Description

Hi everyone,

For the Board Game Dark Ages I had to create various playable characters, each with their own personalities and abilities.

This is William the Pious, a Frankish duke who built various monastic foundations and abbeys in Aquitaine; Overall he was a more pleasant and more pacifist leader than most of his contemporaries.

Marvellous painting! He certainly looks like a saintly man. Particularly fine cloth folds (not a simple thing to draw, or sculpt, in my experience!) and sublime lighting effects. Perfect artwork for its subject matter, not least for its subtle and period-accurate details with the illuminated manuscript.
