Southwest Arts Center
Southwest Arts Center (SWAC) opened in June of 2001. This is the first facility of its kind located in the City of South Fulton built for the sole purpose of delivering arts to the community. Operated by the Department of Cultural Affairs, our goal is to produce and present quality arts education, cultural activities, and events to all citizens in a welcoming and safe environment.
We work with instructors that are professional industry artists and other arts organizations who assist us in reaching this goal. We are charged with providing a positive arts experience which is accomplished through meticulous planning and implementation. The SWAC staff provides our citizens with the best artistic and cultural adventures imaginable.
In 2009 the Performance Theater opened to sold out audiences with the first performance of Miss Evers’ Boys presented by True Colors Theatre Company. The Performance Theater has since become a mecca for artistic excellence with quality programming in dance, music and theatre. The Performance Theater houses our Fine Art Gallery which hosts twelve outstanding exhibitions per year.
We offer three class sessions, Fall, Winter, and Spring per year. The sessions consist of eight weeks of visual arts, technology, textiles, dance, theatre, music, literary arts classes. Classes are designed for toddlers, youth, teens, adults and seniors with varying skill levels. These sessions culminate with a recital.
We also provide a Summer Youth Arts Camp, ages 5-12 and a Summer Teen Arts Intensive ages 13-18.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS
At Southwest Arts Center professional artists are our foundation. We encourage you to inquire about potential partnerships, rehearsal/studio space, submit class/event proposals and performance opportunities.
