa Los Arcos? Are you just looking on the internet? I’d personally call them up on their 1-800# during business hours / during the week and ask for Margarita in reservations. Tell her what you’d like and see if she can find a room.

IF, Playa Los Arcos happens to be full, ask for their sister hotel just around the corner = Los Arcos Suites. We stayed there in June / July and will be staying there again Oct/Nov and it’s nice too. Just not on the beach. Only 1/2 block back but you can go to the Playa Los Arcos beach and enjoy it. Plus you can eat at their open-aired restaurant or in the many other restaurants right where all the action is going on. All walking distance.

Los Arcos Suites is fun for kids too. There were lots of kids swimming in the pool all day long in June / July. The pool is smaller than Playa, but the kids loved it. There’s even a little bridge that crosses over the pool. There you can get a one bedroom suite or a mini-suite.

For nicer beaches and great water activities, I would look in Nuevo Vallarta. You're 1/2 hour from PV< but only a quick taxi ride to Bucerias. Lots of local restaurants and shops and much less touristy than PV. Beaches are much better out there and the resorts have much more activity for kids going on. Try the Riu Vallarta as it's been fully renovated and you would also have access to the Riu Jalisco for everything except breakfast and supper. So you would have additional pools, shows, etc to try out. Probably more families at the Riu Jalisco though and you could get a two bedroom sutie if you would like that.

The Crown Paradise Club has a kids club and water park, Sunscape also has a hoods kids club and separate kids pool with slides; both are located north in the hotel zone. Sunscape is a step up for food and accommodations, CPC has a better water park and an adults only pool that you can enjoy while your daughter is playing at the kids club.

The Melia has the most activities for kids of all ages and very popular with families, and lots of kids! Velas also has a good kids club and lazy river and a step up from the Melia, both are located a little further north in the marina area and still an easy commute to downtown.

The Riu properties in Nuevo are also great but IMO more like a 45+ minute commute and can be expensive depending on how many times you want to go to and from downtown PV. For me with or without kids it would be a ‘resort’ vacation.
