這首《Slow Hand》是美國黑人女子合唱團體The Pointer Sisters在1981所推出的。據寫歌者之一的John Bettis後來陳述，這首歌原本不是要寫給這個團體的，而且在寫歌時，心中也根本沒有想到這個團體。好在The Pointer Sisters有夠爭氣，此曲拿下了告示牌熱門榜的第2名 ( 與另首《Fire》的主唱均同為Anita )，在英國則首度打進了排行榜前10名。

The Pointer Sisters最早是由兩位妹妹Bonnie (1950)、June (1953─2006，因癌症病故。) 於1969以「Pointers A Pair」的名稱，分別參與幾位知名歌手巡演時的合音，隨後二姐Anita (1948)也辭了工作加入。1971隨歌手Elvin Bishopy在俱樂部演唱時，獲得了與唱片公司簽約的機會。1972，大姐Ruth (1946) 也加入，成了親姐妹的四人合唱團體。

1974，Anita和Bonnie合寫了一首《Fairytale》，這首有鄉村曲風的歌曲，雖然在熱門及鄉村榜的名次都不高 ( #13 & #37 )，卻在1975為Pointer姐妹贏得了一座「最佳鄉村歌曲團體演唱」的葛萊美獎。1977，Bonnie離團單飛，Pointer姐妹又成了三人組合。1978，The Pointer Sisters翻唱Bruce Springsteen的《Fire》，奪得了美國排行榜的第2名，另在比利時、紐西蘭、荷蘭及南非等國家均為冠軍曲，也使得The Pointer Sisters成為了國際知名合唱團體。



1982，美國鄉村歌手Conway Twitty翻唱此曲，在鄉村單曲榜蟬聯了兩週的冠軍，卻也是他最後一首能在冠軍寶座停留多週的歌曲。
