Hi, I am looking for recommendations on Restaurants that will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Berlin. Many thanks
Eastern or western center of city?
Price level?
Edited: 5 years agoHotel restaurants are open on December 24th and very few others. Best is to locate restaurants in your neighbourhood, wherever that might be, and check their websites to see if they say they're serving on December 24th. Default position is closed.
Some restaurants, especially those serving tourists, do re-open on December 25th, which is a bit less of a big-deal holiday.
Western near Tiergarden.
I don't think you will have much of a problem on the 25th because more and more Germans eat out that day instead of having mum slave over a hot stove, so quite a few restaurants will be open - but you will need to prebook.
The 24th is going to be the hard one as Germans don't eat out on Christmas Eve and everybody wants to be at home with their family - so with the exception of hotel restaurants most places will be shut.
I ate at this place one Christmas Eve http://www.marysol-berlin.de/en/home-gb/ Other times I have been to Ganymed but that means traveling across to Friedrichstrasse You will need to book for both
On Christmas Eve it depends if you want to have a festive Christmas related meal or just something good to eat.
In the first case you will find some restaurants (stand-alone and also in hotels) around Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzien which will be open but you need to make reservations because they will be filled up - already. You can ask restaurants in Hotel Steigenberger or restaurant Le Faubourg at Sofitel. They offer also brunches which are popular on Chirstmas days.
An alternative for just a good dinner - not Christmas related - is Egyptian restaurant Marooush in Knesebeckstrasse. You will find also other good restraurants with Lebanese or other Arabic-mediteranian kitchen.
On Christmas days you will find more places in the mentioned area. An option on these days is also restaurant Giraffe in Tiergarten - they serve special Christmas menu. Always an intersting alternative is restaurant Paris-Moskau but look at menu first.
