Clint Eastwood
Western movies aren't really my favorite genre and I've never heard of this classic until today, but I am glad to have seen it. Clint Eastwood made me feel the pain of the Confederate soldier better than any book or movie I've come across before. Josey Wales is a good man deep down inside, but after some Union thugs kill his family and burn down his home, he gives up farming and goes full badass.
I like how Josey Wales spits out his chew on everything. Scorpions, spiders, and bounty hunters he just wasted all get some. The only time he doesn't do it is out of respect for an old lady he rescued and befriended.
The Native Americans respect him because he is totally fearless and is no friend to the "blue coats". Some of the best lines come from his old Cherokee friend, Lone Watie. When Josey Wales complains that all the people he likes tend to die, Lone Watie replies,
Chief Dan George
"I've noticed that when you start disliking someone, they ain't around for long neither."
I have no idea how this gem just came across my radar recently. It makes me believe in the Mandela Effect even more. Have you ever felt sure that you just got in an accident or fight, died, then woke up the next day? It's been happening to me since I was a kid. It could also have been watching too many re-runs of Quantum Leap. Thanks for reading about Josey Wales today. I used Wikipedia to get the names and dates right and used screenshots from the film.
