Restaurants in Berlin for Christmas Eve & Day

Hi there

My wife and I will be visiting Berlin over Christmas and are looking for suggestions for restaurants which will be open on Christmas Eve and Day. We will be staying centrally (Mitte) so we are hoping to find somewhere not too far away. Ideally I would love to find somewhere serving traditional German food, but open to other cuisines also. Oh and we have a 6 month old child so we need somewhere child friendly.

With a baby in tow I wouldn't recommend one of the top range restaurant. Better go for what we call "gutbürgerlich".

You will have to check with them if they are open and book(!!!) a table.

German-style restaurants are unlikely to be open on Christmas Eve - there is no tradition of eating out that day, the average German spends Christmas Eve at home or with close relatives or maybe very good friends, but not in a restaurant.

Contact Berlin tourist office and enquire if they have a list of restaurants which are open on Christmas Eve: http://www.visitberlin.de/en
