原文英文While many believe that his time in the NBA is all but done, 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony is having none of this. As a matter of fact, the unrestricted free agent very openly admitted he has reached out to teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers in the hopes of signing with either of these squads before the new season starts.
Anthony recently sat down with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s “First Take,” and the 35-year-old former scoring champion revealed how it has always been a dream for him to play alongside his good buddy LeBron James:
This is not the first time we’ve heard of the Lakers being linked to Anthony, but unfortunately for him, it doesn’t seem like they want to sign him at this time. However, Melo’s longstanding friendship with LeBron is no secret, and it would not be a complete shock if James influences the Lakers’ front office into giving his buddy another shot.
The Clippers would be another interesting landing spot for Anthony, which would reunite him with former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Paul George. They did not exactly turn out to be a perfect match, but maybe the second time’s the charm?
While Anthony spent virtually all of last season in basketball purgatory, there are some who believe he still has some gas left in the tank. He is definitely no longer the scoring machine he once was, but perhaps he could provide some firepower off the bench for a contending team like the Lakers or Clippers.
