The Old Town (Staré Město in Czech) or Prague 1, is the home of the most important attractions in the city, making it a great area for first-timers.

In the Old Town Square, you can find one of the most famous city landmarks, the Old Town Hall, with its iconic Astronomical Clock.

Or, you can take a leisurely stroll along the Charles Bridge, how does that sound? Pro tip: if you are staying in the area, I recommend waking up early – you will have the bridge all for yourself, it is truly magical!

This enchanting district, with its winding cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, will transport you back in time.

The Old Town is a great option to stay in Prague in the winter, and it’s so beautiful at Christmas! The main Christmas Markets are in the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.

Malá Strana, commonly known as Lesser Town (or Little Quarter in English), is one of the prettiest areas in the city!

I stayed here during my visit and absolutely loved it! Its biggest advantages were having iconic attractions nearby and being within walking distance to the Castle District. And the Old Town right after crossing the Bridge.

Malá Strana was set in the 1200s and it is filled with baroque buildings, beautiful parks, and cobblestone streets.

In this district, you can visit the stunning Petrin Gardens, which is huge! This park is ideal for spending an afternoon surrounded by beautiful greenery and enjoying a picnic with the family.

Right behind Petrin Gardens, you can find the medieval Strahov Monastery, with its historical library filled with antiques and beautiful frescoes.

The Castle District, Hradčany, is one of the other most beautiful areas in the city

This historic area sits on a hill and is home to Prague Castle, one of the world’s biggest castles. You can walk through old courtyards, see the stunning St. Vitus Cathedral, and enjoy fantastic views of Prague from the castle.

The Old Town is only a 30-minute walk away or you can take a train to reach it faster.

Did you know that Prague Castle is one of the largest castle complexes in the world?

The absolute main attraction in the area is Prague Castle and its complex. Here you can see St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace , and the Golden Lane.

FUN FACT: Golden Lane acquired its name because of the goldsmiths living in the tiny houses. Later on, Franz Kafka actually lived in one of those houses!

This is the district where young professionals live, and a great spot for a fun night out! A great chance to experience real local nightlife!

One of the main attractions of the area are the State Opera and the historical Vyšehrad Fortress (built back in the X century). I highly recommend a stroll around the fortress grounds to take in the beauty!

If you want to feel like a local, visit Riegrovy Sady. This city park has the most beautiful views and cool beer gardens in it!

This district is super popular amongst students, and most of them live there. Also, this area is known to be a good place for a stag do!

But the area is not all about partying; you also have historical landmarks. For example, the Television Tower (you can climb it to see the view!). And on Parukářka, a city park, you can find a nuclear bunker from the Cold War, which you can visit.

Karlín is the city’s up-and-coming neighborhood! It became a cultural hub in the last few years. It is filled with cute restaurants, hip bars, and art galleries!

This district, located just east of the city center, offers a mix of modernity and charm. Karlín is also known for its green spaces, such as Karlínské Square and Kaizlovy Sady Park, where you can relax and enjoy some outdoor time.

Kasárna Karlín is an amazing cultural center, and during the summer, they offer outdoor movie screenings! Galerie Kooperativy is a free art gallery that exhibits private collections.

Many buildings in the area had to be demolished in 2002 after the city flooded! After that, it emerged as a trendy zone and became the most wanted area by locals!
