William "Billy" Jackson Adams
May 30, 1944 - October 11, 2022
Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina - William "Billy" Jackson Adams, a resident of Fuquay Varina, NC, left his earthly home on October 11, 2022. He was surrounded by his family and resting comfortably at his home when he passed.
Billy was born in Willow Springs, NC, on May 30, 1944, to the late James Carlie Adams, Sr. and the late Julia Hobbs Adams. He was a member of the first graduating class from Campbell College receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Billy used his college degree and strong work ethic; his sense of responsibility, integrity and entrepreneurial spirit to participate in local, multi state and international businesses. He was an integral player in several successful businesses including Southern Landscape Professionals, Panther Creek Nursery, SODCO, Amadas Industries and Planters Warehouse. These are just a few of the businesses that benefited from his active participation and investment. He served on the Board of Directors of AMADAS Industries, United Community Bank, Branch Banking and Trust, Four Oaks Bank and Advisory Board at AgCarolina Farm Credit. Billy believed in giving back to his community- by donating to nonprofit organizations, supporting small business, and mentoring and encouraging young businessmen and women.
Billy also enjoyed many hobbies-such as off-shore fishing, golf, Snow Skiing, NC State Football and various forms of racing. He enjoyed each of these activities surrounded by his strong, supportive social circle.
Billy is survived by his brother, James Carlie (Dana) Adams, II of Suffolk, VA, two daughters: Julie A. (Terry) Dickens of Willow Springs and Sarah A. (Joseph) Ogburn of Fuquay-Varina and his son: William J. "Bill" (Melissa) Adams, Jr. of Willow Springs He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jennie D. (Dustin) Harrell, Emily Dickens, Katie Dickens, Ellie Dickens, Terry Dickens, Jr., William J. "Trey" (Kimberly) Adams, III, Jackson C. Adams, Taylor M. Adams, Joseph C. "Joe" Ogburn, II, and Carlie F. Ogburn. Two great-grandchildren: Jamison and Leif Harrell and his niece, Cameron E. Hill of Chocowinity. Billy was predeceased by his second wife, Judy Hill Adams and sister, Patricia A. Bullard.
Thomas Funeral Home of Fuquay-Varina is in charge of the arrangements. A private service will be held for immediate family on Sunday, October 16.
