Each one of the members of the family has a different idea of what to do with the money. Ruth is motivated by her family her wish for them is to have what they want especially mama and helping her family but the money situation stands In her way. This is shown by Ruth getting her family up and ready for work and school and doing all the cleaning in the apartment.
