Hi there,

I'm thinking about leaving from Seville for Granada in the morning, and visiting the Alhambra palace in the afternoon, then staying in Granada overnight. Roughly, am I being too optimistic? is this going to be a rushed trip? If it's okay, should I choose 2pm or 3pm for the Nasrid?

Seems that there's 8am-11am bus or 7am-10am train. I will go from the bus/train station to my hotel (i'll book something near the city center or the palace) to drop off the luggage first and then get to the palace. Does this sounds like a good plan?

I'm leaning toward the bus option since I'm not a morning person and 7am is a bit early for me, also the bus is a bit cheaper. But would it be easier getting to the city center/palace from the train than the bus station? or it's about the same?

Also would you recommend that I go straight to the palace and leave my luggage in the lockers, instead of making a midway stop to my hotel? has anyone tried? (they seem to have it, according the palace's website)

"Am I being too optimistic?" - yes. Alhambra tickets sell out weeks in advance. A limited number are sold at the ticket office on the day itself, but you need to be there before 8am to get those.

thanks for the reply.

My post should have started with: I'm planning for a spain trip around September/October, and I sampled a few days in September, so getting the ticket is not a concern. My ask is more about the travel time and whether I will feel rushed on the trip and/or touring the palace

The ALSA Supra Economy bus leaving at 10 am is comfortable. You could stay within easy walk of the Plaza de Armas bus terminal on west side of old city. That arrives 1pm at Granada bus terminal and you could take buses to the centre then a micro bus up to the main entrance for the Alhambra. Or just get to the centre by taxi. You can pick up ticket at the Alhambra book store downtown near Plaza Nueva if you wish instead of going to the top main entrance. A 3 pm Nasrid would suit. Allow time when you arrive and getting ticket to check in at hotel and walk up and enter through Justice Gate.

I think you have the afternoon to enjoy the Alhambra.

Cadiz Lover,

So I guess what you are saying is it's doable to leave Seville in the morning and still visit the Alhambra the same day? I guess the 8:00 bus would give them plenty of time to do that and allow for unscheduled delays, whether at the bus, hotel, etc?

The Plaza De Armas station is where the bus leaves for Córdoba should one want to leave the next morning also?
