Games for Windows LIVE login

This has always frustrated me to no end so I'll try to put this as politely as possible without having a tourettes fit.

I'm trying to log into Games for windows Live, within a game, but I can't for the life of me get my password into the game. My password is something on the lines of lavLW6dzT5tn3uoSKQKPsXHKybszKh4l, making it quite tedious to memorize. Trying to ctrl+v yields nothing, right-click equally so, does nothing. Pasting the password into the login id textfield and re-typing it in the password textfield works, but as soon as I mouse over or select the password field it empties it, making the whole login procedure the most inane, frustrating, experience ever.

So what mayst I do to login without feeling the need to bash my head against a wall until unconscious just to escape the horror that is the games for windows live login?

Since I'm disallowed the use of the same password twice I'm put in a position where a password manager seems like the only sensible option but Microsoft then seem to do everything they can to thwart that.
