So many greats gone, so much promise gone. In 2020, we said final farewells to hall-of-fame talents, trailblazers and up-and-comers from college football, college basketball, the NFL, the NBA, the MLB and more. 

Some of the sports stars, like Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryantdied in the prime of their lives; others, like Tennessee's Johnny Majors, Georgetown's John Thompson and Auburn's Pat Dye, passed away decades after ending their careers.   

Some fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic; others to accidents -- and even homicide. Some were standouts from the broadcasting booth and the wrestling ring. Some were once-upon-a-time greats. And some were just getting started.
