Examining the Best Over/Under 2019 Win Totals in College Football - Athlon Sports Skip to main content

I've given you my thoughts regarding the win totals on every college football team across the country and now I'm going to hone in on my absolute favorite ones. There will be two categories with one being best value (aka best plus prices) and the other being the ones I love the most despite their price. The key is that there are several options out there so make sure to shop around when it comes to finding the best price.

2019 Win Totals by Conference: AAC I ACC I Big 12 I Big Ten I CUSA I MAC I MW I Pac-12 I SEC I Sun Belt

Best Values

North Carolina Tar Heels Under (Westgate Under 5.5 +110, Bovada Under 5 -130, FanDuel Under 4.5 +120)

I think there's a good chance this team starts the season 0-5 entering a winnable game at Georgia Tech on Oct. 5. UNC hosts Miami, Clemson and Appalachian State in its first five games and let me tell you that the Mountaineers from the Sun Belt are very capable of going into Chapel Hill and winning. I don't love the Mack Brown hire and outside of FCS opponent Mercer in November, there's not a ton of easy games on this slate. Obviously I like the Westgate's under the most, but I think the FanDuel one is just as viable even at a plus price.

Michigan Under (Westgate Under 10.5 +150, FanDuel Under 9.5 +150, Bovada Under 10 EVEN)

The Wolverines should be very good this year, but their past history against rivals means taking the under at plus money especially at Bovada and the Westgate. Michigan hosts Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State all at home, but while those should be victories there no guarantees in that group. The Wolverines also have tough road trips to Wisconsin and Penn State to contend with. I could be wrong here, but at plus prices, I'll take a shot that John Harbaugh falls on his face again in big games.

Hawaii Over (Westgate over 5.5 EVEN, FanDuel over 5.5 -115, Bovada over 5.5 -130)

I think this is a rather cheap price for the Rainbow Warriors who have a fully healthy Cole McDonald at quarterback and also get the extra game for us to go over the total. They get eight home games and could split one of those first two against Pac-12 competition (Arizona, Oregon State). The defense won't be that bad and I think this is a rather low number.

Most Sure to be Right

Temple Over (FanDuel over 6.5 -150, Bovada over 6.5 -130)

I'm not quite sure what to make of the Rod Carey hire, but there's plenty of talent on this roster. The Owls could start out 5-0 before taking on Memphis at home on Oct. 12. After that game, they still have three more winnable games against SMU, Tulane and UConn. I really like the weapons on offense with Anthony Russo under center and the defense consistently churns out talent. Give me the over here as I could see them winning eight or nine games.

Western Kentucky Over (FanDuel over 5 -114, Bovada over 5 -125)

If the Hilltoppers pick the right quarterback, then I think their offense could be very good. They've got a ton of returning starters on both sides of the ball. WKU could beat Louisville and has quite a few winnable games at home. They need to get those wins early though because November could be rough.

Bowling Green Under (FanDuel under 3 -108, Bovada under 3 +120)

The hire of Scot Loeffler was not a good one. He was a mediocre to poor offensive coordinator almost everywhere he's been. Jarret Doege transferred to West Virginia and outside of FCS opponent Morgan State in week one, I don't think the Falcons will be favored again. Bowling Green feels like a two-win team.

Honorable Mention

South Florida Over (Bovada over 6.5 -105, FanDuel over 6.5 -120)

I'm a fan of the Bulls who have seven home games. They've got a shot to knock off Wisconsin in their opener and have winnable road games at East Carolina and UConn.

Kansas State Over (Westgate over 5.5 -150, FanDuel over 5.5 EVEN, Bovada over Over 5.5 +110)

It's a new era for the Wildcats under Chris Klieman, who brings over a winning pedigree from FCS dynasty North Dakota State. He inherits plenty of returning starters and a schedule with seven home games. I think this team could get seven wins potentially.

Liberty Over (Bovada over 5.5 -145, FanDuel over 5.5 -140)

The Flames are playing an independent schedule and have a ton of winnable games. Stephen "Buckshot" Calvert is under center and Antonio Gandy-Golden is out wide. They've got five of their first seven at home before finishing out with four of their final five on the road. I think this one is an over.
