为“黄大嗓”。黄鹤小的时候就表现出很强的音乐天分，光着脚丫就跳就蹦。黄鹤的爸爸妈妈都喜欢唱歌，全家人有一个习惯，平时就喜欢跑到山上去“嚎”一首。“嚎”的时候，都喜欢把鞋子脱掉，据说这样比较有感觉，比较踏实。黄鹤也继承了父母的这种“传统”，她表示光着脚唱歌很舒服，很踏实，会让自己想起，在家乡踩着泥土的感觉。
黄鹤的爸爸妈妈下岗早，所以家庭条件不是很好，感受到父母养育自己的艰辛，黄鹤希望能够通过自己的努力让父母的生活变得更好。在参加浙江卫视《中国好声音》的时候，黄鹤直言，自己的梦想是，希望能够站在大大的舞台上，唱歌给爸爸妈妈听。要为爸爸妈妈，为自己的家乡争一口气。
在参加浙江卫视《中国好声音》的盲选时，黄鹤赤着脚，演唱了一首格莱美最佳女歌手、英国灵魂女声阿黛尔·阿德金斯的《Rolling in the deep》，凭着精彩的演绎，成功让杨坤、庾澄庆和那英为之转身。第一个转过身来的杨坤直言黄鹤的声音有一种国际范儿，这是吸引他转身的原因。而那英更是被黄鹤的赤脚表演打动，主动脱掉鞋子，光着脚丫上台，和黄鹤共同演唱了自己的经典作品《征服》。最终，黄鹤选择了那英为自己的导师。
《中国好声音》导师考核，黄鹤和侯祖辛被分为一组，两人演唱了英国女歌手Jessie J的《Domino》，在这场表演上，黄鹤还是保持了她上一次的那种节奏感，动感十足的表现（刘欢评语），脚踏实地的舞台表现也赢得了庾澄庆的肯定。不过，最后侯祖辛凭借声音的多变性更高，赢得了这场导师考核，黄鹤遗憾的离开了《中国好声音》的舞台。虽然没能走得更远，但这个年仅20岁的在校女生，以她淳朴至真的表现成功打动了很多观众朋友的心。
黄鹤生在贫困县，从小在父母的感染下，喜欢赤脚唱歌，声音具有爆发力，带着大舞台歌唱的梦想而来。
