CLEVELAND (WJW) – Northeast Ohio will be the center of the astronomical universe as we experience the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Now, it’s time to prepare!

To be able to actually see the total solar eclipse, it is important to wear the proper eyewear to protect your eyes. There are several places to get your solar eclipse glasses locally, check out the list we provided:  

Cleveland Metroparks

Cleveland Metroparks is offering TSE solar eclipse glasses that are safe for direct solar viewing for $2 each. 

“Our custom Cleveland Metroparks eclipse glasses will keep your eyes protected during viewing,” the Cleveland Metroparks website says.

For those who want to celebrate Cleveland on Eclipse Day, Destination Cleveland suggests these eclipse glasses manufactured by Rainbow Symphony. The Eclipse Over Cleveland glasses show the city’s skyline, along with details on when you should and should not take off your glasses.

The glasses are available to order in different-sized packs.

NASA Glenn Research Center

NASA’s Glenn Research Center’s Exchange Shop now has eclipse glasses for sale for only $2.50. The Exchange Shop is also selling other eclipse-related merchandise as well. Check it out, here.

Orange Village Police Department

The Orange Village administration is providing up to three pairs of eclipse glasses for free to each household, while supplies last.

Residents can pick up their glasses at the Orange Village Police Department, 4600 Lander Road Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Warby Parker

Warby Parker is giving away free, ISO-certified solar eclipse glasses at all stores starting on April 1 while supplies last. Click here for more information.

EverythingBranded

EverythingBRanded is having an eclipse glasses giveaway now through March 20. Those who apply can receive up to 100 CE-certified glasses for free. Anyone can apply, but special consideration will be given to organizations and educational groups such as schools, libraries and civic centers.

Sonic Drive-in

Sonic Drive-In is offering a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses to anyone who purchases the new Blackout Slush Float, while supplies last. The new float will be available starting on March 25.

Staples

Staples stores have solar eclipse viewing glasses available for purchase while supplies last, ahead of the big event on April 8.

Verizon

Three Northeast Ohio locations are giving away free, certified protective eclipse glasses April 5-7. Those locations include:

  • Westlake Verizon store at 2207 Crocker Rd.
  • Rocky River Verizon store at 3460 Westgate Mall
  • North Olmstead Verizon store at 26200 Brookpark Rd.
