GENERAL INFORMATION

The Honors Program at Wright College is designed to enhance the college experience for highly motivated students who are talented, intellectually curious, ambitious, and who desire academic challenges.

We invite you to join us!

The Honors curriculum will prepare you to achieve your academic and professional goals, excel at every stage of your undergraduate education and build an academic community with peers and faculty members. Plus, one of the core goals of Wright's Honors Program is to promote transfer to leading public and private 4-year colleges and universities and to facilitate scholarship opportunities.

Honors courses will be offered in various academic disciplines and emphasize critical thinking, research skills, analytical writing, speaking, the use of primary source material, and information literacy.

Students who successfully complete at least four Honors courses in the Honors Program or two Honors Courses and two Honors Projects will earn an Honors Certificate.

At the end of this application, you will be asked to submit a brief essay. Please prepare a 400-500 word personal statement that answers ONE of the following questions:

1. If you had the complete attention of your community for five minutes, what would you say, and what would you hope to accomplish by communicating with them?
2. Describe the world from where you come and explain how this world has shaped your hopes and dreams.
3. People who take creative and thoughtful risks make a difference in the world. Describe a time when you found the courage to step outside of your comfort zone to do something unexpected and completely unlike you. Why did you take this risk? What did you learn from the experience?
4. Describe how one idea, invention, work of art, or scientific experiment has inspired your thinking.
