- haanahhPrague, Czech Republic269 contributionsOne of the top attractions in the areaWorrh coming! If you dont want to hike up the hill, pay for the two cable cars that will get you to the top. Then you can simply only admire the views and take a small hike around the area without going up or down. We spent here around two hours, walking towards the rock formation and back. The day we came was raining in the morning and the rock formations were covered in clouds, but it was very special. I would say better tahn if you see it with clear sky. If it rains before you go, be aware ans the path will be pretty muddy.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 15, 2023
- LeoZagreb, Croatia825 contributionsStunningly beautifulUsed the quite expensive funicular to get there, but it was absolutely worth it. The scenery is amazingly beautiful in summer, even in a cold summer day (it was about 6-8 degrees celsius). Well worth a visit, it does not get to crowded and the walkways and mini hikes are doable to see the main sights.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 15, 2023

I used the gondola from Ortisei, then the cable car to the top. It's not cheap at 30 euros one way, but worth it as the views from the top are fantastic and there are lots of walking paths in the area. I walked down to the Col Raiser lift, which was a relatively easy 3 and a half hour walk. If you are considering this type of walking holiday i.e. walking from one lift to another, it's a lot cheaper getting the Val Gardena pass. It costs 135 euros for 6 consecutive days so makes it a lot cheaper, and means you don't need to queue every day to get a ticket.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 18, 2023

- Julia @Scrumptious SolentSouthampton, United Kingdom2,427 contributionsJust amazing views!Take the gondola up from Ortesei and then walk up the path ahead to the viewpoint on the top. Just stunning - especially late afternoon when you get the best contrast on all the ridges. Loads of paths to wander down the valley - and get the Fermeda chair (closes at 4:30pm) back to the top for your return journey by Gondola to Ortesesi. Or walk down Seceda valley a bit and take the Col Raiser chair to Saint Christina.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 5, 2023

This was on my bucket list. My husband did it in 2019 and I only made it on the first gondola and was afraid to go to the top on the second large gondola. I promised myself and him if we ever went back I would push past my fears of heights and do it. I did and it was worth it tremendously. It was a cloudy day but was still worth the breathtaking views and the amazing “hot chicollate dense” at the top at the cafe! Like pudding in a cup if you are a chocolate lover! It is a rather strenuous hike once you get off the last gondola to go all the way to where the cross is but I would highly recommend it. We are in our very late 60’s and were also feeling under the weather, but we still made it - no problem. It can be chilly up there so prepare for that.

Arriving:
You drive into the town of Ortisei/St. Ulrich, to the Seceda aerial cable car station. Better use navigation since its a bit of a confusing drive to the station.
I arrived at around 11am and the indoor car park was already full and I was led to the very narrow side car park (where I had to drive carefully in reverse to exite after). It cost 10€ a day.
cable car:
The cable car is of course way cheaper when you're there in winter with a 7 day ski pass. A single ride ticket is pretty expensive. Also note, its 2 cable cars to Seceda. I asked if its possible to go all the way up to Seceda and hike down to the first cable car and ride only that one down. Sadly only whole tickets up/town are possible. I paid expensive 105€ for 3 people for up and half way down.
Seceda:
Arriving on the mountain (over 2000m), it was a bit busy, there were many tourists running around the fields. There were also about 3 drones flying around. Of course the view is astounding. At the cruzifix on the mountain top you can walk over a small ridge to a natural platform where you have almost a 360° view. Its impressive, I'd say its next to cadini di misurina, großer cir, lago di braies and drei zinnen, the most scenic spot. If you want a drink or some food, go to the Sofia hut, they also have long chairs with an astounding view.
The walk down to the middle cable car station is about 1:30h down.

Over the last 10 years I have been on this telepherique many times whilst skiing from the Albergo Ronce. It is an exciting lift of of 730 m over a distance of 2 km. The views are excellent and as you come up to the face of the Dolomite mountain you get an excellent view of the geology of this mountain. For an explanation see the description in the Ladin Museum in Ortisei. In winter there is excellent skiing down to the underground cable car system which leads down to a big people interchange "square" and more lifts and more skiing. Or take the bus to Monte Pane and thence to Alpi de Suisi and still more skiing.
Access to the Seceda lift is across the bottom of the Saint Antonio Square, thence along a dead end street to an escalator, then moving people belts, around a corner, and onto a chairlift taking you up to the base station of the Seceda lift.

You saw the photos. Well seeing it in person, even on a cloudy day, takes your breath away. The beauty of the green grass and wildflowers around it, juxtaposed with the bizarre look of it resembling a torn gash in the ground -- they makes it appear like something out of this world. Walks around the area are long but not very strenuous. Can get busy.

We went to the lifts at Ortisei early in the morning (09:00). We were the first to arrive at Seceda in a day with cold and clouds.
Such a wonderful view! Very nice 360 degrees views of all the peaks around. The lifts were 35euros round trip for each person.
Very safe, very organized, very clean!
A beautiful experience overall!

Many people post videos and pictures saying, it doesn't do justice to what it is really like. That is so true. The price of the cable cars up seems high, until you realise that there is a whole day's worth of things to see and do.
Hiking can be easy or a bit more challenging, but always on good paths.
We want to go again and hike over and go down Col Raiser.

The overall scenery is amazing! But keep in mind that the cable car shut down from October 10th and you can only go to the top on foot or by bike. It usually takes 3 hours to go up to the top. I suggest park your car near Apartment Puntedla. It will save lots of time compared to trekking from the start point of the cable car.

Hi, if I buy the Seceda cable car tickets online now in August, are they still valid in September? There is no such information on their website, the duration or the validity of the tickets.
Thanks so much!

Quindi a destra (20A).

Resti a casa.
Grazie in anticipo.

Ciao a tutti,
Grazie a chi vorrà aiutarmi.

Hello all, going to visit 3 - 7 May, seems the cable car is closed during that time. Wondering any other way up there? Where's the best start point with minimum walking? Possible to drive up to a certain spot and walk up to it? Grateful for any suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Dear Cataline , I suggest you to start from St. Christina-Col Raiser and to walk until the top of Seceda using these infos.
Starting point : Rifugio Raiser (on the top of cable/Cabinovia Col Raiser)
Tracking : Rifugio Raiser - Rifugio Firenze - Lago Iman - Rifugio Toier - seggiovia del Seceda - croce di vetta del Seceda - Rifugio Sofie - Rifugio Daniel - Rifugio Fermeda - Baita Odles - Alpe Col Raiser
Look at these numbers on the way : 4, 1, 1A, 2, 4A
Trip is around 9,5 km in around 4 Hours
From 2.050 to 2.450 m
Enjoy !
Hi, is there a place to stay up there? I saw people take pix of sunrise and night time. Thank you in advance for your help.

Of course Nina ! There are some places to stay.
The real "problem" for the pictures is the season , for example right now the sunrise is at 07:00 AM ( I mean ) and the sunset is at 05:00 PM ... so I suggest you to visit Seceda from June until ausgut or early of September. Have a great holiday in Dolomiti ! :)))
