- Emese BFrankfurt, Germany301 contributionsBelieve in SantaThis was my second time in SCV, the first one was the classic winter trip soon after Xmas a few years ago, so at the second time I preferred off-season. Given the Xmas-focus, it isn't the same feeling in the spring but Santa isn't overran by tourist hoards and one can get into his office for "audition" literally without waiting. So a trip off-season is always has a point.Visited May 2023Traveled soloWritten May 28, 2023

- Sue CDublin, Ireland16 contributionsWhat visiting Santa n the north pole is about! Magic. Now this is what Lapland is about! All the magic. Lots to do Mrs Claus was so good. Kids said that was there favourite. Elf restaurant was really nice. Couldn't get over that the fast food place closed at like 6pm. Husky farm was great. Activities are expensive but worth it. The only one was snowman world, its small and the big slide wasn't even opened so only one small out door slide and a small ice skating rink. The different rooms are cool to look at though. This was over priced for what it offered to be honest. The reindeer ride was so peaceful and surreal. We had such a nice guy and his son guiding us. Just a magical place. Kids wrote there Santa list and posted them in the boxes provided. Crossing the artic circle was so good and the live camera is great. We rang family and got them to log on and look at us waving at them. Great! It can be cold standing round so good thermal socks and boots and clothes. Just a great place. Forget Santa Park. Not a patch! Don't waste your money there.Visited December 2022Traveled with familyWritten July 29, 2023
- ZebramaniiMatlock, United Kingdom119 contributionsMagical PlaceIf you visit Rovaniemi and don't visit Santa then why did you even come? This is pretty much the main sight in the area and there are various things to do once you arrive. The highlights for me, aside from meeting Santa, was getting to go for a walk in the woods with a reindeer, visiting the husky park and having a ride in a sleigh. One thing I should point out is that this place will be very busy around Christmas time, as you might expect, I went in late November and it was not too bad, the queue to visit Santa was not excessive and it moved fairly quickly. Another thing of note was that while visiting Santa is free, they do charge if you want a photo/video of the experience and that, coupled with the price of the other attractions on site and as well, food and souvenirs, it could end up being an expensive day, that said, I did buy the photo and I did pay to get the gift from Santa and I spent an whole day there, so while it dinted my bank balance somewhat, the experience was something I'll remember for the rest of my life.Visited November 2022Traveled soloWritten July 29, 2023
- Boyd JMaleny, Australia1,697 contributionsWorth Visiting, Even in SummerIt would be almost criminal to be driving through and staying in Rovaniemi and not make the short trip out to the Santa Claus Village. Situated right on the Arctic Circle it is heavily commercialized with a photo with Santa costing Euro 35, and even in summer there was still a considerable queue to meet Santa. Nonetheless it was good to visit. It would have a lot more allure in winter I imagine with the lights twinkling everywhere and a blanket of snow.Visited June 2023Written August 2, 2023
- Richard MPhoenix, Arizona457 contributionsSanta is JollyWe were off-season, so no crowds. I was told it sometimes took 7 hours in line to get a Santa photo. We waited about 7 seconds. The shops are interesting, and putting one foot on each side of the Arctic Circle for a photo is fun.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 9, 2023
- pavanl14 contributionsGreat day out!A great day out for me and my husband. Highly enjoyable for 2 adults in their early 30's with no children. We ate at the 3 elves restaurant which was a lovely atmosphere as well as good food. Great to see the village during daylight and darkness. We spent the hours between 1.45ish to 6pm there. Transport was very easy to and from. Walking around was fun, as well as visiting Santa, posting a postcard to loved ones, seeing reindeer and husky's.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 7, 2023

The hole village is a dream for kids and adults. It is quite pricy however everything in the area is. - kaya47London, United Kingdom90 contributionsWorth breaking the bank forThank for the most magical time. We didn’t even have time to visit it all in our full two days. I hope you take really good care of those reindeers pushing people on sleigh 7h a day! There is no shop here, you have to go to the garage across the road. They also serve cheap food and cheap beers. For wine or anything else you have to travel 2km. You will absolutely spend a fortune we did aprox £350 a day for 3 of us, the memories will be worth it.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 9, 2023

Took a lot of trips here during the summer as well as winter. Santa Claus Village is open year round, no matter what time of the year you choose to visit it. And you can find santa there in his office during his working hours. Get a photo clicked with him, it's all for free. But, but... The tricky part is that the photos are clicked by the elves with the professional camera, cause taking a photo inside the Santa's office with hour phone or camera is forbidden. So to get the photo in the form of a digital copy or soft copy, you must pay. The price is 30 euros something.
The vibes in the holiday village is absolutely terrific with carols playing year round. Winter and snow makes it looks even dreamier, and there are times when you can actually see the Northern Lights from here as well. The famous Arctic circle line cross right through the holiday village and crossing it is considered as an auspicious activity. You can also visit the husky and reindeer farm and enjoy the sledge ride as well. There are some amazing restaurants and hotels in the resort premises, with highlight being the Santa Glass Igloo from where you can watch the legendary nothern lights from the cosy comfort of your room. You can also write letters/postcards to your near and dear ones with the coveted Arctic circle stamp and reindeer seal on it. Santa's Park is another attraction which is quite close from the Santa Claus Village. You can spend an entire day here. 😊

It was August, not December but in the village the music was all about Christmas. You can find the Santa house, post office, a lot of shops, restaurants, but everything is very commercial; you pay a lot for every souvenir and it doesnot worth the money. For children is very nice that's why the place is crowded even in summer.
If you want a photo with Santa you have to pay, you cannot do it with your camera.
What i liked: that you cross there the Arctic Circle (much nicer than in Norway) and that you can see some of children letters addressed to Santa framed.

It's all hype. Buildings and Christmas lights are just a trap for the cheapest flea market merchandise and some "Finland" wool hats and sweaters that is sold at any store. The merchandise is so bad that the kids couldn't find anything on which to spend 50 Euros we gave them (to try to keep them from being completely crushed by this terrible place). Consider that -- young kids with money to burn could find nothing worth buying! The very little that there is too do is terribly expensive and poorly executed. For example, 28 Euro PER PERSON gets you access to a restaurant and Cafe (food and drink extra), ice skating, sliding down a hill (like you can do outside for free) and viewing ice sculptures. The Elves petting zoo will set you back another 10 or 15 Euro a person, for which you get to slide down a small pile of snow and look at animals like roosters, rabbits, and sheep (only the reindeer were interesting to the kids). I don't usually write reviews but I feel an obligation to warn you.

We visited the day before Christmas Eve (12/23/19) which is when they have the big send off parade (it starts at 7 p.m.) It is free to park and walk about the village. There are shops, restaurants, snow sleds, etc. You can see Santa for free but you cannot take pictures, their cheapest photo was 40 Euros for a 5x7. You can cross into the Artic Circle, ride reindeer, visit the post office, visit Mrs. Claus' cottage, and play at Snowman World, which is located inside of the Village. (Snowman World only accepts cash.) The Village also have a building that holds a tour company in case you want to book soome excusrions. I was a bit disappointed in the Village itself, but it's cute and Christmasey. We split the day between Santa Park and Santa Village; you can easily see everything, including a snack and waiting in lines, in about 2 hours.

We came here to see Father Christmas. If you want him to give your child a present, this happens right before you go in. I hit worried so I wanted others to know. We actually spent 2 days here because my daughter loves playing in the snow so much. We did the huskies and reindeer tasters which you did not have to prebook. We did prebook the snowmobile 1 hour ride. Also spent a lot of time at the Elf petting farm.
We loved drinking tea and coffee from the Loft. Better burgers can be found at the end of the main building rather than Santa pizza and burgers.
Loved this place so much!

We didn’t really like visiting Rovaniemi and all that Santa’s kinda of entertainment. There’s nothing special. And there are 2 Santas, both boring and saying same learned phrases. Santas are just young men in costumes with same learned phrases that requires huge amount of money for a photo, letters, certificates and so on. We really regret that we spent so much time and money for this place. Kittilä, Levi is much better place than this one.

Stayed here for 6 nights with my wife and 3 children (7, 10,13). I wanted to show the children that Santa is about all year and true to my beliefs he is there large as life! Being the summer with less people he had a lot more time to spend and chat with us and fair play to him he really made an effort and engaged really nicely with all 3 children. There is the usual photo package but no massive pressure to purchase (we bought bargain reindeer hide and got it for free included). Other than Santa you can visit the huskies, reindeer and there are various Christmas shops to look around.
We stayed in the family suites, quiet this time of year. It was clean and modern with a clear Lappish theme. It included a built in sauna which was nice plus a Christmas tree on the balcony! Other than that there was a small kitchenette and 2 televisions. I have to admit I did expect the room the be a little bigger and it was a little tight for 5 of us as the kids had their beds made up in the lounge area - suites I have stayed in before had 2 bedrooms plus lounge. One issue we had was they did not service the room on one day, however after some discussions they compensated me for this - I always think it is more important how people resolve a problem than the problem itself as things do go wrong.
The breakfast was nice held in a Christmassy room and comprised a buffet with the usual Finnish hot and cold food. It would be nice, seeing this is an international venue, to see an Italian coffee machine as I think I am not the only one who finds Finnish filter coffee not to my taste buds.
Overall, nice place if a little commercial. Would like to try it in the midst of winter too. On reflection though would recommend staying somewhere cheaper and coming here for a half day trip as you do not need to be a resident to enjoy the activities.

This place appears to be a tourist scam. Everything is pricey in Santa Claus Village, but people like it, the view, the environment, the snowman and real time webcam etc. Queue up for one hour to take photo with Santa Claus and willingly pay $xx for the photo and short video .... Haha. Once a while it’s absolutely fine. Sending a postcard back home seems “a must do”. Strange ..riding reindeer and then offered a reindeer burger ... on the menu. Lots of Asian here, just like another Japan winter village, the only difference is backdrop of pine tree which looks unique.

We have a nice day in Santa Claus Village, this is a fantastic experience. But a small event in the very end made us really unhappy and even ruined our emotion for the whole day. We visited the souvenir store in the downstair of loft coffe(Joulumaantie 1, 96930 Napapiiri) which hosted by a “gentleman”. We took a photo under the situation without seeing the “no photo” sign, firstly we really need to apologize for this behavior because the sign was really not easy to notice in our routine of visiting. However, the shop assistant who was behind counter used a really rude attitude to shout at us, and showed an arrogance to ask us show him our mobile phone even though we stopped our behavior immediately and deleted the photo. He pointed at us in front of many people and said “show me.” with a tune of command. He even menaced us that if we didn’t show him our phone then we were demand to purchase the stuff in his store. After that, we went to inquiry this situation to other workers, and we heard that there was no formal forbidden of photoing at the other places in this building.
This assistant really offended us, we felt angry and being insulted, and I thought our personal privacy was badly offended by his command. It’s our fault that taking a photo in a forbidden area, but there are no obvious notification there, a kind remind is enough to make us understand. But the attitude and mood of the assistant made us just like we were offender and he was a policeman.
It’s unbelievable that a worker in such a well-known traveling spot used such an attitude to his guest. I thought the spirit of Santa Clause village should be equality and happiness, but there’s no doubt that what we met here was contrary to both of these. Or do you mean the existence of Santa Claus Village was just taking money from visitors and don’t need any respect? If do so, I think I won’t recommend any people I meet to this place.
By the way, this souvenir store is at downstair of Loft Coffee, with a lot of sleddog-like hats and other wool productions. The shop assistant is a middle aged man with beard and glasses. The time we visited there was around 16:30-17:00 in 10 Jan 2020. I required the official could provide a reasonable response and refine this phenomenon, for giving visitors’ a better experience.

Magic, absolutely magic. We visited as a family of 4 and spent 3 days in the village. We loved just walking around enjoying the atmosphere while the kids played in the snow. Sledges are available to use all over the village, once there isn’t a persons name on them. There are plenty hills around every corner to keep the kids entertained. The lights are stunning and well worth waiting until dark to enjoy. There are loads of little shops and places to get food and drinks. There are also lots of fires around to warm up and toast marshmallows. I would advise taking your own so you can use them whenever you want. We had pre booked some activities but queues for the mini snowmobiles which my son loved. We queues for about 30 mins in early December. We pre booked the huskey ride with Bear Hill Huskeys and they were fabulous. We also just queues up for the reindeer ride. This was about a 30min wait in early December. The reindeer is very slow compared to the huskeys so I would recommend a shorter reindeer ride and go for the longer huskey ride. The Santa bus took us from the village to the city centre and cost €20 return for a family of 4. We really did love the village

Grazie a chi mi risponderà

No, you will not need a reservation. We were staying in Santa Claus Holiday Village and noticed that it was very busy during the day. So trying to visit Santa Claus might take a long time in the cue then. It was a lot easier to visit him relatively early in the morning or in the early evening after 6 p.m. No cue then at all and Santa had a lot of time to talk to us then.

I have a silly question. On the "Santa Claus Village - Arctic Circle Webcam" in the center of village I see many people pulling kids on a plastic sled. I want to know if those are sold or rent nearby, and if so, can anybody tell me the price? I have planned a 4 days trip to he village (hotel there too), and I don't plan to go Rovaniemi city center (unless anybody tell me it really worth doing so for one day).

There are some which are left by the coach / car parks which you can use for free. Just make sure you leave them there afterwards for the next boy / girl. Whatever you do DONT TAKE ANY FROM OUTSIDE A SHOP / RESTAURANT OR TIED UP AS THEY DEFINITELY BELONG TO SOMEONE.

ciao a tutti!

Do you need to pre-book activities in santa claus village or do they take walk ins?

It depends on the activity and time of year. Shorter reindeer or snowmobile rides are queue up and do it, longer ones you have to book. Take a look online at the Sant Claus Village website and you can click through to the different providers sites for prices and booking details
