NBC’s new hit show ‘The Blacklist’ stars talented local actress Megan Boone

It appears NBC has a hit on its hands with “The Blacklist.”

The show stars veteran actor James Spader alongside a “local girl,” Megan Boone, granddaughter of Villages developer Gary Morse. Boone is the daughter of Jennifer Parr, director of sales for The Villages.

Boone plays rookie FBI profiler Liz Keen.

Spader’s character Raymond “Red” Reddington is a traitor who turns himself into the FBI and will only work with Boone’s character.

“Boone brings the requisite youthful loveliness, and she is convincing enough as a profiler with her own painful past. More important, she seems to know just how much room Spader needs, which is good,” wrote the Los Angeles Times.

Boone, a graduate of Belleview High School, is hardly an overnight sensation.

She has worked hard in what is famously a tough business.

Last year, she got a break when she won a temporary role on the CBS show “Blue Bloods.” Prior to that she played Junior Deputy District Attorney Lauren Stanton on “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” until it was canceled.

She has appeared in “My Bloody Valentine 3D,” “Sex and the City 2” and “Step Up Revolution.”

In 2010, she directed the independent film “Eggshells for Soil,” portions of which were shot here in The Villages.

Veteran actress Jane Alexander has been a powerful influence on Boone. When the younger actress was on the verge of quitting acting, Alexander talked her out of it. Alexander has signed on for guest appearances on “The Blacklist.”

You can catch the “The Blacklist” Monday nights on WESH-2 at 10 p.m.
