Matilda was first commissioned and produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and premiered at The Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, England on 9 November 2010. It transferred to the Cambridge Theatre in the West End of London on 25 October 2011 and received its US premiere at the Shubert Theatre, Broadway, USA on 4 March 2013.

Who’s Who in The Cast OLIVIA DEMARCO (Mrs. Phelps) is returning to the Garden stage for her fourth show. She was most recently Mrs. Cratchit in the ghostly version of A Christmas Carol and Leslie in Billy Elliot. An Orlando native, Olivia grew up as a dancer at School of Performing Arts and Southern Ballet Theatre, later earning her B.A. in Theatre and M.B.A. in Marketing from Rollins College. Olivia was on the opening team of the Dr. Phillips Center, and is now the Senior Marketing Director at Orlando REP. She is full of joy and gratitude to be back on the stage surrounded by her tribe of show people. “We must never let the art of live theatre fade away.” She dedicates this performance to the “revolting” children in her life: Austin, Brielle, and Dean. “Love, Aunt Eeah.” YAN DIAZ (Michael Wormwood) is a graduate from AMDA NY. He is excited to be making his Garden Theatre debut! You may have seen him perform all around the Orlando area. Some favorite credits: Gomez Addams in The Addams Family (Osceola Arts), Roger in Grease (The Henegar Center), A Christmas Story (Theatre West End), Performer in the Broadway Easter Bonnet competition (Minskoff Theatre NY), Houdini in Ragtime (Axelrod Theatre NJ), Pablo in Sister Act (Osceola Arts), and Marty in A Showgirls Musical (Orlando Fringe). @YanCDiaz_ TATIANA SOPHIA ERIKSEN (Acrobat) is overjoyed to be back with Garden Theatre to tell another incredible story! She hails from Tampa Bay, FL and holds a degree in Theatre Studies with a Dance minor from Wagner College in Staten Island. In the fall before the Great Quarantine, Tatiana made her Garden Theatre debut as the Dutch psychic Helga ten Dorp in Ira Levin’s comedic thriller, Deathtrap. More recently, she’s been teaching virtual dance classes, stocking up on pumpkin-everything, as well as believing that she’s going to write the next great young adult novel or Tony Award-winning play...whichever comes first. Other credits include All Shook Up (Director/Choreographer, Wagner CSP), Since She Left Me (Playwright, New York Theatre Festival), Working (Associate Choreographer, Wagner Theatre), Funny Girl (Ensemble/Dance Capt, Hemlock Theatre), and Cabaret (Fraülein Kost/Fritzie, Wagner CSP). “Much love to Joseph Walsh for everything he has done for the Garden Theatre community!” Instagram/Twitter: @tatianasophia GRACE GUSTINO (Various Roles / U/S Children) is so excited to be doing her first professional show here at the Garden Theatre. As a kid, Grace did summer camps here and is so happy to be coming full circle. Recently, she could have been seen as Rosemary Pilkington in How to Succeed, Diana Barry in Anne of Green Gables, Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family, and Kumi in Beat Bugs the Musical Adventure. Who’s Who in The Cast RILEY HERRERA (Lavender) is a 12-year-old 7th grader from Tampa, Florida. Riley is excited to be returning to the Garden Theatre stage. She has been performing since the age of 3 starting in Chicago, IL and loves every chance she can to be on stage. She was most recently seen in A Christmas Story the Musical at Theatre West End, Billy Elliot at the Garden Theatre, and was a cast member for almost 2 years in many different roles at The Holy Land Experience in Orlando, FL. CARSON HOLLEY (Matilda) is honored to be making her Garden Theatre debut. Previous favorite roles are Scout (To Kill a Mockingbird), Flounder (The Little Mermaid), and Velda (Amish Project). Carson is also IBA Music’s youngest Latin-pop recording artist and her original music is available on all digital platforms. She has performed with LaCalle Band in Disney Springs and occasionally with the University of Florida Opera Department. JACK JESSUP (Eric) is thrilled to be making his Garden Theatre debut as Eric. This is his second time performing in Matilda (Bruce). Some of his other past credits include: A Christmas Story (Schwartz), Shrek Jr. (Lord Farquaad), Rock of Ages Middle School (Stacee Jaxx), and Peter Pan Jr. (Captain Hook). Jack would like to thank his mom, dad and sister for their continued support. He hopes you enjoy the show and be sure to stay out of the chokey!

KADESH LEWIS (Escapologist) is extremely excited to be returning to the Garden Theatre stage after appearing as the Judge in Hello, Dolly!. You may have also seen him spreading his Mama’s wisdom as Willard in Footloose or mourning his brother as Levi in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Off stage you can find Kadesh at his local theater, Theatre Winter Haven, building the sets and also as a scenic carpenter for entertainment complexes across the country. Kadesh would like to thank Joe for this amazing opportunity and can’t wait to work on this remarkable story with this amazing cast, production team, and crew!

HANNAH MCGINLEY LEMASTERS (Mrs. Wormwood) is thrilled to be back at the Garden Theatre, last seen in Xanadu as Calliope. A huge Roald Dahl fan, Hannah considers it an absolute honor to portray one of the nastiest characters of her literary childhood. “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

Who’s Who in The Cast ESMERALDA NAZARIO (Various Roles) is a diverse vocalist having trained in both opera and musical theatre. Esmeralda has performed OffBroadway at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre as Isabella in the Flying Lessons New York Musical Festival (NYMF) Premiere. She received Applause Awards for her ensemble work and individual performances in Sweeney Todd and Godspell. Esmeralda is so fortunate to have spent the last six years of her life devoted to the arts, volunteering and performing at every opportunity she is offered. JANINE PAPIN (Miss Trunchbull) is the fine arts department chair, auditorium manager, theater teacher, director, choreographer, and sponsor of the school’s thespian troupe at Trinity Prep School. Janine was one of two teachers named the “2018 Inspiring Teacher” by the Broadway League Foundation Jimmy Awards. In 2006 she was awarded The H. Benton Ellis Award for Excellence in Teaching. During the summer of 2015 she received a fellowship to study at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. It is with gratitude that she returns to one of her favorite places to be, the Garden Theatre stage. SYDNI PATRICK (Hortensia) is extremely proud to be joining the cast of Matilda. She is a vibrant, enthusiastic 7th grader, who prides herself in being an activist and advocate for herself and others. Past performances include The Greatest Showman at the Garden Theatre Summer Camp and The Little Mermaid at her middle school. Sydni is an avid foodie and budding travel guru, who loves to sing and dance. She currently resides in Winter Garden with Mom and Dad, and her doting little brother, Roman.

TYLER COLIN PRICE (Bruce) is a 7th grader at Howard Academy of Arts and is excited to be in his first production at The Garden. Tyler has been seen in previous Central Florida productions at Orlando Repertory Theatre, Theatre South Playhouse, and Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park. Tyler is also a voice over actor working most recently with Disney. He is a student at NYC’s Broadway Artists Alliance studying acting and voice. Tyler would like to thank his family, friends and amazing coach, Sarah Lee Dobbs, for their support.

OLIVIA RICHTER (Amanda) is making her Garden Theatre debut in Matilda. Olivia is in 3rd grade at Windermere Preparatory School. There, she has performed in the all-school productions of The Sound of Music (Gretl), Peter Pan (Lost Boy, Slightly Soiled), and The Little Mermaid (Flounder). Olivia would like to extend special thanks to her family, friends and amazing teachers! Their love and support always encourages her to reach for the stars!

Who’s Who in The Cast DANIEL ABELS RODRIGUEZ (Mr. Wormwood) is a recent transfer from NYC and is so excited to be a part of the Garden Theatre. He currently performs with the Dapper Dans at Walt Disney World. Originally from Fresno, CA, Daniel has performed across the country including Stageworks Fresno, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and The Goodman Theatre in Chicago. He is so happy to be living in beautiful Downtown Winter Garden with his amazing wife, Taylor, and their dog, Felix. Much thanks to Joe and the entire Garden team. Make The Difference. JACQUELYN SALISBURY (Alice / U/S Matilda) is grateful to make her debut on the Garden Theatre stage. She is a Winter Garden resident and sixth-grader with FLVS. Her professional journey began with an 18-month run as a principal actor at The Holy Land Experience in various stage shows. She studied as an acting major at Broadway Artist Alliance in NYC. In her spare time she enjoys playing piano, dancing, and doing professional voice over work. Jacquelyn would like to thank her family, friends, and Mr. Joe, Sarah Lee Dobbs, and Elaine Pechacek for believing in her. PARKER SIMS-CHIN (Tommy) is an eighth-grader at Howard Middle School. This is his fourth show at the Garden Theatre. Most recently he played Flick in A Christmas Story. Parker has performed at many theaters across Central Florida over the last several years. His favorite roles include: Nigel in Matilda, Aerialist in Children of Eden, Teacher in Singin’ in the Rain Jr., Linus in A Charlie Brown Christmas, Chip in Beauty and the Beast, and Michael Banks in Mary Poppins. He wishes to thank his dance instructor, Joyce Lemos, his friends, and his family for their support! JACOB BRENDEN STEELE (Nigel) is a sixth-grade student at Howard MS Academy of Arts. He is thrilled to be a part of the Matilda cast and to take part in his first Garden Theatre production. He previously played Kurt (The Sound of Music), Winthrop Paroo (The Music Man), Burt (Mary Poppins Jr.), Prince Eric (Little Mermaid Jr.), and Daddy Warbucks (Annie Jr.). He is so grateful to Mr. Walsh for the opportunity to be in one of his favorite musicals. LILLIE ELIZA THOMAS (Miss Honey) is excited to be back on Garden Theatre’s stage! Lillie holds a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Central Florida, but has studied music her entire life. Some previous acting credits include: Hello, Dolly! Who’s Who in The Production Team JOSEPH C. WALSH (Director) is an award-winning theatre director and educator who is thrilled to be a member of the Garden Theatre team. Most recently he served as the Artistic Director of Arlington Children’s Theatre in Arlington, MA and Wild Oats Productions in the UK. He was the Interim Director of Education at the White Plains Performing Arts Center where he also directed Ghost (starring Natalie Weiss and Steven Grant Douglas) and West Side Story. Joseph directed critically-acclaimed productions of Hairspray and Singin’ in the Rain for the Cork Opera House in Ireland. In 2013 Joseph collaborated with West End star Linzi Hateley to devise and direct Linzi Hateley: True Colors - Life Since Carrie at Saint James Theatre in London and 54 Below in New York, as well as the London revival of Love Story: The Musical, which was nominated for an OffWest End Award for Best Musical. Joseph directed the Off-Broadway premiere of Sonder at The Player’s Theatre and in London’s West End he served as Assistant Director on Coyote on a Fence and Resident Director on When Harry Met Sally (starring Molly Ringwald and Michael Landes). Joseph spent three seasons as the Touring Director for White Horse Theatre, the world’s largest touring educational theatre company, where his work was seen across Europe and Japan. TERRY E. THOMAS (Music Director) is honored to be a part of Matilda! With a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Indiana State University, Terry has performed and served as a teacher (teachers, we LOVE you!) throughout the United States, Germany, and the Middle East. Theaters where he’s been a musical director include the Ice House Theatre, Theatre Winter Haven, Riverside Theater in Vero Beach, the Orlando Civic Theater, Orlando REP, the Department of Defense, the British and American Community Theater in Kuwait, Clock Tower Dinner Theater in Rockford, IL, the Orlando Gay Chorus, and high schools in Indiana, Florida, and Kuwait. Terry recently appeared as Rudolf in the Garden Theatre’s production of Hello, Dolly! and has also performed as..... well, a lot of different people. He would like to thank Joe Walsh and the cast, crew, and staff of Matilda for this wonderful Christmas present! LINDSEY D. SMITH (Choreographer) graduated from the University of Utah with her B.F.A. in Modern Dance and spent five seasons kicking as a Radio City Rockette. Lindsey has choreographed for many corporate clients including Disney, Walmart, and Sherwin Williams. Theatrical choreography credits include: Hello, Dolly! (Garden Theatre), Tuck Everlasting (Orlando REP), and A Year with Frog and Toad (Orlando REP). At Disney, Lindsey choreographs and teaches for Disney Performing Arts, choreographs special events for DEG, and has been seen performing in Beauty and the Beast and Hocus Pocus. Who’s Who in The Production Team Shakespeare Theatre. He was recently one of the designers for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology’s USA Student Exhibit for the 2015 cycle of the Prague Quadrennial - the international theatre design conference in the Czech Republic. Joe received his Masters of Fine Arts in Scenic Design at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ALYX JACOBS (Lighting Designer) is an Orlando-based lighting designer whose work encompasses theater, television, theme parks, corporate and live events. His work has been seen in many theaters across Florida including Garden Theatre, Orlando Repertory Theatre, Orlando Shakes, Theater at St. Lukes, Miami Stage Company, and many more. Recent Garden Theatre credits include Gypsy and Annie. Alyx’s television credits include live broadcasts for ESPN, HBO, CBS Sports, PBS, BounceTV, USA Network, Univision, WWE Network, and Twitch TV, among others. His recent television credits include Top Rank Boxing on ESPN, Super Smash Bros. World Championship, The Overwatch World Cup, Heroes of the Storm Global Championships, and Solo Boxeo UniMäs. Alyx has been the lighting director for live music artists including Kings of Leon, Macklemore, Train, Lindsey Stirling, and others. His work can also be seen in newly opened attractions at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park as well as Christmas at Gaylord Palms. ERYN BROOKS BREWER (Costume Designer) is the resident costume designer at the Ocala Civic Theatre. She earned her M.F.A. in Costume Design and Technology at The University of Alabama. Eryn absolutely LOVES working at the Garden Theatre! Her previous credits here include Ben Hur and Ugly Lies the Bone. Thank you to all of the staff at The Garden. Lots of love to her husband, Brett, and their dog, Wallace. ANTHONY NARCISO (Sound Designer) is a Sound Designer and Composer based out of Orlando, FL. Anthony routinely designs for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Garden Theatre, Theatre at St. Luke’s, Auburn University, and Orlando REP as their seasonal designer. He previously served as sound designer for the Texas Shakespeare Festival from 2013-2018. Recent credits include Vote? and Pete the Cat at Orlando REP; Children of Eden and Mary Poppins at St Luke’s; Hello, Dolly! and Ugly Lies the Bone at Garden Theatre; and Bring it On the Musical at Auburn University. Anthony is a proud member of United Scenic Artists. ERMA SANDORA (Hair Stylist) For 55 years, Erma has been a Cosmetologist in the industry as a hairdresser, salon owner, and teacher. She has worked at Walt Disney World as a Hair and Makeup Specialist and as a trainer and Coordinator of Cosmetology for 27 years. She is also the Hair and Makeup Designer for Orlando Opera and Wig Designer for Garden Theatre. ZEKE WATERS (Properties Master) is excited to be working on his second show as Props Master with the Garden Theatre! Zeke holds a B.F.A. in Production Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has worked as a designer in theater, film, television, and theme parks; but he always cherishes the opportunity to return to his roots in live production! Zeke has designed with Walt Disney Imagineering, Universal Creative, and HBO.

Who’s Who in The Production Team ALESHA HOLLATZ (Scenic Design Assistant) is excited to return to The Garden for Matilda! Previously she was Assistant Scenic Designer for Ragtime, The Legend of Georgia McBride, and Gypsy. She was also Props Master for Ugly Lies the Bone, Ben Hur, and Billy Elliot. Alesha graduated with her B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology and B.A. in Arts Management from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in May 2018. She moved from Wisconsin to Orlando after accepting a position with Universal Creative developing live entertainment attractions. BEN LOWE (Assistant Lighting Designer) is currently studying in the B.F.A. Design and Technology program at UCF, focusing on lighting and projection design! He previously worked on The Lieutenant of Inishmore with the Garden Theatre. ADAM GRAHAM (Dialect Coach) is very happy to be back at the Garden after last joining the team as Edgar in Ben Hur. He has worked throughout England and Florida, and can be found each week minding a magical train, or building lightsabers in a galaxy far far away. He would like to thank you for supporting local theatre during these difficult times! MANDY LONGO (ASL Coach) is a speech-language pathologist who studied at Gallaudet University, the only University for the Deaf, located in Washington DC. She specializes in working with families who have children who are Deaf or hard of hearing. She started Signing Shadows (@ signing_shadows) ten years ago to develop programs so that young, Deaf children could attend the theater - something that all children should be able to do. These theater programs include sign language interpreting, family gatherings, ASL vocabulary lessons, theater accessibility, and much more. Mandy is excited to be working with the Garden Theatre again, and is especially excited for Matilda! For this production, Mandy worked with the cast, crew, and her ASL interpreters, to bring ASL right into the show! CHRISTINE KINDRED (Stage Manager) After this unpredictable year, Christine is grateful to be back in the theatre!! Christine was the Stage Manager for Garden Theatre’s first self-produced show - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - and has been returning every year since. Other highlights include Singin’ in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, Boeing Boeing, Into the Woods, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Billy Elliot. Thanks to her family (Christopher, Meghann, Elanor, and Samuel) for all of their support. “Love you!!” VICTORIA WILLIAMS (Child Wrangler) is so grateful to be back at the Garden! She is pulling double-duty here this fall, serving as the Child Wrangler for both this main-stage production of Matilda and the youth production of Matilda Jr. That’s a lot of revolting children! Her favorite recent credits include Steel Magnolias (Costume and Wig Assistant/Dresser) and Mary Poppins (Child Guardian) at Theater at St. Luke’s. Rebecca Roper Proscenium Arch There is a physical space in the theatre that serves as a bridge between the audience and the actors. It is called a proscenium arch - a gateway and connector. The proscenium of the Garden is named in honor of our Founding Board President’s 15 years of volunteer service, leadership and a passion for the arts that changed a community.

Tickets are available online at gardentheatre.org or by calling 407-877-GRDN (4736) Due to the nature of live performance, events, performers, dates, and times are subject to change. Seating policy – All late seating will be at the discretion of the House Manager and cannot be guaranteed. Please arrive early. House Rules – Any photography, audio, or video recording of this performance is strictly prohibited. House management reserves the right to remove disruptive guests. No outside food or drink; no concessions will be offered at this performance. Accessibility – Kindly arrange any special needs, including wheelchair accessible seating, with the Box Office staff. House management will provide assisted listening devices and large print playbills upon request. Returns and Exchanges – There are no refunds on tickets to Garden Theatre events. All sales are final. There is a $5 exchange fee on ticket orders. Ticket exchanges must be made at least 24 hours prior to the performance. No credit will be given. Subscribers are exempt from this fee. Restrooms – Restrooms are located on the second floor via the grand staircase through the double doors near concessions. The lobby restroom is meant for those guests with difficulty accessing the second floor.

Credits include: Matilda Jr. (SM, Garden Theatre), Hello, Dolly! (ASM, Garden Theatre), Violet (ASM, Garden Theatre), A Christmas Carol (SM, Garden Theatre), Steel Magnolias (ASM, St. Luke’s), Pete the Cat (Run Crew, Orlando REP), Pride & Prejudice (SM, Mad Cow), Mary Poppins (ASM, St. Luke’s), and Children of Eden (ASM, St. Luke’s). DAVID CLENNEY (Master Electrician) has been a part of the Garden since La Cage aux Folles, and is working on his 30th show with the company. As a native of Orlando he has thoroughly enjoyed participating in the growth of the theatre community in the area. David attended Seminole State and the University of Central Florida. He would like to thank his family, friends, and you for your support of the arts. JUSTIN HARMON (Assistant Carpenter) graduated from Valencia College’s Entertainment Design & Technology program in 2018. Justin also freelances around Orlando working many shows at multiple venues and music festivals. In his free time, Justin enjoys bowling and playing video games. THOMAS RIVERA (Assistant Carpenter) is grateful to be assisting on another Garden Theatre production. In his spare time, he practices being an independent artist. @whatsthe.wav “Thanks for seeing the show!” ISABELLA CELLUCCI (Scenic Artist) is an Orlando-based Scenic Artist for theater and television. Her work can be seen at many theaters throughout Florida including the Orlando Repertory Theatre and Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Recent theatrical scenic charge credits include A Christmas Carol, How I Became a Pirate, and Miracle in Bedford Falls. Isabella has also worked as a scenic artist for the Paramount Network television show Ink Master: Grudge Match. She holds a degree in Production Design from Valencia College. CHEYENNE DALTON (Audio Engineer (A1)) is an audio engineer based out of Orlando, Florida with a penchant for children’s theatre, rock musicals, and anything fast-paced. Throughout her decade of mixing, her favorite shows have been Assassins, A Year with Frog and Toad, Chicago, and The Full Monty. This is her second production with the Garden Theatre, following Hello, Dolly!. GABRIELA GUTIERREZ (Costume Run Crew Chief) is excited to return to the Garden for their second production! Previous dresser credits include Hello, Dolly! at the Garden this season and Pete the Cat at Orlando REP! Gabs also works full time in Entertainment Costuming at Universal Orlando Resort. They’re currently attending Valencia College for Entertainment Production Design. GAVIN SALISBURY (Spot Operator) is thankful for this opportunity to intern for this amazing production. He first fell in love with all roles backstage while a member of West Orange High School’s Thespian Troupe 1983 working on Curtains. In his spare time he enjoys music and playing electric guitar.

Who’s Who in The Production Team HANNAH WARNTJES (Spot Operator) is beyond thrilled to be working with Garden Theatre for the first time. She graduated in 2019 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a theatre performance degree and psychology minor. “Huge thank you to my new husband, Michael, for your endless support and the nudge to follow my passion.”

Author / Owner Bios Dennis Kelly: Work for theatre includes Debris, Osama the Hero, After the End, Love and Money, Taking Care of Baby, DNA, Orphans, The Gods Weep, and The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas. He has written the book for the new musical of Pinocchio which opens at the National Theatre at the end of 2017, and in 2018 his new play Girls and Boys opens at the Royal Court. His plays have been performed worldwide and to date have been translated into nearly forty languages. For television he co-wrote and co-created Pulling and wrote and created Utopia, and for film he wrote the screenplay for Black Sea, directed by Kevin MacDonald. He also wrote the book for the Olivier and Tony winning Matilda the Musical. In 2010 DNA became a set text on the GCSE English Literature syllabus. Tim Minchin: Tim is a musician, actor, comedian, writer and director. He’s toured extensively in the US, UK and Australia, performing solo, with bands, and with symphony orchestras. He’s released five DVDs, the most recent recorded with the Heritage Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. Screen acting credits include Robin Hood Origins (2018), Secret River (2015), and Californication (Season 6 - 2013). Stage acting credits include Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Sydney Theatre Company) and Jesus Christ Superstar (UK/Australia tours). Tim has written extensively for theatre, and is the composer-lyricist of Matilda the Musical (with Dennis Kelly) and Groundhog Day the Musical (with Danny Rubin). Roald Dahl: Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and many more of the world’s best-loved children’s stories. He remains one of the world’s greatest storytellers and is celebrated annually by the world’s biggest author-based event, Roald Dahl Day – which is recognised across the globe on 13th September. His first children’s story, James and the Giant Peach, published in 1961 and was a huge hit. Every subsequent book became a best-seller. Today, his stories are available in 59 languages and, by a conservative estimate, he has sold more than 250 million books.
