Try and go when it’s early because the bottom is a tourist trap. Hard to take photos and move through the crowd. However once you start climbing the mountain the crowd thins out, don’t need a guide just walk up the steps and keep going up. At the top of the mountain there’s a loop with three shrines. Totally unique experience nothing like it. Absolutely worth going out of your way to see it. Also one of the few free shrines in the area.

I took the City Bus #206 from the Kyoto Station to this attraction. It was a long 45 minute ride, cost is 230 yen per person. Entrance fee to this attraction is 500 yen.

It was a short walk from the Main Gate to see the gold- colored pagoda. Lots of picture taking here! We moved along and passed 2 small snack stores and an old shrine where visitors were ringing the bells. Note that no entry is allowed inside the attraction.

After 10 minutes, the visit was finished. Bus ride was longer than my visit here!

It's the most beautiful temple in Kyoto situated on a small mountain. It is famous for the viewing platform, three storey pagoda and spring water. Kiyomizu-dera is Kyoto's most popular tourist attraction. The main hall has a large veranda, supported by tall pillars, that projects out 13 meters over the hillside and offers impressive views of the city. The Pillars and the floor is made from wood without using a single nail. The bright colors of the temple and the view surrounding it gives very good photo opportunity. It should not be missed.

The small, melted 3-wheeled child's bicycle displayed with photographs of the children who used it until August 6, 1945, is heart-wrenching...

At 08:15, the US Army Air Forces dropped the atomic bomb over Hiroshima, and 70,000 men, women, and children were instantly incinerated. The estimated total death toll from this single bomb is believed to be at least 200,000.

Visiting the simple peace museum in Hiroshima and silently confronted with photos of entirely ordinary, often smiling people from before this pivotal moment in history juxtaposed with charred bodies and destroyed objects - and reading that Hiroshima was chosen as a target because the bomb would have maximum effect here - well, it's hard to buy into the official explanations that the A-bomb saved many more lives by ending the war with a definitive bang.

Is there a valid argument for cold-bloodedly killing so many completely innocent people - including tens of thousands of children?

The heart still weeps after visiting the museum and its accompanying peace park. The only solace is walking out into the city afterward and enjoying the sight of thousands of cheerful, chatting, eating, loving people, living and thriving.

Dotonbori is a place where one should spend some time seeing the activities going on. It feels like some festival going on there. There are a plenty of shops, restaurants, some are decorated with lights. The place is very crowded, but the walking path on the riverside is quiet. Overall it's a nice place to spend some time.

Located at the end of nakamise shopping street, it felt busy and lively. Everyone is taking lots of photos and some people are in traditional clothes. The temple was rebuilt recently so is in good condition but doesn’t feel old. There are other smaller shrines which were relocated nearby, so can read some history and take some photos. Lots of street food and restaurants nearby. Worth going out of your way to see.

A lovely park with some outstanding different sorts of gardens but the main thing is the very old, from 1200-1300, cherry blossom trees that looks more lika oaks and are absolutely astounding. Quite an experience and apparently there is 65 different varieties of cherry blossom trees in the park

Todaoji temple is one of the famous landmarks of Nara. It was built during 710 - 794 AD by Emperor Shomu. In this magnificent temple Vairocana Buddha is worshiped. The statue of Vairocana Buddha is made from bronze, which gold plated. It is flanked by two Bodhisattvas. The statue was established in 752, but was damaged and repaired several times over centuries. The Buddha Hall was was damaged by fire and rebuilt. It's one of the largest wooden structures in the world. A popular attraction in the temple is a pillar with a whole. People try to squeeze through the whole as it's supposed to bring enlightenment. The temple is within Nara park and there are several smaller temples around it.

Right next to harajuku station so really easy to get to. I went at 8 in the morning so it wasn’t too busy. It’s a pretty large shrine with a beautiful walk in. Don’t need a guide and it’s free entry- though you need to pay for the garden, I think it was 300¥. Quite easy to spend lots of time here. Not too far from harajuku and shibuya so can get food after.
