Such a fun time! Sapporo was great. Such great food. We went for the Sapporo Snow Festival in 2024 and it was fantastic. While you’re there definitely try Miso Ramen and Curry Soup from Suage+ Honten. The Sapporo Beer Museum and Genghis Khan in the food hall there was delicious and such a fun experience. Will definitely go back to check out what Sapporo has to offer during the summer months. It was an easy trip via ANA airlines from Haneda airport from Tokyo.

Beautiful park with flowers and autumn foliage. The corn truck had delicious corn on the cob that was worth the queue! Wish I had more of it! The parallel street had a tranquil small park that tourists overlook and locals go there to paint. The park is beautiful both in the day and at night.

Hokudai 北大 is the famous Japanese national University in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Considered to be the nation's finest institutions of higher education or research it Is one of the top universities and was ranked 5th in THE Japan University Rankings.
Little surprise that it is considered a “tourist-visiting sites” too by TA and some traveling journals. The premise has such abundance of accessible green space that we were overwhelmed when we visited it recently. Barely a 10 mins walk north from our Hotel stay.

We noted that the general public can often be seen using the campus area in a similar way to a public park, mostly jogging & some bicycle. There is a museum in the university that is opened daily which we did not go to., we just roam around the northern-eastern side of the campus, relaxing ourselves on the last morning b4 our flight back to SG.
And always must-mention will be the Hokkaido university poplar avenue and also the "Ginko avenue", at both areas the trees/flowers aplenty and drew much crowd and even tourists. Depending on the season it could be ginko, cherry and even maple leaves

Recommended if one has the time and is nearby.

An excellent village! We were on a tour with a guide, but the best part was taking off our shoes and going into the buildings. My favourite was a personal shrine in one of the houses.

An interesting area in downtown Sapporo filled with bars and restaurants offering all types of food, certainly worth a visit at night when the lights come on and the area becomes very lively.

Mt Okura Observatory is located on the outskirts of the capital of Hokkaido, Sapporo. You can get to the top of the mountain and get a good view of the city of Sapporo. The trip to the top is fairly easy, it's well worth the effort. The offering of transport connections is convenient.

The underground maze of several walkways going back and forth seem to stretch several kilometers. The weather is indeed chilly during winter , and staying at the Sapporo Grand Hotel , we would later discover this pathway underneath at the basement which has a plethora of shops , restaurants and fast food outlets. Several toilets along the way can be seen. But take note most are closing by 9 pm so we can be wary of that .

Nothing special for elderly but for kids and young couples, this place is good for taking selvies, pictures and simple visit to learn how they make their famous chocolate cookies. There is a simple activity as well for your kids to learn to decorate their own cookies. It will be around JPY 1,200 per 30 mins (inside the chocolate factory building). To enter the chocolate building (they have mini museum inside as well) you have to pay tickets that cost around JPY 800 for adult and JPY 400 for kids.
They also have a special chocolate store for you to buy gifts for your loved ones.
Some neat cafes are also there but quite crowded because this place is also a tourist destination.
Other than that, nothing so special about it.

We got here at half 2pm in taxi, there were a quite a crowd already. The premium had been sold out, no choice but go for the freebie tour. Quite informative short videos at the mini theatre, well laid out chronological exhibits in Japanese, with English cards on the side.
The highlight is probably the beer sampling. You purchase the tickets at the vending machine, cash, credit card or eWallet. Collect at the bar, and we managed a table seating despite the crowd. JPY 1,000 for three beers sampler.
Kaitakushi beer, a mild and smooth beer which I couldn't find at the local stores.

A lovely complex of buildings telling the story of Hokkaido Jingu. Home of theTulelary deities it also contains the Bronze Statue of Yoshitake Shima who provided much of the emphasis for its construction.

On the day we visited (day we'd checked out of our hotel), it was raining lightly in the morning and very humid. We didn't fancy being inside, so walked the few blocks from our hotel down to Nakajima park.
We spent an hour or so just taking a gentle wander round and looking at the various different things there are to see; statues, the lake, tea house, etc. I think our favourite part was the Japanese garden which is small but pretty and tranquil.
At the time of year we were there, there was not so much in the way of flowers to see, but it was still nice to take some time in a green space.

Go to the top of the JR Tower and admire the views of the city. Don't miss the unique men's room with a view.
