A popular area movie theater will pop its last batch of popcorn and roll credits on its final film later this week.
The owner of the Palace 9 Cinema in South Burlington, Merrill Theaters, announced the closure of the theater on social media, saying it was with heavy hearts that the decision was made to close one of their locations.
"We have loved each and every second of the last 30 years seeing our favorite people, all of you every day," the post read in part.
Sister locations Merrill's Roxy Cinema in Burlington and Majestic 10 in Williston will remain open, according to the post.
The theater's final day of operation will be Thursday, Nov. 9. As a special thank you and goodbye to patrons, the theater will be offering $1 movie tickets, $1 sodas and $1 popcorns throughout its final day of operation.
