Not sure what to say?

Although it's been a year since the passing of Maj. Robert Hightower, the tears still flow. Mrs. Betty, I know that it was extremely hard for you to return to the H. M. Turner High School Alumni Assoc. meeting, which marked the one year anniversary of Maj. Hightower's death, but you pressed on. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit, keep holding you up as you persevere. Remember ..."In Christ there are no endings ...only beginnings."

As the Chaplain for the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Georgia Chapter, I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere thoughts, prayers and condolences to the wife and family of Retired DPS Major, Robert Hightower. I have known Major Hightower an excess of 40 years. I knew him when he first joined the Georgia State Patrol in 1970. He and I policed together in Southwest Atlanta during that period. I was an officer with the Atlanta Police Department at that time. We also served together at the Martin Luther King, Jr. f Center for a number of years. He provided Executive Security for Daddy King and Mrs. Christine King-Farris; I provided Executive security for Mrs. Coretta Scott-King and the King Center for over 20 years. He was a man of tremendous distinction and integrity and a true example for police officers throughout this nation. He will truly be missed. May God stretch his loving arms around his lovely wife and family for peace and comfort. Ret. Atlanta Police Lt. and NOBLE Chaplain, Bishop LaSalle Smith, Sr.

I am so sorry to hear of Major Hightower’s passing, please accept my deepest condolences. He was the supervisor of the department that I worked in and he was the nicest person to work for. We would often see him reading his Bible and having a moment of prayer. Then he would come out and greet us with ’good morning ladies’ to the insurance unit. He was so understanding dealing with an office full of women and their responsibility as working mothers. I'm sure this is a credit to Mrs. Hightower. Please know that my sympathy and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
