Was Allison Janney blindsided by CBS‘ decision to end Mom?
During an appearance on Wednesday’s The Late Late Show, the Emmy Award winner told James Corden that she anticipated the sober-living comedy would be renewed for at least one more season. But in February, the network made what Janney described as an earlier-than-expected call to end the still-decently rated multi-cam.
“I’m sad,” Janney said. “I wish we’d had at least another year for the writers to have that much time to ramp up to the ending. We sort of found out sooner than we thought we would hear. We thought, ‘Surely they’re going to want more Mom,’ and they decided not.”
The decision to wrap things up, Janney surmised, was probably a financial one.
“There are so many reasons behind it — most of them probably money,” she said. “But I know that Chuck Lorre is writing the final episode, and we’re right now filming the third-to-last episode.
“I’m having a lot of moments where I’m just standing on set and taking it in, and looking at all the faces I’ve looked at for eight years,” Janney continued. “All of a sudden, it’s gone. And no matter how much I prepare myself for it, I know I’m going to be just tears, buckets of tears, because it’s just been so incredible. The amazing letters I get from people who are in the program or got sober with us. It’s been a great show to be a part of, and it’s so rare when you do something like that [where] it affects people in a positive way out in the world. It makes me sad, but onward.” (CBS declined to comment for this story.)
Janney previously reflected on the final-season news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Feb. 18. “Getting to be part of Mom these past eight years — showing the laughter, love and hope that can come with recovery — has been one of the great honors of my life,” she wrote. “I want to thank [executive producers] Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker [and] Nick Bakay, and all the writers… for giving us these wonderfully flawed and lovable characters to bring to life.”
Mom‘s eighth season marked the first (and now only) season without Anna Faris, who played Janney’s on-screen daughter Christy. In the wake of Faris’ departure, Christy was shipped off to Georgetown Law School, in Washington D.C., on a full scholarship.
Do you think now is the right time to end Mom? Press PLAY on the video below — Janney’s remarks about CBS’ decision begin at the 8:55 mark — then hit the comments with your reactions.
Good riddance. I never found this show funny in the least.
Are you OK? Should we call the authorities? It sounds like someone is forcing you to watch a TV show you don’t like. Blink twice if you’re being held captive.
Thank you for that laugh out loud reply!
Glad to see it go . They have got too far from the meaning of the show . Besides some of those actresses are the worst .
Check out the owner’s manual on your tv – i bet there is a way to change the channel.
I literally LOL. Thanks for that.
Omg right you don’t like it watch something different unless you’re just miserable and need something to complain about
thank you! if you don’t like the show, don’t watch it. I do not understand how you can watch a show you so strongly dislike.
Love this show. I am very sad to see it go. It is a show that me and my friends all watch together, while on the phone with each other. It’s a shame. Can think of many other shows that should go besides this one.
Omg. I’m so disappointed that Mom is ending. I always look forward to watching the show. I watch reruns because I can’t get enough. The actors are so talented and I’ve gotten the pleasure of getting to know their characters. I love how they talk about each other and it just rolls off because each knows how much they are cared about. Very sad.
Mom is the only show that makes me laugh out loud. I’m always on the look out four reruns. I wish they had given the writers time to bring the storylines to an end.
That’s one of my favorite shows. I record it weekly. I hate that it is being cancelled.
We never miss the show. We like it and we enjoy watching it because it’s funny and the the actors truly did an awesome job.
Please continue this show mariée you couleur générale financing from viewers would be willing to contribute importante
You are correct. The best show and so funny!
So true!!
I love this show. I thought they were crazy to end it. I’m still watching the reruns every night.
I was so upset with Adam’s diagnosis when I watched it last night. I didn’t see it coming and because I’m 81 and have anxiety I liked it the way it was. I don’t want reality! I’m so upset that I’m not going to watch it anymore. No thanks for the true life ending!!!
One of the best shows on tv… excellent award winning actresses! Ugh… gi watch the other crud on tv if you don’t like it! Sheesh!
Glad to see You and your opinion go! Projection much!?
So why did u watch
Very funny
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! I needed a good laugh today!
hehehe!
🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
And that is why you’re the Sausage King of Chicago! Thank you for making me laugh on a really garbage day.
Good one.
Ha!! Awesome response.
Thought it. Didn’t say it. Glad you did. LOL!
If you’re a fan of this show . Then you must be as stupid as the show it self.
Mom is sickening, with all the same re runs.
Too much swearing and sexual innuendos too.
Ok grandpa! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh go clutch your pearls somewhere else, Tony.
I’m sure you can watch reruns of the 700 Club if Mom is too much to handle.
Seriously, if you were so offended, you wouldn’t have even clicked on this article. 🙄
The show is great. It’s sad that it ended. No doubt in my mind CBS didn’t want to pay a bunch of strong, talented, beyond deserving women to keep entertaining us (who aren’t offended by their wonderfully timed banter) and helping those going through similar life experiences.
Here’s hoping Netflix picks it up!
Not as stupid as someone watching a show they hate and then wasting their time to talk about it on a message bored. Idk maybe it’s just me but if I don’t like a TV show I don’t watch it or read articles about it.
why on earth did you take the time to comment on an article that you had no interest in? is your day that dull?
You realized that is was an easy comedy to watch on Thursday night ? Different than those shows with guns, murder, sex, cops, hospital, name it ! The most stupid thing here is to take time making a negative comment about it. Why not Just pass on ? The show is over anyway !
I am assuming comments like yours are from people who know nothing about addiction and if that describes you no one could be happier for you than myself. However, with that in mind, you are not qualified, by any stretch of the imagination, to comment on the TV show “Mom”. Unless you have lived an addiction I dont believe you could understand what “Mom” was about
Abe, thanks for the laugh. Unfortunately this guy doesn’t get Mom, so he won’t get you either. But that’s ok, the rest of us did.
I was thinking the EXACT same thing Abe. Why would someone comment if they are not watching a hate that didn’t capture their attention from the beginning???
Amen to that. Clearly someone without a sense of humor.
Just finished watching the last episode of Mom, very sad and disappointed, it was the only show I looked forward to watch, I literally cry at the end, I’ve never been an addict. But everything on the show was relatable and love the way they care for each other.
Funny!! That was great
LOL….what a great reply
But you took the time to comment.
So? Its a fairly common thing on the internet that people will comment about the things they dislike much more than the things they do like. For instance, some people who dislike Netflix keep telling us that every chance they get.
Not sure if an unhappy Netflix subscriber who wants better programming, is the same thing as someone who “never” liked a broadcast show and complains about it 8 years later after its ending is announced.
But you’re right, that kind of griping is very common. It’s also not very useful.
Netflix sucks.
Mom gets sickening with all the same reruns.
Too much swearing and sexual innuendos on mom too.
Don’t tell me to”change the channel”
I only get 4 stations.
Get a lobotomy Anthony.
You ONLY get 4 channels but you are posting ONLINE? Did you know you can get internet/tv on the same satellite? Expand your NARROW world. Without satellite we ONLY get 2 channels BOTH from the nearby University.
Then read a book. Maybe you don’t know but libraries give out FREE library cards.
Then read a book while it’s on.
Read a book then.
4 stations? LOL What kind of prudish bible thumping back woods hick town do you live in? Obviously one that doesn’t know a great comedy tv show if it were to thump you in the head with your bible!!
🤔👎
Ugh. I never watched the show(but love AJ). What is the purpose of dumping on a show that you don’t watch. Its existence doesn’t affect you in the least so I’m just going to presume that you are a crappy human being who likes to take his own frustrations out on others.
BINGO! ❤
wife is a FAN, so it’s on. I have to busy myself with some other distraction to keep myself from criticizing the non stop IDIOTIC laugh tracking.
It’s not a laugh track. It’s a live studio audience (except for this season because of COVID). The laughing is human reaction to a funny show. I know this for a fact because I was in the studio audience for an episode and we were laughing.
They Have Cards To Make Them React. That being Said, I Like This Show & Hate To See It End. Saw it Coming After Anna Farris Left.
How lucky you were to be at a taping of the show I would have loved an opportunity like that!!!!
Probably how your wife feels during sex.
We’re guessing your Wife has to watch the Amazing show to keep busy avoiding You and your criticism. Poor wife.
I’m a fan of the show, but I’m honestly not sad that it’s ending. I knew that when Anna Faris left that this would be the final season. While the show is still entertaining, it’s not the same without the dynamic between Christy and Bonnie. I hope that Anna makes an appearance on the finale, but I doubt she will. Nevertheless, Mom had a good run. Much longer than most people expected it to have. Allison and the crew have a lot to be proud of.
Anna Faris couldn’t act her way out of a wet paper bag!! I was glad to see her go the last season without her was the best! The rest of the characters are what made the show great!
You watched one episode, right?😂
I never found your comment relevant. So I guess that settles that. Most likely because your life is perfect and addiction is something you don’t have to worry about.
Your comment isn’t very relevant, either. Addiction is not something to make a comedy show about. Not everyone suffers from addiction, but that doesn’t mean their lives are perfect.
People make jokes about all kinds of painful life situations. There’s nothing wrong with finding laughter in life’s tragedies. Otherwise, we’d all quickly go insane. Have you even watched the show? I’ve never once seen them insinuate that people who don’t have addictions have perfect lives. I have no idea where you got that from. If you don’t like the show, that’s fine, but don’t make up nonsense to try to validate your opinion.
I agree with you.
Then don’t watch! Others do find it not only funny but serves a community that you know nothing about. What show do YOU really like? So I can put it down.
I love it. They do a great job of representing the addiction community and the struggles they deal with throughout their recovery journey. It shows that addiction shows all type of people. I will miss it
Truthfully I dont miss Anna so much and I thought I would. The rest of the cast are perfect. I love them. So glad Christy’s daughter is gone. What a mess she was. After a while it was time. But I will totally miss them.
Then why did you watch it. I happened to think it was one the of the best shows on TV. You must be an Alcoholci.
Loved the show and I am sorry they are not doing another season!!!
i love it, also!!I am sad that they will not be able to draw it to a natural conclusion
I love love the show. It is very funny and still helpful for people with addictions and other issues. My favorite show and I’m gonna miss it lots. I love Bonnie, Tammy, Adam and Jill the most. Especially Bonnie is the best. Enjoy others and different guest stars. Few shows do I ever watch over and over but I love even their reruns. I want to see them in another comedy.
Why are you here? Be gone!
Don’t be a hater, sooner oof it’s want to laugh.
I have an idea that might help you. When the show comes on, change the channel. Its like so simple.
And then you dont have to get so upset that you write ridiculous things on a public forum where we are all mocking you
Oh man. I was wishing for more mom…truly delightful and enjoyed how the show evolved. I just wish there was more, I need more laughs. Too many mini-dramas and dumb reality shows. I wanna laugh at everyday life situations please.
I Totally agree, Deb!… This Series has a wealth of storylines to explore ~ with This Stellar Cast!!
I totally agree. I watch the reruns regularly. I’m really going to miss it.
Totally agree with you DEB. Not many shows i actually look forward to all week. I guess they’ll have to make another rehash of CSI or Law & Order or even yet again another show about a hospital. Nothing original on tv anymore. Sitcoms are dead
That makes you the rare exception as everyone i know thinks it’s the best comedy in CBS Thursday night line-up.
You are so right
So why are you commenting? Only a lonely, classless child would take the time to do that.
Odd, then, that you apparently watch it and then waste your time reading an article about it ending.
I agree.
Sad, the show made being an addict fighting addiction real. Hummer and heartbreak. It put a spin on a subject everyone walks away from. It was everyday real…the good, the bad and the subjects nobody wants to talk about. Failure, success and even death. Thanks for making it real, great cast, great scripts and a taboo subject.
Rich … so why are you watching? You are making no sense. Are you SURE you took your medication?!
MOM is such an educational and positive show. I learned how an alcoholic recovers. It tells you how bad it has been and how people struggle to get sobriety. It is well written with something bad turned into something good.
Everyone has those shows they love. At least you watched and gave it a chance. I did not like Seinfeld, Big Bang or Two and a half men after giving them 5 episodes each as I didn’t care for the actors. To like a show the actors in it have to be ones you like to connect to.
Than why were you watching it??
I’ll never get over Anna bailing. It’s such a shame she couldn’t stay for one more year. Makes me sad. I wish they would have given them one more year. I’m pretty much done with networks and am done with CBS. Not agreeing with their decisions
[COMMENT REMOVED BY MODERATOR]
I will truly miss this smartly written show about tough, strong women. Although it is very funny, at times it is heart-breaking, touching, and surprisingly religious (when Jesus helped Bonnie overcome her relapse).
These women are a family and are always there for each other.
My feeling is that the network doesn’t have faith in the show without Anna Faris…but they should.
I agree ☝️; there’s So Much More storylines to be explored with This Stellar Cast!!!
I personally thought Bonnie’s 1st sponsee, Patty, would segue Christy’s departure from show
Surprised me that Anna left, but she was apparently ready to do something else for a while.
As to being cancelled, show is failing, to me. Took out the automatic record on it, though will record final show & maybe watch it.
Amen!
I so agree with Chad, I love the show and I’ve never missed an episode, it will be missed!
Took me a while to understand the family banter humour when Mom first came on. Prob bc my moms family mostly banter each other to the point of frustration and hurts. One day able to binge watch 6 episodes; then i got it. This banter is to make one look at themselves, improve what is wrong, and try again if you don’t succeed in witty humour thanks to great writers and cast. All these characters are amazing and one big happy family propping each other up so they can move forward; not stay stagnate of move backwards. As people we can all learn how to do the right thing with family and friends. Sorry to see this show go. Im sure there could have been lot of situations to write about. Perhaps another network will come in as a white knight. I will miss them.
I agree CBS sucks lately
I agree Chad. CBS has a long time habit of doing this.
I wish TPTB had given the show another couple of seasons. Much as I liked Anna Faris’ character, I think the show’s been just as funny, if not more so, this season. I’ve “lost” a lot of shows over the past year, but I think I’ll miss this one the most.
Me too. I liked Anna Farris, but have really enjoyed seeing the growth of all the rest of the characters. Very sad the show is being canceled.
I think in this time of awareness of womens’ value in media, that when a woman driven show’s finances are a concern, they are saying they don’t want to pay them what they’re worth
.
Exactly!!!
So disappointing.
As much as I love Christy, she needed to break away and I think they did a good job covering it. There really wasn’t much more for her
That said, I was excited for time opening for the other characters. I am sad that we won’t get expanded stories for Wendy – we know almost nothing about her.
The women deserve 2 more seasons (at least) to close out properly.
I thought the other ladies were doing fine on their own also. They all seem to play off of one another pretty equally except for Wendy you’re right.
Amen
Sophie I agree 100% with you. As much as I loved Janney and Faris going at it weekly I think it’s just as funny with the remaining characters. Their timing is incredible. I would love to have two or three more years.
I agree with Sophie. The rest of the cast had a chance to develop their characters more. I enjoyed the series.
I agree. Just wait. They will replace it with some rotten written show that will be off I January or February of next year. They should be making a fortune on this show because it’s been in syndication for a few years, so I don’t know why money would be a problem. They will make the money many times over.
Forgive me, Sophie, as I sit here scrolling comments people have about “Mom” in regards to this article. What does “TPTB”, as you said, mean and/or stand for? I’m usually good and fairly decent at deciphering or knowing what an acronym means but I’ve racked my brain on yours, and I am stumped? Like, for example, if someone said “TPIR”, I know that means “The Price Is Right”. I’ll probably end-up smacking myself over this one but my brain 🧠 is having a major fart 💨 tonight, haha!
With all of that now said and off my chest, I agree. I will miss this show once new episodes/content cease to be! Ironically, it was my own Mom that got me to like the show “Mom”.
The Powers That Be
Too bad, so sad!! But then the stupid networks always pull the good shows to put on crap that never lasts anyway!! Way to go CBS for ruining a really Thursday night lineup!!!
I know right they put dumb shows that don’t even make sense!!! Then there’s nothing to watch on TV.
I agree alot of crappy reality shows. Mom is one in a million it’s so funny. I’m sad its cancelled. I hope another network picks it up.
Don’t cancel Mom!!! Best sitcom on TV!!!
Yes it is, like the golden girls makes me laugh. The other sitcoms are rather stupid 75% of the time
You are ending this show too soon. Who wouldn’t want to continue a show that has been beneficial to so many.
I hope someo e else picks tbe show up if CBS doesn’t wake up!
I agree..hope another network picks up Mom. Maybe like Fox did with last man standing…these ladies are awesome in there roles..I think at least another season is needed to wrap things up properly.
Something like this never comes at a good time. This series has had a good run and still had more opportunities for some great new shows. But as usual the good ones never seem to make it. Instead the viewers are hammered with off the wall liberal shows as our only choices.
I don’t understand your comment about “liberal” shows. What on earth is that supposed to mean?
Some 🍑 always has to blame liberals for everything or bring politics into all conversations these days. That’s all that is. Someone who is still mad they lost.
Right? Constantly bringing politics into every discussion is beyond annoying. Not to mention, “Mom” is a rather liberal show. I guess that person missed the episodes where Bonnie has a Black half brother, as well as the episodes where she had a lesbian girlfriend that she and Christy used to live with. Such scary liberals. Oh no!! *arms flailing in fear*
Eight seasons and continued good ratings is the definition of “making it.”
You do realize that most of the characters , as well as the actors, are liberal.
SO true, @GB
And there it is. Was waiting to see when the liberals were going to get blamed or some 🍑 throw in politics.
Right, because there are no conservative or republican alcoholics or drug addicts. Addiction to whatever is a human failing and the fact that this show dealt with that while being entertaining proves it’s excellence. And, by the way, if you out there who are blaming liberals for this show really think that nobody in your family or no friend of yours or no coworker of yours has an addiction problem you are deluding yourself. We all have someone, more than one usually, in our family, in our circle of friends and acquaintances. A lot of times we just don’t know it.
This is really a stupid statement. Never in the shows 8 seasons did it go political. Yet, you some how found a way to take it there. And by the way, I’m a liberal and I found it to be very funny and I am extremely disappointed that they are taking it off air.
Hey GB, Your “liberal” comment just reminded me that they should make a right wing comedy instead. A good suggestion is a sitcom about the January 6th MAGA stprming of the Capitol; this sotcpm could be patterned after Hogan’s Heroes and Mash. That show would be a stellar addition to those “liberal” shows you’re forced to watch
So sad this the end of a particularly impactful sitcom. I will miss these characters and all their struggles and successes.
You never cease to anaze me CBS. Who makes these decisions? I was a CBS All Access subscriber until now. I am done watching your network. Go Star Trek and Big Brother yourselves to death.
Young Sheldon and Colbert are about all I watch on CBS.
I too, on CBS, now have only Young Sheldon and Stephen Colbert left to watch. MOM was my favorite, and CBS, do keep in mind that Sheldon is getting older!
We are very sad that CBS is ending Mom. It was a point of light every week for us on Thursday nights. We are very upset they are ending this comedy .. It was well-acted and hilarious..it got us through the pandemic…a time we needed to laugh. Theresa and Mike O’Riley
Love love love this show and very disappointed it won’t be on anymore
So sad I live and love this show
Mom did accomplish it’s goal and did so with warmth and laughter. We’ve watched all seasons all the way through 16 times since January. We do miss Anna as the chemistry between her and Allison was amazing. Not too keen on Adam becoming so central.
I sure hope that another network or cable channel picks up similar to Roseanne Last Man Standing Brooklyn Nine Nine I don’t know the reasons behind TV Executives canceling shows that have a solid fan based following CBS cancels Mom but renews Bob❤️Abishila which is CRAP and also renews Bull after the star’s sexual misconduct charges resulting in a million dollar settlement
SHAME on CBS I will be boycotting CBS after Mom airs its final episode
And then you can take a punctuation class!
You must be a teacher maybe you can teach her!! And by the way keep it in the class!!
No, I’m not a teacher but I know how to use proper grammar and punctuation, something sadly lacking in most online comments. Here you go:
“I sure hope that another network or cable channel picks up, similar to Roseanne, Last Man Standing, and Brooklyn Nine Nine. I don’t know the reasons behind TV Executives canceling shows that have a solid fan-based following. CBS cancels Mom but renews Bob❤️Abishila, which is CRAP, and also renews Bull after the star’s sexual misconduct charges resulting in a million-dollar settlement.
“SHAME on CBS! I will be boycotting CBS after Mom airs its final episode.”
I know it can be annoying to read. But sometimes people are using voice-to-text on their devices. And depending on the device & platform, those voice-to-text features don’t always properly display the punctuation. Just something to keep in mind…
I do use voice to text, but always go back and put them in. But I’m just anal like that 😂.
I’m not sure if it was intended or not, but the quote (“) symbol is missing from the word ” SHAME “, and as the Professional Punctuationist, I thought you’d want to know! So, now you know.
Actually, I did that on purpose. The word SHAME is the beginning of a new paragraph. When you are quoting multiple paragraphs in the same quote, you put quote marks at the beginning of each paragraph. Then you put ending quotes when you are finished quoting at the end of the last paragraph.
So, now you know, too!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Good for you, for shutting that crap down.
Bring the show mom back, don’t change any of the cast members they all did great my family misses the show.
The show is ending because Anna Faris left which i was so happy about. She’s jealous of Allison Janney. Anna left because she thought the show was hers. Got sick and tired of all the pictures of her only when the show was supposed to be about her family and her. She’s can’t stand the fact that Allison got awards every year since it started!! Never watching anything w her again
I agree how funny this show stayed, after Anna left. (But I do miss her & Allison together!!
P.s. I do love Bob 💗 Abishola
I’ve been doing a rewatch of Mom while also watching the current season. I was someone who initially thought that the show wouldn’t suffer too much without Christy – I felt like the show had written her into a corner and there was nowhere for her character to grow, plus I love the other ladies. And while I’m still only in the 5th season of my rewatch, I can see how I was wrong.
The Bonnie/Christy dynamic is such a key part of the show and doing this rewatch while watching the current season is making me see that it’s really just not the same without her. I’m hoping Anna comes back for the last couple of episodes – even just the last one.
I know it was a comedy but it home with so many struggles dealing with substance abuse and real life struggles gonna miss this show thank God for reruns 😊
Agree. They found an amazing way to deal with a highly sensitive subject and made it less hidden.
The women are so NORMAL and relatable. Their issues were our issues.
I sincerely hope that someone like Netflix or Amazon Prime picks them up and they can get 2 more seaons – and a proper ending
This show could and has done so much for the programs they talk about. I will really miss them all.
Agree
Wow, this comment pretty much said exactly what I’ve been thinking. Just finished watching the last episode on Netflix. I was feeling frustrated watching Christy’s story seem to go nowhere in Season 7 before I found out that she wasn’t in Season 8. I wonder if that had anything to do with Faris’ decision to leave the show. I don’t really understand why they wrote Christy into a corner where they beat to death the joke that Christy couldn’t find a lasting relationship and yet never really gave her a chance to grow and overcome that challenge. I mean I love Allison Janney as Bonnie but I don’t understand why her storyline ended up overshadowing Christy’s in Season 7. I feel like they kind of cut her off at the knees by writing her kids out of the show, especially her daughter (except for the one episode). I think Faris must have realized that her character was going nowhere. The show is called “Mom” but they wrote Christy’s kids out of the show, then they focused more and more on Bonnie. By the last Season there was no mom left in the show. Anyway, I didn’t hate Season 8, it was funny and worth watching, but it definitely didn’t feel like the same show.
It’s true what she said. Many of us got sober along with the fabulous women. It was heartfelt, funny, well-written, just so satisfying. I really hate that Anna chose to leave. I’m sure she had her reasons, but it was the beginning of the end. I wish her success in whatever she has chosen. Thanks for the years of the wonderful show.
The show is cancelled because anna faris walked away
I’d like this show to go on forever. The writing is still sharp. All the ladies still have some story.
I think it’s completely wrong to cancel Mom now! This is the kind of tv ADULTS need! Heartfelt tv. Relatable tv. Please don’t cancel.
I can’t believe that they’re thinking of canceling “Mom.”
There are so few sitcoms that are this good. The cast is amazing, and so talented. I look forward to this show every week, and so do all of my friends. Why would this show be canceled if the ratings are OK? What a shame, and I hope that the powers that be at CBS change their minds!
What no one’s saying is that to get an actor of Allison Janney’s caliber on a TV show isn’t cheap, and they probably decided that continuing wasn’t worth the cost. (Don’t get me wrong: Ms. Janney is a treasure and worth every penny she gets, but there comes a point where the return doesn’t justify the expense.)
I feel moms show has been groundbreaking in the ability to give humor hope and entertainment while covering the daily life of recovering alcoholics . mrs janey is brilliant and while i missana faris the show was still great. I hope this group of actors can work together in another show maybe exploring another social illness. It filled a void and hats off to all
I will miss the Mom show. Watched it weekly and could not believe it was being cancelled. A good show being cancelled way too soon.
When a show loses a main character, it frequently is cancelled shortly thereafter. However, I’m betting another cable network will pick up this show.
So so sad about Mom I love that show very much best of luck to all the people that played in it and also to the ones that have left God bless you all
NO! I do not want Mom to end. It is such a good show, consistently funny. Anna Faris was always good and missed,, but not to the detriment of the show. Allison Janney and all the regulars on the show are so fantastic. Please CBS, change your mind. We need funny and heartfelt shows like this.
The real reason is not enough blacks on the show
Why on earth do you say that?
@Contrarywise – That’s just a troll. One of those people who likes to blame everything on Black people, and claim that everybody is too pc now and everybody caters to “blacks.” I’m a Black woman, and I enjoy the show. They did get rid of the 3 Black characters (Regina, Christy’s second sponsor Nora, and Bonnie’s brother – he was only on a couple of times anyway), but that has nothing to do with the show being canceled. Some people just thrive on being negative and mean-spirited.
Or Asians, Hispanics, Native Americans, Indians, Italians, Sicilians, Assyrians, Gypsies, etc. It’s a very long list. If you want to play games make sure you include everyone.
I’ve enjoyed the show through the years, but it’s probably time to end it before it hits the point where it’s a sad parody of itself (for example 2 & 1/2 Men). The show has lost its edge and is just going through the motions now.
WOWY!!!! This comment section is a blood bath!
