Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Paid 2000 yen each to swim in the terrace roof pool on the 8th floor. On reaching the 8th floor found out that a further 4000 yen each was required for the adult only pool deck and pool area. The Manager and several other staff members were unable to explain this for 45 minutes. The general pool is full of screaming kids, tubes, more like a water world. On leaving the complex even if you have purchased no items you are still required to checkout in a very long, time consuming queue. So for kids and families wanting a water world with slides, tubes, noise and long queues this is the place.

Rainy day in Osaka, so decided to head to Spa World, which is the closest thing to a waterpark in the city.

Spa world is actually a hotel with various Onsen baths. The pool is on the 8th floor and has 2 “large” slides, a lazy river and a kind of baby area.

Entering the reception, there are ticket machines where you can buy entry or entry with pool access (there’s a tab at the top of the page to pay for pool entry). You then have to take your shoes off and put them in a locker before making your way to the changing rooms on the 4th or 6th floor. From there there is another elevator to the pool on the 8th.

Once in, turns out you have to pay separately for the slides - either 500 yen for one go or 1500 yen for a day pass. Not sure why anyone would pay just to use the lazy river, but whatever. Your wristband that you get when you buy your entry is then loaded up with the additional charge which you settle at checkout. It’s all unnecessarily complicated.

The facility itself is ok. There is no real pool so to speak. The slides are ok but there are only 2, so their novelty wears out pretty quickly. The place was empty on the Friday morning we went, so the kids had their fill.

I can’t speak for the Onsen but they looked nice.

All in all, not somewhere I would head to as a destination but not a terrible experience by any means.

very bad service. Employees know nothing about their jobs and give wrong information about the entrance. The woman at the counter acted like she was seeing us for the first time, even she gave us the wrong information before. She was very rude and didn't follow what she told us 20 minutes ago. Admission regulations are racist, banning certain people from entry based on their appearance. Do not go to this spa. It's really shameful.

Awful. Pool at the top was horrendously busy and they wanted extra money for it which was not clear at all when buying tickets on the bottom floor. There were 90 minute queues for the kids slides.

The pool table was constantly busy and there were no darts available for the.games room.

Biggest waste of 35 quid (family of 4) ever.

Certainly wouldn't waste time in Japan to go here. There is no age limit for entering the hot springs/onsen. Therefore, there are kids running around the place, jumping in water and disturbing any kind of calmness. There's loads of crying, shouting, and nothing like the serenity advertised on the website. I think my blood pressure rose significantly rather than reduce! At the end, the system to exit is bizarre. I queued for 40 minutes to 'check out', get a receipt and leave.... madness for such a forward thinking country!

Great fun experience, my daughter and I used the family pool area which was really busy but great fun. The place itself is looking a bit old and tired but everything still works. I had read previous reviews about the rules which helped greatly on the day, but the signage was in English as well as Japanese so I didn’t get too confused (except when being required to use the check out machine when leaving to pay for 0 yen spent?!). The ladies spa area is huge and although tired, strangely luxurious! All in all, worth a visit for the day with kids!

You are not able to enter spa world with a tattoo...it is frowned upon in Japan. Didn't find out till I got there and read there restrictions. The brochure looks and sounds great however I never got to find out firsthand.

You have to love walking around naked and soaking in all different kinds of hot hot baths with themes but this was very cool, super relaxing and I slept brilliantly afterwards.
Ask for an English guidesheet as you enter on ground floor. It will give you some idea of what is going on.
We used the European baths on our visit. The men are on a separate floor and had the Asian-themed baths that month. It changes start of every month.
You enter and go right to the far end of the baths to the washing stalls. Sit down and scrub thoroughly here before entering any baths. You stroll around semi-covering yourself (or not, many women stroll around naked) and try each bath around the complex which covers several thousand square meters. all baths have a theme and different ingredients like herbs or milk and honey. The outdoor 'Spain' baths were magnificent and very enjoyable. There are 2 saunas also.
Allow enough time at the end to enjoy the 'Osim-style' massage chairs (coin operated). We spent about 90 mins there but I could have stayed another hour. No English signs but you can follow everyone else. Enjoy!

We're a family of four with two young kids spending two weeks in Japan, travelling from Kagoshima to Tokyo. We started our trip with Ibusuki natural onsen, then Kagoshima, Hiroshima, Osaka-Kyoto-Nara. During our travels, internationally and in Japan, we have never been charged entry fee for a 1 month old child until SpaWorld. We're not sure by what anomalous standards SpaWorld operates; it surely is not on par with the throngs of spas in Japan.

Have been in Osaka already 6 times and consider this city as my home town already SPA world is a must if you stay in Osaka and don’t want to go to special ryokan – onsen in Arima prefecture. Spa world has got 2 floors – Asian and European. Myself I prefer Asian floor as it has got more special things and more atmosphere. As all ryokans, spa world is segregated into men and women floor respectively European or Asian and they change each month. The thing which westerns should know is japanese bathing culture. Inside the spa everyone is naked and before heading to sauna you should go to washing room where you will find all amenities for good shower. Only after it you can go in the sauna or take a bath. You should know as well if you have tattoos, you will be banned from visit. This is mentioned on the entrance of spa world.
