Transportation is easy, next to the famous GuoMinBingGuang.

The hotel is made of wood structure which is very warm in style. The lobby is well decorated and beautiful. The room is clean but the pillow is too flat. Adequate windows. The hotel is not air conditioned. With a floor mount fan, it is marginally ok in the summer, even thought the hotel is located on the hill.

The breakfast is great. It is much tasteful and variety of food is available.

It is at good price and worthy to stay longer.

This was our 2nd family trip to Taiwan's Nantou Qing Jing Nong Chang 台湾南投清境农场. We decided to check into a double storey cottage hotel - Shangrila Hanging Garden 香格里拉空中花园 (tried Shangrila Music Villa 香格里拉音乐城堡 during winter and you can read my previous review of that hotel then).

Still as charming as we last visited, this hotel really isn't for old folks or handicapped. You have to walk a long way up a wooden staircase (see photos).

But the rooms are very nice with a balcony overlooking spectacular cloud formation at any time of the day. For light sleeper, do not opt for single floor room for 2-4 as you will find it very noisy with your neighbour upstair. A double storey room (max 4 pax) will be better.

There are many things you can do at nearby areas (see photos). Starbucks and restaurants within walking distance, valleys with lambs (the children will love it) and an entire restaurant made up of wooden cardboards!

There are many other hotels at Qing Jing but we always stick to the Shangrila brand (not the same international chain of hotel brand) which has 3 hotels of different ambience - Shangrila Hanging Garden (most affordable), Shangrila Music Villa (Mid-price) and the ultimate luxurious The Old England (you can read my review).

Stayed 1 night here, although driving up can be pretty torturous for people who have car sick, but the scenery and environment here is amazing. Breakfast and tea break is included in the room charges. Advisable to hv dinner in the resort too, as it’s really very dark to drive to the nearest eateries.
Highly recommended

A rather nice boutique minsu about 5mins walk from Cingjing Guest house and nearby to CJ Skywalk. Staff Ms Chen was very helpful and assisted us to make special arrangement for high tea at Old England Manor and subsequently shuttle ride to Green Green Grassland. Nice ambience

I had originally booked a room for 6 (there were 2 double beds on the first level and 2 single ones on the second) for 2 nights but couldnt bear to stay the second. Front desk staff are rather polite and help was provided to move luggage up the steps to the room. Although the outdoor temperature was abt 22 degree celsius but it was extremely stuffy in the room where there was only 1 fan. The bathroom was extremely run down and it was very difficult to bath young kids in the tub (there was no other bathing area). The pillows smelled bad and there was a stench coming from the toilet bowl. Even the toilet in the main building was better than that in the room. It was so unfortunate that guest from neighbouring rooms were smoking outside their rooms and my room was filled with the smell of cigarettes. It was difficult for me to keep the window shut due to the poor ventilation in the room. This was definitely the worst part of the trip!

Stay here in two rooms. Nice rooms with good view. The breakfast was very good. Most of all, the staff were friendly. We left some valuables behind and they were kind enough to call our driver and subsequently deliver it to Taipei. What more can one ask ?

First the booking - somehow I managed to book the room at reasonable rate quite last minute. Cheaper than even my stay at sun moon lake.
Location - not difficult to find. Tell taxi driver the Chinese name and most know where is it.
Hotel - it is actually multiples of little huts at different heights. Lobby is at the lower floor, we made mistake of walking up the uneven flight of steps before realising we have to backtrack.
Recept - friendly and will give info if u ask.
Our deal - a night stay with breakfast and tea. They asked if we want to upgrade our tea to dinner by paying extra NT for dinner. We went for it. Only setback is morning breakfast we hv to pay extra for our pre-schooler whom can't eat much. Their hot chocolate is nice! Esp in this cold winter.
Room - the room we got is somehow on top of the lobby. It was good as we were given the room with balcony n facing the front with a bit of scenery. Some rooms are facing the back n may not have balcony. Only 2 rooms on level 2 face the front. The top level is family room I think. There's also little huts behind the lobby main building. I am not sure how to book those rooms. We booked online and straight away given the room on top of lobby.
The room is quite small but decor quite nice n cozy. Bed is small n I somehow couldn't sleep. Room is cold without heater and hv to put on double layer blanket. They dont provide portable heater. This room although small has a decent size bathtub and it's clean.
Meal - it is alright, has western food but it gets cold fast in this winter. Bread although hv a variety but they r quite hard. they have all kinds of drinks and we loved it. Coffee, different types of floral tea, maccha, milk tea n hot chocolate. Most importantly, it's hot and good for our cold hands. The hot chocolate is good esp in this cold winter that it left a deep impression on our little one that everywhere we go aft that night's stay, we were in searched of good hot chocolate in taipei.
Overall a good nice stay, wished we could stay one more night here instead of at sml. (U can take ego bus from sml to cj and it's direct, no need to go puli to change. NT450 per person. Kids pay same price. End up a 9 seater bus brought the 3 of us to cj and it's like our personal taxi driver!)

We stayed two nights in July, 2012. When we arrived a man at the concierge advised us to have dinner at the resort the first night of our arrival as we are not familiar with the surrounding which was right. Actually I have no idea why it was called a resort since there are not a lot of activity going on there. A young man helped us to take one of our luggage up the rough wooden stairs to our room which was unexpected, I thought we had to carry them ourselves. The our two kids loved the little balcony like upper floor with two little beds. They saw a squirrel in the trees beside the huts. The dinner was delicious and the breakfasts were sufficient though not grand. The young staff were very helpful. We booked a free trip to the nearby Green green pasture for the Sheep show the following day but the lady at the concierge told us there was no record, luckily they arranged a van to pick us up after 30 minutes. The main attractions were nearby as we could walk to the Cing Jing Farm and the Little Swiss. There was even a Starbuck and Mosburger nearby the farm. However we liked the Carton King the most. There was a shop where you can buy souvenirs, you can decorate a postcard and post it, buy carton toys, special biscuits or honey. The restaurant was also very special, all most all things are made of carton, the table, the chairs, cup holders, and the food was tasty too. It was very sunny and hot during the day but very cool at night. It was very funny to see the clouds coming down from the sky to surround us after six o'clock. We sat on the veranda at dinner with candles on the tables which was quite romantic. The view from the veranda was magnificent, strips of white clouds over green mountains and valleys during daytime.

We stayed here 1 night. Our package includes breakfast and dinner. The wooden cabin room is quite small. I think the room need some restoration work especially the wooden walls. The room has poor sound insulation. We can clearly hear footsteps above us and when people entering their room. Beware! The bathroom floor tiles were freaking cold in the morning!
Dinner was great, one main course (choose from the menu) and buffet spread which consists of carbonara spaghetti, fried rice, soups, salad, fruits, breads, soft drinks, teas, etc. We enjoy our meals.
The hotel lobby and surrounding area is quite picturesque. Sadly, the room is quite disappointing.

Besides bed & breakfast, service is most important and gives a good impression to the customer. Their tag line never let the customer carry luggage. They know their weakness, but they use that as their strong point by helping carry the luggage whenever they saw you carry it. They do not allow you having food in the room but they give you free food.
