What we’re about
Sunday Assembly Atlanta is a life-celebrating congregation without deity, dogma, or doctrine. We host many gatherings each month to create connection, nurture personal growth, help others, and inspire you with new ideas.
Our motto: live better, help often, wonder more. Our mission: to help everyone find and fulfill their full potential.

Sunday Assembly Atlanta is part of the international movement of people who want to celebrate the one life we know we have. You can find other Assemblies in Los Angeles, Nashville, Edinburgh, Pittsburgh, London, and over 20 locations found on this map.
We are here for everyone who wants to:
* Live Better. We aim to provide inspiring, thought-provoking and practical ideas that help people to live the lives they want to lead and be the people they want to be
* Help Often. Assemblies are communities of action building lives of purpose, encouraging us all to help anyone who needs it to support each other
* Wonder More. Hearing talks, singing as one, listening to readings and even playing games helps us to connect with each other and the awesome world we live in.
The Sunday Assembly
1. Is 100% celebration of life. We are born from nothing and go to nothing. Let’s enjoy it together.
2. Has no doctrine. We have no set texts so we can make use of wisdom from all sources.
3. Has no deity. We don’t do supernatural but we also won’t tell you you’re wrong if you do.
4. Is radically inclusive. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their beliefs – this is a place of love that is open and accepting.
5. Is free to attend, not-for-profit and volunteer run. We ask for donations to cover our costs and support our community work.
6. Has a community mission. Through our Action Heroes (you!), we will be a force for good.
7. Is independent. We do not accept sponsorship or promote outside businesses, organizations or services.
8. Is here to stay. With your involvement, The Sunday Assembly will make the world a better place.
9. We won’t tell you how to live, but will try to help you do it as well as you can.
10. And remember point 1… The Sunday Assembly is a celebration of the one life we know we have. What should you expect from a Sunday Assembly event? Just by being with us you should be energized, vitalized, restored, repaired, refreshed and recharged.
No matter what the subject of the Assembly, it will solace worries, provoke kindness and inject a touch of transcendence into the everyday. But life can be tough… It is. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, we have moments of weakness or life just isn’t fair. We want The Sunday Assembly to be a house of love and compassion, where, no matter what your situation, you are welcomed, accepted and loved. Most of all, have fun, be nice and join in.
Welcome to Sunday Assembly’s Help Often Week! Join us as we live out an important part of our motto, which is to “Live Better, Help Often, and Wonder More” in this one life we know we have. April 13 - 21 local chapters all over the US and UK will also be volunteering at their own events.
Join Sunday Assembly Atlanta as we help our urban forest. Wear a Sunday Assembly shirt if you have one or let us know in the comments if you'd like to buy one!
We’re so excited to work together as a community to do good and demonstrate the positive values our people live every day.

Tree Care in Chosewood Park
Care for young trees in Chosewood Park to help our urban forest thrive. Activities include weeding and refreshing the mulch around trees, staking, watering, and picking up litter. We will be caring for trees throughout the neighborhood, which will require intermittent walking and possibly driving your personal vehicle to a 2nd location. You can ride in a Trees Atlanta truck if you walked to the site. Physical activity such as bending, lifting, and kneeling is required. Tree care can be physically strenuous - be ready to break a sweat and get dirty!
What to wear and bring with you
- Gloves: Bring your own work gloves.
- Recommended clothing: Long pants are recommended as you may be kneeling on the ground. All volunteers need closed-toed shoes or boots, clothes that can get dirty.
- Tools: Trees Atlanta provides necessary tools, but if you'd like to bring your own, any of the following tools would be helpful: hand cultivators, hand weeders.
- Drinking water: We strongly recommend you bring drinking water in reusable containers. No one-time-use plastic bottles, please.
- Allergy medication: If you've experienced life-threatening allergic reactions to insects, please come prepared with your own emergency medicine, such as an auto-injector or oral medication. Please notify the coordinator of your need for medication in the case of an allergic attack.
- You may also want: Sunscreen and bug spray as needed, snacks as needed (Trees Atlanta will not provide any of these items).
Liability Release
All volunteers will sign a waiver upon arrival at the project. You can preview our liability and photo release waiver here. There is no need to print a waiver ahead of time unless you are 16 or 17 and attending without a parent/guardian.
Age requirements
This activity is best for ages 12 and up. Volunteers who are 16+ are allowed to attend without a parent/legal guardian present if they bring a signed waiver with them to the project.
Weather
Projects happen rain or shine, so please check the weather beforehand and come prepared. We will cancel projects if inclement weather such as lightning occurs and is forecasted to persist for the duration of the project. Because weather is sometimes unpredictable, the decision to cancel is typically made at the project start time. We will contact you via email if we choose to cancel in advance.
No restrooms are available on site
Most of our work sites are in public parks and greenspaces that do not have public restroom facilities available. Volunteers will need to leave the site to use the restroom at a local business.
Parking Safety
Do not leave valuables in your car when attending projects. When parking along streets in neighborhoods, please do not block driveways and observe street laws such as 'No Parking' signs, fire hydrants, emergency lanes, etc.

Meeting ID: 875 5525 6659
Passcode: 861888
This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Click >>HERE<< to check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!
