The mere fact that there is a sequel to a movie called Buried Alive should immediately tell you how believable it is and yet I still found myself pretty entertained by it. I do have to discuss the plot and I feel like this is an obscure enough movie to where it’s safe to do that, but just in case…arrrr warning matey! thar be spoilers ahead!
So the wife in this one just happens to be the goddaughter (played by Ally Sheedy) of Tim Matheson’s character in the first movie. I really don’t know why they needed to make that connection other than to have Matheson reprise his role, but Sheedy gets “killed” using the same fish toxin but this…
Sometimes they come back for even more. Sometimes Tim Matheson comes back as both director and co-star. This deserves a bit of credit for managing to replicate most of the first film while slyly functioning as a sequel, too. It's more ridiculous and fails to one-up its predecessor, but I still sort of dug it.
i saw the original 30 years ago when i was in middle school and it left a huge impression on me. im not claustrophobic but jennifer jason leigh’s terrible fate in that first one really bothers me even to this day. it’s not especially gory or explicit, it’s just horrifying to imagine. this has been on my letterboxd watchlist ever since i first got this app and discovered there was a sequel. well… i finally got the chance to watch it.
i knew it wouldnt be good—the first one even isnt « good » but still. the thrust of the movie was the conclusion. by comparison, i expected their fate in this one to be as creative and macabre as the first one. i kept waiting for the big twist. and then when i realized that was all, i felt so disappointed. sigh.
Buried Alive II is Buried Alive switching the man and woman roles. It's more predictable than the first movie.
Basically just a slightly worse, gender-flipped version of the original Buried Alive.
It's not exceedingly bad or anything, it just isn't about a dude making a booby-trapped deathhouse for his attempted murderers in a weird supervillain getup, either.
Não chega a se diferenciar muito do filme anterior, os efeitos são legais e o roteiro é basicamente a mesma coisa do primeiro, ainda é muito bem feito mas não chega a ser tão divertido, mesmo assim, vale a pena
