- MustRetireSoonOregon17 contributionsPerfect Day indeed!Royal Carribean nailed it with this one. WE are grand parents with our son/DL and grand kids off the ship for a day and it was so "all-the-above" I couldn't believe it. Great vibe for all demographics. Great accommodations (chairs, umbrellas, transport, etc). Great food. Great service. Cannot say enough and hope to take all the family next time.Visited May 2023Written June 2, 2023
- luvmytwinsSalisbury, Maryland5 contributionsCoco Cay great! Kayaking not so much!Loved Coco Cay itself and can’t wait to go back. We had as a family and wonderful day. It is very organized, clean, and beautiful. The pool, beaches, and food were a 10. There was two ships docked and plenty of chairs to choose from. However, the kayaking excursion was a disappointment. My kids are 11, almost 12 , and experienced kayakers and swimmers. I read reviews prior to booking. We had tandem kayaks one adult one child. Our group had to guides one in front and one in back. Our destination was never clear, even when asked the guid just pointed across the ocean and it was not to the sandy beach that we could see. It was across the ocean I guess to another island? We never made it. My son and husband flipped half way, while wilayti g for another couple who flipped we all drifted back to shore and had to start over again. There was jo way we could make it to the the island the waves were rough especially with kids and not two strong adults paddling. I would day say this is for age 16 and up. I decided to turn around once I could see husband had flipped. One couple took a boat rescue ( they had capsized too) and my son and husband turned around and made it back to shore. It was not fun nor cheap experience. Would not recommend, it sounded like leisurely kayaks along the shore line, swimming, seeing wildlife, but only if you make it across the choppy ocean to get there. The single adult kayakers seemed to do fine. Nobody even checked with us to see what happened or why could make it. If I had signaled for help the way we were instructed Im not sure they have seen us as everyone was so far apart from each other.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 10, 2023
- gmaj_05Jesup, Georgia513 contributionsTruly a perfect day!We honestly had a perfect day here. We took the tram from the ship to the island and then walked to Chill Island for our jet ski tour. We were a little early, so my husband and son sat on the beach while I did a little shopping at the straw market. I was happy to know that you could still charge to the ship at the straw market. It made it very easy to put our things in a free locker and leave them there. The lockers were plentiful and secure. When it got time for our tour, we were taken inside for instructions and guidelines for driving. Everything was very clear. We then boarded our jet skis and took off. The guides, Senale and Daniel were always attentive and clear about what we were doing next. The tour is broken up into several phases so that everyone can keep up. Our 17 year old son had never driven a jet ski and had the time of his life. We always felt safe during the tour and had a great time. The guides were lots of fun. After the jet ski tour, we had a delicious lunch on the island. There were lots of options and they were all good. The chicken was delicious! The ice cream was also welcome on a very hot day. After lunch, we rented beach mats and just floated for a while. I don't think I have ever been so comfortable. Afterwards, we did a little more shopping and then headed back to the ship. The island never felt crowded and the staff was very friendly. The trams to and from the ship were very nice as well. It was a very enjoyable day.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 10, 2023
- Anderson37939 contributionsPerfect Day at Coco CayThe water park was a great way to spend the day. There was plenty of seating, loungers, food areas, drink stands, and bars. The kids loved the water slides, there is a wave pool and a lagoon. There is something for everyone at any price point. There is also a lot of construction going on so there is sure to be more to come as well.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 21, 2023
- alowreyDallas, Texas9 contributionsPerfect Day at Coco CayWent to Coco Cay as a stop on Harmony of the Seas. Amazing beach. Plenty of lounge chairs. Thrill water park is too expensive and not a good value. Save your money. Beautiful water! Wish they would have had waitstaff available for drinks on the beach. Beach was busy and only two waiters who never made it over to me. Otherwise great day at Coco Cay! Also wish there would have been more souvenirs available!Visited July 2023Written August 6, 2023
- kl11867 contributionsChilledOn the third day of our Independence of The Seas cruise we visited Coco Cay. We had booked an excursion to swim with the pigs. Naturally I was nervous and hesitant given the previous days experience at Blue Lagoon! This however was seamless and after a short speedboat ride we were on the island. We were allowed to take as many photos as we liked before we got down to the beach on our own devices, then we went to swim with the pigs and they took lots of photos (you weren’t allowed your own devices in the water), we had plenty of time – we didn’t feel rushed at all. We were then allowed to have more photos with the babies with our own devices. Photos were purchased later, not bad value, $89 for 20 photos. After returning to Coco Cay we looked around the straw market (everything here is quite expensive), went in the Oasis Lagoon – listen out for the music playing underwater and went snorkelling in the sea. Food and drink was all included and was of a decent quality. All purchases from the straw market can be put on your sea pass card which is handy so you don’t have to carry cash.Visited August 2023Written August 16, 2023
- ShumShumLas Vegas, Nevada14 contributionsTons of fun without the ticketI've never been to the other cruise ships' private islands (but will be next month), but this one blew me away with the sheer size of it, and how much they packed into it! We did the Swim with Pigs tour and did a snorkel rental, and by the time the day was done, we were not even close to have visited the entire island! We opted out of the (expensive) park ticket, and there was still a lot of area to wander and enjoy yourselves. The kids even have two free splash/play zones to hang out in! The staff are friendly, and while it was quite hot there, it was still a ton of fun walking around and enjoying the tropical atmosphere. If you've never been on a cruise, and are wanting to go to something tropical, I highly recommend doing an RCL cruise that visits Coco Cay. It may be a "planted" tropical getaway, but hey, some times the reality of a "real" tropical getaway is far less satisfying.Visited September 2022Traveled with familyWritten August 18, 2023
- Paul BWylam, United Kingdom5 contributionsIt was a perfect day…Wow !! What a place, so much to see and experience. Fantastic beaches, pools, places to eat and drink. Most things were complementary with lots of space and while we shared the island with another cruise ship (up to c7000 people)bit never felt too busy in any of the areas. Although we didn’t try the water park. 7 hours wasn’t enough RC to be honest. We were only in Nassau the next day so not sure why we couldn’t stay longer. However I cannot mark down for this. We had a fantastic day that will long be remembered. Hope to revisit again one day.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 26, 2023

More private and liked that there were mostly adults enjoying the pool and Beach area.We made reservations for lunch which is highly recommended . Pool loungers Chairs with umbrellas and towels also the use of Rafts for the beach area. Will definitely stay there again. We checked out the entire island by taking the Trams. Loved that everything was organized, clean especially the bathrooms, the hand towels were a nice touch.Maybe next time a cabana would be nice if we were traveling with a large group.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2023

We spent the day at Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas. It was a stunning island with a lot going on. The cruise line has you captive though because everything is controlled by them. The zip line was short (3 tracks, 15 minutes) and not worth the cost $114. The water park was amazing, especially the devils peak slide (tallest in North America )but again expensive over $100 each person and we only did 3 slides because the lines were so long. Get off the boat ASAP as lounge chairs get taken fast and the special slides issue passes which ran out by 930 am. So even though we had purchased passes for the slide park there were still slides our family couldn’t go on. There was a floating bar which was special and fun. Get off the cruise for sure and check this island out but don’t zip line or waterpark. There were a lot of kiosks selling souvenirs but were a lot more expensive than other islands selling the same stuff

My husband and I had an amazing time during our visit to CoCo Cay! We rented a beach bed for the day and completely relaxed! The rental included 2 beach chairs, 2 water floaters, and 4 bottles of water! We were able to relax and soak in views of the ship from our bed. However- we were promised access to a bar tender to fetch drinks from the VERY busy bar and we did not see the bar tender once. We were centrally located within the beach bed area and we actively tried to find the person responsible for drinks. We even asked a second staff member where we could find the bar tender but they did not know the answer to this question. We were disappointed because we really wanted to utilize our deluxe drink package while on the island. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the bar tender all day and had to brave the crowds at one of the central bars. Other than the lack of bar tender (which was advertised upon booking) we had a great and relaxing day!

This is a very nice beach area which you do not need to rent the cabanas and beach beds if you want to just relax. The beaches are clean with decent sand frontage. There are lots of umbrellas and loungers to use here even when the big ships with 6000 people get off the island. The fodd variety isn’t large when royal Caribbean is docked but is okay for lunch. The snorkel equipment is okay for the days use but if you want to bring your own it saves $35. There are some sights in the water area that they have planted to see. Bring a towel off ship and soak up the sun and relax.

This WOULD HAVE been great, had it not been for 65 degree (F) weather with 35 mph winds -- which isn't Royal Caribbean's fault, of course. All of the aquatic activities and the hot air balloon were canceled. Believe the port should've been skipped and passengers refunded. It didn't help that we'd booked a very, very expensive private cabana on Chill Island. Again, not Royal Caribbean's fault.
On the plus sides, tram transportation was very efficient, and the chicken sandwich is the best I've ever eaten. We gave up after about three hours and went back to the ship. I believe the water park may've still been open, but since we have no children, we opted to skip it.
I'd also like to commend Royal Caribbean for its many accommodations for the handicapped. I'm not disabled but appreciate that they have beach (sand) wheelchairs, trams with ramps, and multiple large bathroom stalls available for people who are.

Coco Cay is an amazing waterpark! We came and there were just two boats. You can expect to wait 45 minutes to an hour for the really big waterslides. As the day wore on the wait time definitely got less. I do not recommend the beach was mud under the water and smelled really bad. I don’t know if it’s better on the beach club side, I would hope it is at $200 a person. I’m hoping this is just a seasonal thing and it’s not mud all year round!

Had a good day, but not quite a Perfect day at Coco Cay.
We paid extra to go to the waterpark, which was good but was quite busy with upto 30 minute queues for some most slides, as there were 2 ships in. Once the other ship left (I think it was the massive Symphony of the seas with upto circa 6,000 passengers), the wait time dropped massively to 5 minutes / walk on. We was on the Explorer of the Seas, circa 3,000 passengers.
The water slides were good, but not the best compared to other big waterparks i have been to, with the exception of the 'Daredevil tower' slides which was FAST. There was no lazy river for relaxing on which was a bit of a surprise. The wavepool was good though with quite big waves and was switched on regularly.
Would pay for the waterpark in future if I was able to find out what ships were going to be in port on the day of my visit and there was only 1, or 2 smaller ships. (Cruisemapper or similar sights might be helpful).
The rest of Coco Cay was nice, with plenty of loungers, food on the island wasn't as good as on the ship, and a bit basic.
The Zip line didn't look as good as that on the other port we called in at Labade, Haiti.
Very Good but not perfect.

After bobbing around for a week on the Symphony of theSeas and enjoying the very limited time we spent on the two natural islands we stopped at we were not prepared for the full on disappointment of Coco Cay. Be warned this is not like the other islands it is a man made resort by Royal Caribbean design to fleece you of any money you have left after spending a week on the boat.
We were waiting round the side of the island for a number of hours before we could disembark due to the weather. A great view of a building site round the side of the island. When we did disembark it dawns on you that this is a glorified water park and the price of this is extortionate. Luckily myself and the Mrs were on our own with no kids as the costs fo everything on the island is astronomical. We walked round the island quickly and found nothing to do. The only natural area was at the very end by the garden where theres a few hammocks.
Coco Cay is a converted island which was obviously just a small scrub chalk island originally.
The water is very cloudy so don't get excited about any snorkelling or pay for any of these excursions as you won't see anything as its too cloudy. There are a lot of stinging jellyfish too so be careful in the water
Its is also very exposed so any adverse weather they stop the excursions, we paid for the swimming with pigs trip. Which was cancelled without any notice and we had to hunt round the island for anyone to inform us.
All in all a real disappointing end to the cruise after the natural beauty of St Maarten and the other small islands we stopped at.

This is the second time we have been here. The first time we walked down the pier made a left went to the first beach and it was nice! There were chairs with umbrellas not for pay type things.. past many huts with souvenirs you could buy or just look at. So this time we thought we'd go for a short period of time jump in the water and come back to the ship, however.. we chose to take a shuttle down the pier it doesn't stop where you would go left so they bring you all the way down to another section You get off that shuttle and wait in an obnoxious line to get on another shuttle no kidding you have to take two shuttles no choice You are not allowed to walk at that point.. so now you're in an enormous line getting on an overcrowded shuttle, again! Then they take you around and drop off in five spots throughout the island. We get off at the first stop there were far too many people way more than last time and lots of for pay areas including cabanas floaties all cost extra.. I did get in the ocean which was nice but it was crowded there were lots of fish to see I even saw a crab.. I liked all that but it was too far and then to get back of course you've got to do it all again! My advice would be just walk down the pier go left to that first beach and then walk back it's much faster and you don't have to wait in horrible lines. I'm certain they're improvements are good for some people, we definitely not them! They did not improve on the free stuff, oh except for a huge pool which I don't understand because we have that on the ship? What's the point? I wanted the ocean.. again maybe someone else likes that choice not me. It seems they added a bunch of stuff that all cost extra and all the free stuff or I should say included stuff since we have already paid is very limited and hard to get to. Also extremely difficult for handicaps. My husband has bad knees had a very hard time getting in and out of the shuttles and standing in lines and walking and there are no choices on those things. Honestly my advice is if you can't walk the pier and approximately length of the pier to the beach I would probably skip this stop.

CocoCay has mainly sand roads, paths and beach areas. Hard surfaces are only at the pier, beach club and very limited walkways. It is not currently designed for anyone in a regular wheelchair, power chair or scooter who cannot transfer into one of their beach wheel chairs and being pushed by your party member in soft sand for long distances. They have a handicap shuttle but they drop you off in sandy areas except at Beach Club $200 a day per individual or the cabanas at $2,100. Limited bathroom access and no beach access to regular wheelchairs, scooters or power chairs and wouldn't recommend going to the island for a general visit unless you can get through soft sand. Overall, in my opinion, if you cannot transfer to a beach wheel chair and then being pushed by someone in your party don't go to CocoCay island unless you want to spend money for access at the Beach Club (still no access to beach) or floating expensive cabanas. They need to improve hard surfaces accessibility for wheelchairs, scooter and power chairs without having to transfer to a beach chair.

For this review, I will mainly review the waterpark.
We got off the ship as early as possible, but a little after I wanted. We made a beeline with chill beach to set up shop for the day. There was nobody there and we set down in the front row under an umbrella.
We then backtracked to the waterpark to ride the taller/longer slides. The wait times were pretty reasonable at that time of morning--maybe 15 minutes for the long red slide at the top. There really wasn't much of a line for the other slides. After riding the "thrill" slides, we went over to the slides where you go down in tubes/mats. After that, we went back for swimming/snorkeling at Chill Beach.
Chill Beach: If you want to see stuff in the water, you can bring your own gear or rent. I didn't rent before getting to the island, but decided to fork over some money because I wanted to snorkel. To me, the best snorkeling is just off the floating island furthest from the beach. RC submerged what looks like cannons and part of a ship to try to create the beginnings of an artificial reef (yes, they are not "real"). It's worth spending some time snorkeling around.
Waterpark Tip #1: Buy your tickets early and then keep checking the price. The first time I booked tickets, they were on sale for about $100/person. Then, I scored a Thanksgiving sale for a little over $70/person. Closer to the cruise, it increased to nearly $150/person.
Waterpark Tip #2: Go as early as possible. Be the first people off the ship and you will ride alone for about 30 minutes before the crowds appear. If you don't like to wake up early, hit the water park later in the day. I went back around 3:00ish and there weren't any lines.

Good question and one we wish we would have asked. Simply - if they are old enough to get up/down the stairs/slides etc. on their own - I say let 'em go. We took son/DIL/GKids and bought tix for all. I pooped out early - the DIL and GDaughter bailed out even before going in (partially because there is really a lot to do without the water park. Hindsight I consider the paid attraction of the water park a distraction). Anyway unless you feel obligated to be there to actively participate or watch from afar in many cases - save your dough or get one of those beach front cabanas on Chill Island as I recall. Not the uber expensive one. Great place to call base and still be part of the action.
