POTUS and FGOTUS 4eva!
Madam Secretary‘s Tim Daly took time on Thursday to reflect on the CBS drama’s final episode, which finished filming this week. The Season 6/series finale likely will air later this year.
“HUMANS!!!,” he posted on social media, “What did I get from Madam Secretary? EVERYTHING!!! That’s a wrap.” The caption accompanied a photo of Daly, aka First Gentleman of the United States Henry McCord, hugging his on- and off-screen partner Téa Leoni as members of the show’s cast (including on-screen daughter Wallis Currie-Wood) and crew applaud.
Though Leoni and Daly knew each other prior to the show’s start — they attended the same high school in Vermont — they began dating during in real life during the series’ first season.

Back in Season 1, Daly told TVLine that Henry was a “great role model for men” because he wasn’t threatened by Elizabeth’s achievements. “Here’s a guy who’s got his own thing going, and he’s completely supportive and unintimidated by his wife being in a position of power,” he said at the time. “I think the fact that he’s unintimidated by a woman in power is a great message for men: Guys, it’s OK. Your girlfriend or your wife can be big, and you can still be confident. You don’t have to worry.”
I’m wondering how similar th actors are to their characters
I didn’t know that Daly and Leone were together – that explains the chemistry!
This has been one of my all-time top ten favorite shows. I will miss it tremendously.
ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU!
Me neither, and me too. I think they did a fantastic job “humanizing” the politics.
Ditto. Their chemistry is off the charts!
I’m with you. Even more so now: Relationship goals! OMG, they are so cute together!!! On another note, (agreeing with you again) I am REALLY going to miss this show!!!!
Mine, too!!!
I had hoped they would end Madame Secretary and start a new show, “Madame President”!!! Boo Hoo!
One of the main themes about the show was how Elizabeth would “think outside the box” and normally with less violent, military or intrusive actions. She portrayed a true diplomat, something sorely missing in politics recently!
I believe all of us will, it was such a good so I hate to see it end
Great run! I really like this show. Looking forward to remaining episodes.
Had no clue they are together in real life (and since season one?!). I think it’s bowing out at right time. Very much enjoyed the series.
“The Season 6/Series Finale of Madam Secretary will air later this year.”
It should be noted that in the announcement of CBS’s midseason schedule, there was no mention of the exact airdate for Madam Secretary‘s final episode. How stupid are they for a mistake like this? I am guessing they’ll probably schedule it on the week of an NFL DoubleHeader (The only ones scheduled on CBS for December are the 1st (when the ninth episode of the season will air), the 8th, and the 29th).
I read earlier that the season has only ten episodes. I would expect the last episode will be on one of those dates the other two wil be reruns. Typical of Christmas time.
And… it’s confirmed for the 8th. First heard it on an article announcing guest stars for the MS finale at TV Insider.
I just love this show, i will be sorry to see it go. The writing has always been wonderful and smart. Never missed an episode.
This was such a great show… the cast was phenomenal and Tim and Tea’s chemistry was so incredible to watch… if there was ever a marriage from TV that i’d want to emulate it would be that one!! Congrats on a great run, I wish it would have been longer.
Absolutely agree! I think that every time I watch this show. Sad that it’s ending.
I’ve enjoyed Madame Secretary since the first episode of the first season. How I hate to see it end. I can only hope the same writers will come up with another series for Daly and Leoni to act in.
This show was one in a million,
Boo hoo.
Have too agree!! The best drama series ever!!!!÷
Truly an excellent show. An example of how we’d like our government to act and think. I hope those in power get the message! I really wonder how it is ending. There are so many more important topics to address.
Wish it weren’t ending just quite yet. It was so different from most of what’s out there and so well written and acted from start to finish. I could have watched it forever but a full season would have been nice for starters, so they wouldn’t have had to put so much into only 10 episodes. This show will be missed tremendously!
We were SO happy to learn early on, that Tea Leoni and Tim Daly are a couple in real life. They have such wonderful chemistry on Madam Secretary!!! We will miss this show deeply, as we understand why the decision was made not to continue it. Thank you all for 6 AWESOME seasons!!
Chalk me up as another who didn’t realize that Téa and Tim had gone to the same high school (seriously?!), but also that they’ve been dating since S1. Personally, I think it’s fantastic; I really enjoy the characters of Henry and Elizabeth, and their comfortableness radiates through the screen.
Absolutely agree with Tim about Henry, yeah; he’s totally comfortable in his own skin, on equal footing with Elizabeth at home, and it doesn’t faze him in the slightest that Elizabeth wields more power than he does at work.
One of the few series I will truly miss when it ends.
Yes, they went to the same school, but not at the same time…Tim is 10 years older.😂
i didn’t know they were a couple either and that does explain the chemistry for sure. I’m going to miss this show because it both shows a loving couple doesn’t have to be boring (as network execs will tell again and again) and that it harkens back to the old days when there are some good morals in politics, well in some politicians anyway. I’ll miss them. I wish more people had watched it, but so be it. Thanks to cast, crew and execs.
I REALLY like this show and am going to miss it! Have always liked how Tim Daly’s character has been supportive of his wife and not been threatened by her success/power. More men should follow his example!!!
I love Henry and Elizabeth. Their marriage is the best part of the show.
The McCord’s as a couple was one thing I loved and appreciated about the show. It is always an easy route to take a great couple, threaten their relationship and split them up. The fact these two stayed together and continued to supported one another throughout the series is refreshing to see on television.
Awww I didn’t know they were a rl couple. They have great on-screen chemistry.
I forgot to add, I will miss this show!
This show is the BEST! I love their chemistry. I am really sad that it is ending.
It is so real.No fake stuff. I loved Tea in all of the movies she was in and I loved Tim
in all of the series he played in. Private Practice, Chicago Hope and others
WHY does CBS do this to such a great and real life show.
They delete MSec. The best feel good show that has ever been broadcast.
I just hope they can return to tv once again as a couple.
I knew they were a couple & it added more chemistry. They are an awesome couple & Tea/ Elizabeth is a great role model. I have watched every episode of all seasons. Will miss them!
The series showed how a woman can be strong, while being a wife and mother. I will miss the series.
Too bad that CBS did not consider Madam Secretary for CBS ALL Access.
why did the 2 younger children leave the show this season
Son Jason is away at college and was in last nights episode. Staying true to his character, embodying his rebellious persona and attitude, causing upset to say the least. So good!
Adore this show! Our current politicians should be taking notes on how to manage govt. Great writers. Wonder what their background is?
Great shows end. I’ll watch more ACORN. SO SAD. Loved the show but always bumped back by NFL.
Will miss series.
I enjoyed Madam Secretary very much. Sorry to see that it is over.
I love love LOVE Madam Secretary! Been watching it since the beginning and was so happy to hear Tim and Tea were or are a couple in real life! They are so great together! I will miss the show terribly and just want to say my husband and I have watched every single episode (much of it in a semi truck on the road) and loved every show! We will miss it for sure😓
