For us as a couple this hotel was perfect for a night, we are usually busy during the day so we only need a place to sleep on a night. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were welcoming and polite. On arrival you are given a set of keys for the front door and one for your room this is because the door is self locking on a night. The rooms were a reasonable size just the bathroom was a little small. We didn’t have the breakfast so I can’t make a comment on that but it is only 5.99 extra for the morning. I’d recommend this hotel for a short stay in Blackpool. About a 4/5 min walk to coral island and about 10 to the tower. It is placed well next to the tower too. With COVID 19 they don’t come to your room during the day which is understandable. There is an iron available on request at the reception. There is also tea and coffee in the room. It’s not on the sea front but it’s not far away from it. Definitely will stay again!

When we arrived it was quite quiet, had to wait a few minutes till we found someone to check us in.

Had a few drinks in the bar when we was in the hotel and had a bit of of banter with the barman. Drinks were ok in there just soleless as no entertainment was on, couldn't fault them for the amount of bright lights though. I was very disgruntled from the gambling machines as it took £20 from me! Further annoyed the barman did not warn me, after he said it has been doing that a lot recently after i put it in! So i had to wait for the machine company to come out, which for the entire stay never happened.

Went out to Fleetwood for the day as Blackpool was quiet. The only time we ventured out was to the local pub called the Ruskin further down. It was the only place open in the area. Food was amazing as was the entertainment and even had working gambling machines!

Hotel in general was very no thrills as was the room. They did have all the basic amenities and we slept well apart from the odd honking of cars going past in the early hours. There was two young gentlemen serenading each other on both ends of the road singing "Boom boom boom, i cant find my room" which made us chuckle with laughter.

Food was ok even though we eventually favoured paying for full meals at the pub down the road instead. Slept eventually too. Everything was ok apart from the £20 i never got back!

In all politeness it is just a stereotypical Blackpool hotel with dated everything, just needs modernisation.

Check in was quick and easy.

Parking a nightmare.

Left my damp towel to be changed as there was no way to dry it, and it stayed there so no room service.

The bed was as comfortable as sleeping in my car, but at least my car did not make a loud crunchy sound ;)

The wall were a bit thin and I could hear conversation, and sadly, at 3am, you can guess...
Internet was non existant, so top tips are:

Take a bath towel, the one given is small and a women needs two, one for her hair and one for her body...

Take a fan heater, as it did get a bit cold, even in July

Take earplugs, to get some sleep

A Plug extension socket with USB's.

I streamed internet off my phone so I could use my ipad.

I took a bottle of milk and cereal in a tupperare tub to save the £5.99 and I wanted to lessen spending time with people due to covid etc.

All in all, I have stayed in worse.

This reflected the price paid.

It's sad but hotel fails its customers price wise its a good deal No Breakfast or any type of meal A Bar that as no beer just pop when it's not locked so guest have only reseption to wait in Front door constantly locked and no One on reseption. Rooms small but clean my room shower did not work. Bed was very soft and comfortable overall good value compared to other hotels but needs a established manager in to get it back to being a hotel for customers. Hotel needs to put its customers first and supply English breakfast be more Customer friendly and have someone on reseption 24/7.

We paid £28 for one night so weren’t expecting the Ritz, just needed a bed to sleep in after seeing the illuminations. However, the walls are so thin you can hear other guests talking (not being rowdy or shouting, just talking) and every so often there was a loud noise that we couldn’t determine but assumed it was related to other guests flushing their toilets and the smell of cigarette smoke was overpowering even though our window was wide open on arrival. The smell didn’t decrease and in fact got worse through the night particularly in the bathroom. It was so overpowering we were up and out by about 7.45am but the smell stuck to our clothes and belongings after we left.

As if that wasn’t enough, we were charged £15 for allegedly not leaving our key. When we arrived the man on reception told us we either had to leave £20 deposit or our card details in case we damaged the room. We didn’t have any cash but agreed to leave card details. He went over the top telling us it was hotel rules not his rules then suddenly changed his mind and said we looked trustworthy so he didn’t need our details but again went over the top saying he trusted us and asked us not to let him down. He asked for a phone number so I wrote down our house number but he insisted I leave a mobile number in case they needed to get back in touch after we’d left the room. I asked if we needed to see anyone to check out but was pointed to a hole in the reception desk and again the man went overboard showing us how to drop the keys in the hole. As we went up to our room we commented to each other on how suspicious it all seemed. I wish we’d taken a photo of the room and a video of us leaving the keys as lo and behold about 3 hours after we left we got a call saying the keys couldn’t be found and the charge had been made.

If we didn’t leave any card details for the purpose of a deposit, how is the hotel allowed to make such a charge? They have subsequently said they will refund the money but no sign of it yet. If a refund is not received I will be raising this with my bank as an unauthorised payment. Even if the refund is received, the hassle all this has caused is just not worth the cheap price.

I have looked at the good and not so good reviews on here and I have to tell you my experience has been nothing but positive.
Yes the hotel is like 90 % of hotel in blackpool not as modern as hotels like your Hilton or big blue in Blackpool or Travelodge but you are also not paying those over inflated prices. And so much better than another nearby large hotel .
Lovely comfy large lounge area From walking into the reception I could see how clean and tidy it is kept. The lady on reception was very pleasant I think her name was Sahara and she was very helpful. Sanitising station in reception.
Our room was clean with tea and coffee and kettle.
Nothing was to much trouble if you asked. If you want more towels just ask. I saw them stripping rooms as guests left and giving them a good clean.

No there isn’t a bar in the hotel (soft drinks and snacks only) but it clearly says that on booking .Com and you are also told that when checking in. If you want to drink they let you fetch your own alcohol in. For me been disabled the lift was a god send.
The breakfast is just amazing and sorry if I get your names wrong but Cheema and Florentina were very welcoming . They only put little little amounts of the breakfast out at a time to ensure its always fresh. Ask for scrambled egg (the best I have ever tasted)

So all in all my experience was very positive and I would definitely stay again.

Partner and I booked 4nights at the beginning of September after a change of plans. Less than £150 for 4 nights, result we thought.

I cannot repeat enough, DO NOT STAY HERE!

You cannot park anywhere near the hotel.. and the closest car park is nearly £10 per day. Daylight robbery.

Filthy mouldy bathroom with holes in the wall and a loo that doesn’t flush. The water pressure is so poor it took me 25minutes to get my hair wet.. I’d have got a better wash if I’d stood in the rain.

Whole hotel was extremely dated and looks like it had borrowed its decoration from The Shining's ‘Overlook Hotel’

Walls so thin you can hear every other room moving and people will be partying til 5/6am. If that doesn’t get you, the karaoke bar across the road will, I heard every word until about 1am.

The actual bed was clean and comfortable, despite the fact they were unable to find a duvet cover to actually fit the duvet. So that came off after an hour in bed. The windowsills and curtains were vile and dusty.

No bacon or pork products at breakfast as this is a halal hotel. Whilst I respect people’s religious beliefs I believe people should be made aware of this as a lot of people (myself included) do not agree with halal practices. Oh and no alcohol for the same reason.

They did have a good choice of continental breakfast though..

In short, don’t stay here. We didn’t even last our 4 nights and bailed out early on the 3rd morning..

Our first stay at the Oak Lea Hotel on 20th - 24th March 2023 , has been the nicest accommodation we have stayed in with Caledonian Travel.
We asked for a first floor twin room.we got room 5.facing the back yard.
Which was perfect as we don't like traffic noise.
The family run Hotel is on Albert road , ideally situated for the Tower, Winter Gardens, North Pier. and Shopping Centre.
There was home cooked food , a good choice and good portion size.
There are 2 bars. One open at night with good entertainment. Basement level,
A bar at ground level with TV, pool table and Dart Board.
There is a 2 person lift to all floors. and a ramp for wheelchair access.
The staff are really pleasant and helpful.
We will definitely return to this hotel.

The hotel is ideally situated for central Blackpool.
Generally speaking I got what I paid for, cheap & cheerful.
The single rooms are very small, that is ok but the shower / toilet was bordering on being so small it was considered by me to be quite dangerous.
The space between the step over ledge for the shower is very close to the toilet unit.
I found it impossible to sit on the loo in a conventional way. I tried stretching my legs into the shower and lowering myself onto the toilet seat.
On doing this it was very difficult to get back onto my feet and did actually slip , luckily avoiding and injury
I finally gave up and found it easier to sit sideways on the toilet with my legs out in the room.
The breakfasts and evening meals were generally good
I did suffer from noise at night from rooms adjacent and above.
The walls between rooms and those above are very well sound proofed.
Even someone speaking or a TV playing could be heard clearly.
This resulted in broken , interrupted sleep.
I will concede that it was a budget holiday but I would say the toilet / shower were my biggest issue.

Stayed for one night in a family room one double bed one single. Furniture was very dated could do with updating, staff were very friendly didn't have breakfast I think for the standard of the hotel 7.99 for breakfast to expensive when it's 5 pound down the Rd. Had a few issues toilet wasn't working the flush.
