Buffalo Mayor, Mayor Byron Brown of Buffalo announces Winter Parking Regulations for Buffalo, where Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is Mayor (of Buffalo).
Buffalos Mayor for Life, Mayor Byron Brown, Mayor of Buffalo, NY
Just a friendly reminder that Brown’s refusal to raise taxes results in more of this nonsense. No significant snow in the forecast, but gotta get that ticket revenue flowing or else. Homeowners, the ones reaping the most benefits of Buffalo’s “resurgence” through the appreciation of their homes value, are also the ones least effected by these aggressive parking enforcement policies.
Ermmmm there’s been snow on the ground already and more in the forecast coming. Why wouldn’t we be announcing parking bans?
Where/when has a plowable accumulation of snow fallen within the city of Buffalo this November?
Well, it used to be quite regularly. Thank you to climate change, it's becoming rarer.
But, like "November Storm"? "October Surprise"? Ring bells?
I can vividly remember year of my childhood wearing a winter coat over my Halloween costume because it was snowing. I can also remember years rather recently when the weather in November was so nice that the city delayed winter parking rules. By all means, if there is an accumulation of snow in the forecast, the city should keep the rules in place and be ready to plow side streets and is routes.
How long have you lived in Buffalo? We could get 2 feet a snow tonight out of nowhere. First sign of snow has always been the trigger to announce parking bans. Every town is announcing bans it’s nothing specific to COB
The parking changes go into effect on a date, not due to a forecast. In unusually warm or dry years, they have been delayed on occasion. Some suburban municipalities are delaying them this year.
Tonawanda is delaying their winter parking rules.
yea, let's just wait until the first one to make the announcement....
I supposed I’d wonder what different information both Kenmore and Tonawanda have when they chose to delay the start of their winter parking regulations until December 1st this year due to the lack of significant forecasted snow.
idk but the City of Tonawanda banged me for $35 bucks on 10/14 for parking outside of my own house while my inlaws were in town.
For bus routes, sure, winter rules make sense.
But why are the 9-4 side street rules now back to being permanent? Don't need plows in the summer.
Article is very specific that bus routes are for winter, but it doesn't specify that side street parking is for winter.
Seems like a fair trade off
Let’s move the lion’s share of parking enforcement officers from the west side and downtown to south buffalo and residential n. buffalo streets and wait for the complaining to start. Seems fair.

Wew, I wonder how I was able to illegal park on McKinley for 6 hrs without a ticket? Or even overnight?

I don’t make that argument without merit, but sadly I can’t dig up the data to support it at the moment to make my point as a statement of fact.
When I first moved back to Buffalo, many years ago, I ended up on the West Side, and I believe it was either The Public or The Beast, some weekly rag paper had contacted the city and got the raw data of how many parking violations were issued, where they were issued and when. From there they were able to determine how many parking enforcement officers were assigned to each section of the city based on the location of the ticket and the ID number of the officer issuing the ticket. I want to say at the time the city employed 15 parking enforcement officers, if my memory serves me, and the breakdown was overwhelmingly targeting downtown and the west side of Buffalo to the point where it was almost comical. Something like 1 officer for the East Side, 1 for S. Buffalo, 1 for N. Buffalo (before Hertel’s recent resurgence, and the rest divided evenly between Downtown and the west side. Not being able to find the original publication I decided to email the PVB and ask if the data is available or the proper channel to request it.

Funny thing: My neighborhood begged for parking enforcement to start working the streets.
3 months later, they complained, demanded they stop, and they did.
Everyone wants their street plowed but no one wants to start their day with a ticket on their windshield.
I live west of Richmond and didn’t see any tickets….yet. Hard to grab $$ when you don’t staff parking enforcement
Same, on Richmond and haven’t seen tickets. Kinda tempting to not move my car over
I did see the city clean up all the leaves on the side of the street today, so DPW is at least taking advantage of no cars on that side of the street.
A few years back I lived on Columbus Pwky, a very nice hidden gem of a street on the West Side tucked between the Armory and the Peace Bridge. Lots of nice, old, owner occupied homes. We had alternate parking and just about every other week we’d have a street cleaner come down the street. Outside of events, like St Patrick’s Day or the Pride parade, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a street sweeper in Buffalo. Yet there they were, a couple times a month, at least, cleaning a random 4 block long , one way street on the West Side. It always blew my mind.
That's honestly what I thought alternate parking was for when I first moved to Buffalo; so street cleaners would regularly come by. I don't think I've ever seen one.
Coincidentally I saw one today. Not surprisingly on Lincoln Parkway
Look for the +$500k houses and you will find the street sweepers!
Since we didn't need them for 2 years it proves that they are nothing but a money grab
Gotta get that ticket revenue.
didn't you just vote for 4 more years of him?
As I don't live in the CoB that would be no. I am sure India would have suspended the practice of giving out parking tickets and fire the entire department for reasons by now if she had managed to win.
Sure she would of, considering her term would not have started yet. But all your complaining about her on here. One would have thought you had a dog in the game... guess I was wrong, just more of you complaining I guess.
If India was mayor we wouldn’t have to worry about winter parking regulations on bus routes. Screw those bus riders!
You are familiar with "mini tows" right?
