  3. We will be traveling to Italy and are hoping to find DiVita relatives in Resuttano, Valledolmo areas. Our ancestors are Luigi (b. 1881), Giacomo (b. 1882) and Guiseppi (b. 1886) DiVita. Parents were Salvatore and Calcedonia (Barca) DiVita. The 3 sons were born in Resuttano, immigrated to the US in 1893 and settled in Niagara Falls, NY. Any guidance or information would be appreciated.

    1. My grandfather Pasquale DiVita was also born in Resuttano, 1886 . He migrated to NYC around 1910 and later married my grandmother Calogera Scaccia(Caltavuturo,Sicily). Pasquale DiVita had 2 brothers Giuseppe and Lorenzo, Giuseppe migrated to Sao Paolo, Brazil ,eventually lost contact . Lorenzo remained in NYC and did not have any children. Pasquale also had 2 sisters ,Sadie and Carmela. Sadie remained in the NYC area and married(Inzinna) and Carmela married (Basile) and moved to NJ. My son on his honeymoon visited Resuttano and was directed to the “commune” where the staff was very helpful in providing my grandfathers immediate family background. Also in the local church, records were kept and the DiVita name is also displayed on one of the church’s walls. My wife and I also visited Resuttano – very small village in 2013. Time restraints had us there on a Sunday so any record searching were not possible. Basically visit the commune and definitely the church for info on the DiVita name. Enjoy !!

  4. My Great Grandmother, Giuseppa D’Anna was born in Resutanno OCt 7, 1885. She emigrated to Manhatten, NY with two of her sisters, Rosa and Antonina, around 1905 or 1906 ish. She marrried my Gr Grandfather in Manhatten in 1908. I know her parents were Rosario D’Anna ( his parents were Giuseppe D’Anna and Calogera Macaluso) and Francesca La Rocca (parents: Antonio La Rocca and Concetta Pergola). I know that Francesca La ROcca D’Anna died when my grandmother was 14. Her Father remarried in about 1907 to a Carmela Profita around the time my grandmother and Aunts emigrated. The siblings they left behind were Calogera, Giuseppe, and Giovanna. They had a baby sister Domenica, who died shortly after her birth. I dont know anything about them. I know some of the remaining siblings moved up to Milan to find work.I want to find out more about these ancestors and see if I can trace back farther. I would also like to find out if I have cousins remaining in Resutanno.

  5. Hi

I am researching my heritage. My family is from Rusuttano. My grandfather name is Angelo Barbera. He was from there and I was told that the Barbera’s built a church in the town. I gave the Barbera Coat of Arms and he was born in approx 1900 I believe. My aunt visited and said it was such a beautiful town. She was greeted with such hospitality. I don’t know his parents and I’m trying to research. Any information or direction would help.

    Thank you
