Subreddit for the Wonka movie starring Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Colman & Rowan Atkinson. A prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory focusing on the early exploits of Willy Wonka - the future proprietor of said chocolate factory - who explored the world and beyond looking for exotic treats for his latest creations.
Was wonkas last sovereign that he dropped in the sewer the same one that Charlie found to buy the chocolate bar with the golden ticket?
Was it?
No because of the years difference and it’s a completely separate place as well.
Based on proximity of where the chocolate factory is, and where scrubits house is, I think it’s definitely the same one
We really need a map of the area to get a good idea tbh the cuts in the film could be at later points of time so the distance of how long it takes to get to each place could be a bit deceiving
I really want to talk to the writer now to see if it is lol
If there’s one thing for sure its that if it is the same coin it makes the story so much more magical and awesome than if it wasn’t
It could be.
I mean the way the camera focuses in on the coin falling in leads me to believe they want you to see the coin AND the sewer. It looks exactly like where Charlie finds it. I would’ve never thought about it if the camera didn’t do that
It makes the scene so much more meaningful, and the story that much more magical which if it is
no bro
It's just an easter egg.
a chocolate Easter egg🤭
no
That would be extremely unlikely, considering the number of years.
It would be super cool if it was the same sovereign

To me it’s seems obvious that it is the same one. Why else would they include that scene and really focus on where it falls ?
I doubt it
It would be so cool if it was though
