Vince-Dooley-Charley Trippi Logos

UGA football will honor former head coach Vince Dooley and running back Charley Trippi with on-field logos at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium.

Dooley passed away at the age of 90 last Friday. He is Georgia’s winningest football coach with 201 victories, six SEC titles, and the 1980 national championship during his 25 years as the head coach of the Bulldogs.

Charley Trippi passed away on October 19, 2022 at the age of 100. Trippi, who also played other positions during his career, was part of the 1942 national championship team and led the Bulldogs to a Rose Bowl victory the following season. In 1946, he won the Maxwell Award as the nation’s most outstanding college football player, was named the SEC player of the year, and earned unanimous first-team All-America recognition.

The Georgia Bulldogs will honor Dooley with his initials “VD” and his signature on the sideline. Trippi will also be honored with a logo featuring his retired jersey number, No. 62, and his signature, also on the sideline.
