Our menu is a homage to our region Calabria and southern Italian roots reflecting what is being served in Italy today. Our first visit to Civico. We live Virginia Beach and we were excited to find an Italian Restaurant with a separate Vegan Menu. The service was outstanding and Gio was extremely pleasant. The food was exceptional.

not the best experience. location is great but the fun stops there. bruschetta was tasteless, seafood pasta was too salty and the chicken was a bit dry. it was also very loud. i wouldn’t go back. sorry. 😟

Great authentic restaurant in almost every respect. Although the beautiful rustic interior looks great, the noise level is a real nuisance. No thought seems to have been given to the acoustics. loud noises and chit and chatter can be heard bouncing all around the bare, untreated surfaces.

I had high expectations, and I wasn't disappointed. We dined outside on a busy evening but felt like we had a personalized and curated dining experience. I chose this place because my family is from Calabria; I'm glad we tried it. I'd go back.

Wow. The food was terrible to say the least. Everything was extremely salty for some reason. The best dish was my daughter’s kids pasta. Felt like a tourist trap 2/10

As tourists in San Deigo, we knew wanted to explore Little Italy and get a great Italian meal there. We decided from reviews and other recommendations that Civico 1845 was our choice. All three of us sister's had wonderful food and exceptional service. Lucca, our server, was just wonderful! His explanations on the different types of pasta's to thoroughly describing the entrees was great! Lucca thank you from my sisters and myself for an amazing experience! Came to celebrate a birthday dinner had reservations and they seated us early. Had outdoor seating was perfect weather, had a server approach us fairly quickly to get our order in. All entrees ordered were hot and tasted delicious. Lasagna is a must, and the focaccia bread my son at his weights worth in it. Drinks and service was all quick and attentive.

Food was incredibly salty. It wasn’t worth the price and noodle seemed dry and stale. I expected more from this place.

Absolutely a wonderful dinner. Food outstanding. Service warm and prompt. Loved the family atmosphere. No music which I loved. Busy street outside with foot traffic fun to watch families walking by. A definite must when you are in San Diego.

I have visited the San Diego area many times, but I have never eaten at Cívico. I am happy to report that the dinner experience was sublime. The food was wonderful and delicious and the service was fantastic. I will return again in the near future.

Food was fresh and delicious! All four of us loved each item we ordered. Gluten free pasta was nicely done with the porcini mushroom & sausage. The bread and pesto brought to the table was another highlight. I eat gluten free but can tolerate a little flour if it comes from Italy. Bread is made entirely of Italian flour. Luca, our server was exceptional. Friendly, attentive to our needs and also to wiping up little drops & spills on the table which communicates care as well. Heaters outdoors were very warm. Great experience!

We were seated outside and it was a little smaller than I expected. Also, it was super easy to have pan handlers approach us while eating and that wasn’t cool. I did love the fact that there was a $15 valet service directly across the street, at Blick. Loved their complimentary warm foccacia and pesto dipping sauce - divine! I can’t remember the names of the drinks we ordered but we had one with vodka, one with tequila, and another with gin. They had another drink on there that had a cabarnet float on top and was very much alcohol-forward, which my friend had, and she loved it!! I had the short rib papardelle (amazing!), another had the seafood linguine, and my other friend had their vegan eggplant Parmesan with a side of pasta and that had to be my favorite of the night - the eggplant was charred perfectly then made into that absolutely perfect dish 🫶🏼. Sitting outside, talking, people-watching, we got carried away with time and could’ve sat there longer had we not had drink reservations elsewhere. Overall would recommend!! Gave it a 4-star just because of the size of a 4-top table, was pretty squished and served kept spilling the drinks on the table when she’d set it down - oh and the panhandlers while dining outside. But other than that, everything else was great!

It was a bit difficult holding a conversation because of the loudness. The Bread was delicious was the basil sauce it came with. The pasta was good. There wasn't a lot of direction on what to get. It would be great if they had some regional Italian specials.

Overall a very good experience. We went for the vegan menu for my wife and it did not disappoint. The bread and pesto were vegan and it was extremely good. The main was good, just lacked some “cheese” which would have elevated it. As for my meal, it was above average for a good Italian restaurant. They have a lot of competition in little Italy, so take that with a grain of salt. Overall, I would recommend for any vegan. It is fairly priced for what you get and the atmosphere makes it a great night out or lunch.

Made reservations for my wife's birthday and we were extremely pleased with all aspects of our dining experience. Started with Gio talking us through our options. Made excellent wine and food picks for all four of us. Could not have been any better. Amazing food surrounded by the great vibe of Little Italy in downtown San Diego. Highly Recommend!!

Got our steaks complete wrong, ordered medium rare and came out well done. Waiter showed up once and never came back to check on us. Out of water and never asked about more than once glass of wine. Last time I’ll be here. Was disappointed last time too but thought I’d give it another chance.

Vegan menu was fantastic. Service a bit lacking. We would have ordered more drinks and dessert had our server been around. Also felt like we were being rushed out with back to back appetizer and entree.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our birthdays, which went unnoticed. We also ordered a standard bottle of Prosecco Rose that is listed on the menu and were charged more for something similar. The food was outstanding the service was not.

My wife went here because the 5th Ave location closed and we enjoyed their food. This time it was completely off. We ordered the octopus appetizer, which was good, but they brought out our pastas literally 5 minutes after. We barely had a couple of bites. That’s not enough time from appetizer to main dish. We started eating the pastas and the pasta was soft. It’s soft!!! You guys are an Italian restaurant and it’s soft. And my wife said the meatballs were just whatever’s. Everything was so rushed which killed the ambience. Oh well. At least now we know.

Our appetizer and dinners were excellent. Highly recommend the ravioli - maybe the best tasting either of us has ever had. Really enjoyed the restaurant overall - a fun place, reasonable prices, and a very attentive and pleasant staff.

We recently ate at six restaurants while we were in San Diego and they were all good . However, this dining experience ranked at the top for many reasons. The service, menu selections, food, and the vibe were all five stars. The lasagna was maybe the best I’ve ever had and it was evident that everything was made from scratch. Our waiter was perfect and the price was appropriate. We will be back! Keep up the great work!!

Overall, a very solid restaurant. Worth checking out if you live in the greater San Diego area. The food was delicious, though a little on the heavier side. Service was not noteworthy, though not an issue at all either. I would go back just for their complimentary focaccia bread and pesto. I would recommend to a friend, but not dying to go back right this second.

Since I'm Italian, my expectations are high and my disappointments are also high… overcooked, too much cheese and not really fresh ingredients except for the salad. The service was wonderful and the restaurant is really nice… overall it's not that bad, maybe you'll like it.
