Introduce your class to a new text type with the help of this Film Review Template for students.
This movie review template features sections for students to write the title of the movie, the director's name, and what their favourite part of the film was. There is also space for them to draw their favourite scene from the film, and, perhaps most importantly, a five-star diagram similar to what is used for professional movie reviews, where students can colour in the number of stars they wish to give the film out of five.
Ideal for giving your students their first exposure to film reviews as a type of text, this movie review template is ready for you to download and print straight away.
If you and your students find this movie review template useful for their studies, you may also wish to take a look at some of the other resources we have available for teaching students about this text type.
Our Text Types Guide Book or Film Review Display Poster, for instance, allows students to remind themselves about the key features of film and book reviews at a glance.
Our Film Viewing Notes Writing Template, on the other hand, is a handy resource for students to have on hand as they watch a movie, so they can take the notes they will need to create a good film review.
A movie review, or a film review, is an opinionated recount of a movie written by somebody who has recently seen it.
Most movie reviews will be a combination of persuasive and informative, in that they will inform readers about key features of the movie (such as its title, its director, the main actors, and a brief synopsis of the plot) while also offering the writer's opinions of different features of the movie (such as the directing, the editing, the special effects and the acting).
Most film reviews will have a rating, which is denoted by a diagram of five stars. The more of these stars that are filled in, the better the film reviewer considers the movie to be.
