Porter Airlines has launched its new route between Vancouver and Montreal, which will begin as a daily service. The route is Porter's first connection between Montreal and Western Canada and will be operated by its modern Embraer E195-E2 fleet.

Porter inaugurates Vancouver-Montreal

The airline completed its first flight between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Thursday. The daily service will pick up the slack left by the departure of ultra-low-cost carrier Lynx Air, which folded in February, and the absence of Flair Airlines, which ceased services during the winter before resuming this May.

Kevin Jackson, President of Porter Airlines, said,

"Our presence in Montréal is continuing to grow directly through new Porter service and with our strategic airline partnerships. Our first western route from Montréal will take Porter’s elevated economy service to even more passengers across Canada and the globe."

The full schedule is as follows:

As announced in February, Porter will establish three new E195-E2 crew bases to support its growth, which will include Montreal and Vancouver. The route will also offer connections to Eastern Canada for travelers coming from Vancouver, including flights to Toronto-Pearson or Toronto Billy Bishop and Halifax. Additionally, Porter's codeshare agreement with Air Transat allows customers to connect to transatlantic destinations like London, Malaga and Paris with ease.

Terry Chou, Manager of Air Service Development at Vancouver International Airport, added,

"We congratulate Porter Airlines on the start of its new daily non-stop service between Montréal and Vancouver just in time for the spring travel season and Montréal’s renowned International Jazz Festival."

The onboard experience

Porter's state-of-the-art E195-E2s can seat 132 passengers in economy, with the 2-2 configuration ensuring no passengers have to put up with the dreaded middle seat. Onboard amenities include free WiFi access for all passengers, along with complimentary snacks and beverages.
