It's corn, he can tell you all about it. (The MAiZE at the Pumpkin Patch)
School is starting, apples are ripening, and the days are getting ever-so-slightly shorter, but it's technically still summer until September 22. That means you have almost the whole month to soak up those precious last golden hours of the season at outdoor festivals, ease into fall with exciting performances and book releases, and, if the seasonal transition doesn't affect you, just enjoy Portland's ceaseless array of happenings. As we do every month, we've compiled the biggest events you need to know about in every genre, from Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival to the 69th Annual Portland Greek Festival, from The Shins to ODESZA, and from the Portland Dragon Boat Festival to Rose City Comic Con.

Although
Oregon’s statewide mask mandate has been lifted, venues may have their own health guidelines in place. We advise directly checking the specific protocols for an event before heading out.

COMEDY

Jackie Kashian Past Event List
Dry, geeky Portland fave Jackie Kashian stays busy, appearing on 2 Dope Queens, hosting two podcasts, and even voice acting on an episode of Bob's Burgers. She'll make time to drop by Portland, hopefully with more insight on the rapture.
Siren Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Sept 16-17)

Jim Jeffries: The Moist Tour
Past Event List "Respected" Sydney comic Jim Jefferies will bring his provocative (aka misogynist) act to Portland, likely leaving behind what The Guardian described as "a nasty stench." Have fun!
Keller Auditorium, Downtown (Sat Sept 24)

Joe Pera Past Event List
If you haven't heard of America's sweetheart Joe Pera, well, set aside two minutes and 40 seconds to watch the most soothing clip of all time. Pera's calm, helpful, and slightly grandfatherly schtick makes his HBO series Joe Pera Talks With You our favorite sleepytime show. Settle in for more discussion of tomatoes and pancake breakfasts for this performance—you might actually feel a glimmer of hope by the end.
Revolution Hall, Buckman (Sat Sept 10)

Minority Retort presents Quincy Johnson II
Past Event List LA-based comic Quincy Johnson II will pop by Portland, hopefully with more interpretations of fairy tales. Laugh lovers Ian Durias, Anchor Soong, and Vanessa Dawn will join Mateen for the show presented by Minority Retort, Portland's leading stand-up comedy showcase for Black and brown comedians.
Siren Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Thurs Sept 8)

Wanda Sykes
Past Event List Comedy longtimer Wanda Sykes really needs no introduction—she earned an Emmy for her writing on The Chris Rock Show all the way back in 1999, and has been an unstoppable force of sharp-witted, loud-mouthed laughs ever since. She's also an LGBT rights activist—we hope to hear more about her family life in between the cutting cynicism for this performance.
Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, South Park Blocks (Sat Sept 10)

FALL

Chapman Swift Watch Past Event List
Every September, thousands of Portlanders flock to Chapman Elementary School to witness the phenomenon of Vaux's swifts funneling into the school's chimney to roost. Arrive early to snag a prime birding spot, settle in, and enjoy the early fall evening while you wait for the sun to descend. Close to sunset, the birds begin their sky show before tucking in for the night. Plus, Portland Audubon will be on hand most nights of the week with info about the swifts.
Chapman Elementary School, Northwest Portland (Sept 1-30)

The MAiZE at the Pumpkin Patch Past Event List
Have a corntastic day navigating immaculately cut pathways through corn stalks at Portland's eight-acre corn maze. This year's theme is "Cinnamon and Sugar"—warm up with the "easy" section of the maze before tackling the more challenging section, and don't forget your boots!
The Pumpkin Patch, Sauvie Island (Sept 3-Oct 31)

Mount Angel Oktoberfest Past Event List
For four days out of the year, the town of Mount Angel essentially transforms itself into Little Germany, full of lederhosen, tuba music, sausages, and an absolutely astounding amount of beer of all kinds and varieties, to be drank out of all sorts of steins, mugs, cups and boots. Plus there's other attractions, including wiener dog races, a car show, races, dancing, live music, and much more.
Mount Angel (Sept 15-18)

Spirit of Halloweentown Past Event List
You'll find it impossible not to get into the spooky spirit at St. Helens' annual tribute to Halloween. Leaning into the fact that the movies Halloweentown and Twilight were partially filmed there (Halloweentown cast members, plus Ashley Greene and Peter Facinelli of Twilight fame, will make appearances this year), the city transforms into a themed attraction complete with a giant pumpkin, circus performers, a haunted house, and more.
St. Helens (Sept 17-Oct 31)

FESTIVALS

El Grito
Past Event List Head to El Grito for folkloric and Aztec dance performances, mariachi and salsa tunes, traditional food offerings from Latinx businesses, educational booths, health screenings, and more. The holiday is important to Oregon's Hispanic community, held each year in commemoration of Mexico's independence from Spain.
Rose Quarter Commons, Lloyd District (Sept 15-16)

Oregon State Fair 2022
Past Event List Save room for corn dogs and funnel cake this month—the Oregon State Fair will return with performances by TLC, Nelly, Shaggy, and more, plus livestock displays and horse shows, classic carnival rides, tasty treat competitions, and all the quintessentially American fried foods your heart desires.
Oregon State Fairgrounds, Salem (Sept 1-5)

69th Annual Portland Greek Festival
Past Event List Opa! Celebrate all things Greek culture at the largest Greek festival on the west coast—it often draws crowds of 15,000 or more. Head to the agora for imported merch, flokati rugs, cookbooks, and more, and don't miss the mouth-watering cooking demonstrations, traditional Greek tunes, and Hellenic dancers in cultural costumes.
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Kerns (Sept 30-Oct 2)

Serbian Fest Portland
Past Event List Serbian hospitality will be on full display as you learn about the culture and customs of the Balkan country at this annual festival. Traditional Serbian food, including roast pig and lamb, will be served alongside beer and wine. Plus, watch (or join in on!) traditional kolo dancing and singing and partake in other fun activities.
St. Stephen Serbian Orthodox Church, Historic Milwaukie (Sept 17-18)

Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival 2022 Past Event List
Deemed “the best contemporary summer festival in the country” by The New York Times, PICA's Time-Based Art Festival is your yearly reminder to question everything. Buckle in for ten days of experimental art, temporal performances, and interactive lectures from local and far-flung artists who'll challenge your preconceived notions of art. (There are always some pretty cool dance parties, too.) This year, the festival will introduce new Night School programming, modeled after alternative education methods and late-night learning and led by artist-educators Pepper Pepper, Zach Blas, Nana Adusei-Poku, and Kite.
PICA, Eliot (Sept 8-18)

FILM

DOC-O-RAMA
Past Event List PAM/CUT will screen five bold documentaries this month, centering stories of radical change told through personal growth, social justice, and more. DOC-O-RAMA kicks off with Workhorse Queen, which follows drag diva Mrs. Kasha Davis on her journey from Scranton telemarketer to RuPaul's Drag Race season seven star. We're stoked for Moonage Daydream, a neon-tinged Bowie doc, and Wildness, which spotlights an LA gay bar's connection to the Latinx immigrant community.
Whitsell Auditorium, South Park Blocks (Sept 16-30)

Kevin Smith, Clerks III: The Convenience Tour Past Event List
Ready to take another trip to the View Askewniverse that Kevin Smith first created way back in 1994? Well, here's another Clerks, if that's still your thing! The Convenience Tour will feature a screening of the upcoming flick Clerks III and a Q&A with the indie auteur himself; true mallrats can score VIP tickets with extra perks like a signed screenplay and photo op with Smith.
Elsinore Theater, Salem (Tues Sept 27)

Our Bodies, Our Doctors Screening and Q&A
Past Event List Just in time for the SCOTUS overturn of Roe v. Wade, Portland documentarian Jan Haaken's Our Bodies Our Doctors fights abortion stigma with a close look at the process from doctors' viewpoints. The film might not be for the squeamish—it describes procedures in clear language, no sugarcoating here—but one in three women in the US have had an abortion, so it offers valuable information. Listen up, and stick around after the screening for a panel discussion with Haaken, Portland abortion rights activist Sierra Romesburg, and featured providers Dr. Andrea Chiviarini and Judith Arcana.
Hollywood Theatre, Hollywood District (Sat Sept 10)

Three Thousand Years of Longing
Past Event List George Miller takes a break from desert dystopia in Three Thousand Years of Longing, which stars Tilda Swinton as—what else—a stylish academic, and Idris Elba as a djinn who grants her three wishes in exchange for his freedom from a cramped bottle. As you might have guessed, things get fantastical and utterly complicated. If the premise sounds a little chintzy, just remember, this is the guy who somehow directed both Mad Max and Happy Feet—maximalism is his middle name, so at the very least, this'll be a visual magic carpet ride.
Hollywood Theatre, Hollywood District (Sept 1-8)

FOOD & DRINK

Beaverton Restaurant Week Past Event List
Try menu items created exclusively for Beaverton Restaurant Week at an array of restaurants across Beaverton, including 1st Street Pocha, Afuri Izakaya, Ex Novo Brewing, Hapa Pizza, Top Burmese Bistro Royale, and more.
Various locations, Beaverton (Sept 22-Oct 2)

2022 Community Farm Festival Past Event List
Practice land stewardship and mingle with like-minded community members at this day-long celebration at Zenger Farms. You'll get to participate in family-friendly activities, and Zenger Farms will provide snacks, a farm-fresh lunch prepared by community chefs, and goodie bags.
Zenger Farm, Southeast Portland (Sat Sept 10)

Farm to Plate Brewer’s Series Dinners Past Event List
It doesn't get much fresher than eating a meal on the very farm where the ingredients were grown. Topaz Farm's resident "farm-to-plate" chefs Christian and Janelle Ephrem will craft three multi-course, farm-to-plate dinners this summer, each featuring five specially selected beer pairings from a different local brewer: Fort George Brewing, Migration Brewing, and Foreland Beer. Topaz Farm, Sauvie Island (Sept 11-24)

ilani Wine & Food Fest Past Event List
This food and drink festival will feature a roster of big-name chefs, including Travel Channel star Andrew Zimmern and famed Food Network chef Rocco DiSpirito, as well as Maneet Chauhan, Antonia Lofaso, Kardea Brown, Lamar Moore, Christian Petroni, Aaron May, Tracey Bloom, Tregaye Fraser, Monti Carlo, Deanna Colon, Chris Scott, and Tyler Anderson. ilani Casino Resort, Ridgefield (Sept 15-18)

Oregon Angel Food 2022 Grand Finale & Marketplace Past Event List
Local food and beverage innovators will pitch their ideas á la Shark Tank to investors on a main stage for a shot at being selected for angel investment. Plus, craft food and beverage entrepreneurs will sling their wares at a marketplace. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Oregon Entrepreneurs Network.
The Redd on Salmon, Buckman (Sat Sept 17)

Oysters & Bottomless Champagne Social Past Event List

The Civic Taproom & Bottleshop, Goose Hollow (Fri Sept 9)

PDX Fresh Hops Festival Past Event List
It's the most wonderful time of the year for beer lovers: fresh hop season! Fresh hop beers are made from hops processed no more than 24 hours after being harvested, resulting in brews with a milder, more botanical profile and less bitterness. This festival in its 18th year will feature over 30 fresh hop creations from brewers across Oregon, plus live music and more festivities.
Oaks Amusement Park, Sellwood (Sept 30-Oct 1)

Widmer Brothers' 18th Annual Oktoberfest Past Event List
For a free, all-ages Oktoberfest option, check out this party from Widmer Brothers Brewing, which will offer special beers, food vendors, live music, dancing, and even special guest appearances from llamas and alpacas.
Widmer Brothers Brewing, North Portland (Sat Sept 24)

GEEK

OMSI After Dark: BrewFest Past Event List
Curious about the science behind those Oregon-made beers you love so much? OMSI's After Dark event will include science demos, food and drink vendors, trivia, DJ tunes, planetarium shows, and, of course, plenty of beer-drinking.
OMSI, Central Eastside (Fri Sept 16)

Potterless Podcast and The Newest Olympian
Past Event List Mike Schubert is a grown-ass man making his way through the Harry Potter series for the first time, and we're invited along for the broomstick ride on Potterless, his comedy podcast that's garnered a few fans (think 75 million downloads since it started in 2016). Expect extra fun for the live show—in the past, Schubert has woven in interactive games like "Wizard on Bachelor in Paradise" and Q&A sessions. The nostalgia doesn't end there, though. Schubert will also host a live session of his other podcast, The Newest Olympian, on the same night, where he digs into the Percy Jackson book series. (If wizards aren't your thing, maybe Greek mythology does the trick?)
Holocene, Buckman (Sun Sept 25)

Rose City Comic Con 2022 Past Event List
Scope out the cosplay talent and try to stay cool in the presence of LeVar Burton—it's Rose City Comic Con, where nerds gather to celebrate the comics, characters, and creators that make their community great.
Oregon Convention Center, Lloyd District (Sept 9-11)

LIVE MUSIC

Alice Glass: Trauma Bond Tour Past Event List
As the former frontwoman of electronic duo Crystal Castles, Alice Glass left an everlasting impact on pop music with her fierce live performances and dark lyricism. Glass continues this trajectory on her recently released debut solo album, Prey//IV, which Pitchfork described as "a dark, extreme pop record about abuse, power, and regaining control," mirroring abuse that she endured at the hands of ex-bandmate Ethan Kath.
Star Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Fri Sept 9)

Alice In Chains with Breaking Benjamin and Bush Past Event List
PNW grunge heroes Alice in Chains will tear it up like it's 1987 with William DuVall (formerly of Awareness Void of Chaos) filling in for the late great Layne Staley. We’ll wager that classics like "Would?" and "Man in the Box" make it into the setlist alongside tracks from their 2018 album, Rainier Fog. Post-grunge rockers Breaking Benjamin and Bush will support.
RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, Ridgefield (Fri Sept 2)

An Evening with Peter Hook & The Light Past Event List
Back in 2019, Stranger music critic Dave Segal wrote: "Peter Hook is going to milk his legendary legacy with Joy Division and New Order for as long as he wants, and nobody can stop him—not even former bandmates Bernard Sumner, Gillian Gilbert, and Stephen Morris, who are not thrilled with their former bassist’s activities. Nevertheless, with his son Jack Bates on bass, Hook has made a solid living re-creating, in the flesh and in their entirety, albums by Joy Division and New Order. Warning: Hook's singing makes Sumner's sounds like Ian Curtis'." On this tour, the band is spotlighting the beloved Joy Division albums Unknown Pleasures and Closer albums along with an opening set of New Order tunes.
Crystal Ballroom, West End (Mon Sept 12)

Arlo Parks: Collapsed in Sunbeams Tour
Past Event List With noted inspirations ranging from Radiohead to Joni Mitchell, British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks crafts emotionally stirring indie pop songs with relatable lyrics such as "read him Sylvia Plath, I thought that that was our thing, you know I like you like that, I hate that son of a bitch." Crystal Ballroom, West End (Mon Sept 26)

Aladdin Theater, Brooklyn (Mon Sept 26)

The Avalanches
Past Event List Australian electronic group and sample masters The Avalanches will make their long-awaited return to Portland with tracks off of their acclaimed 2020 album We Will Always Love You. The band is known for their electric live shows, so hydrate well and lace up your dancing shoes.
Roseland Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Thurs Sept 29)

Ben Platt: The Reverie Tour Past Event List
Okay, okay, we realize that you might know the twenty-eight-year-old stage/screen actor Ben Platt for his portrayal of a teenager in the 2021 film Dear Evan Hansen, which was widely made fun of on Twitter. But Platt is also a Grammy-winning recording artist with two studio albums of unexpectedly interesting electro-pop. He will support his latest release, Reverie, which utilizes '80s-inspired production for emotionally raw ballads about queer love.
Moda Center, Lloyd District (Sun Sept 4)

The Big Gig: Sammy Hagar and The Circle Past Event List
Hard rock icon Sammy Hagar has nearly five decades worth of classic material under his studded belt and he's not afraid to use them. Alongside his backing band The Circle, which includes Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bohnam) and Michael Anthony (founding bassist of Van Halen), the supergroup will perform classics like "I Can't Drive 55" and "Heavy Metal," along with a slew of Led Zeppelin and Van Halen covers. Also performing will be fellow rock relics George Thorogood & The Destroyers (we bet you know "Bad to the Bone"), pioneering metal band Queensrÿche, Canadian alt-rock band The Glorious Sons, and guitar hero Nita Strauss (who currently is also in Demi Lovato's touring band).
RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, Ridgefield (Sat Sept 3)

Bikini Kill
Past Event List Riot Grrrl progenitors Bikini Kill will hark back to their Pacific Northwest roots on their first tour since disbanding in 1997. Mosh along to feminist punk anthems like "Rebel Girl" and "Double Dare Ya" after an opening set from Olympia-based post-punk band Table Sugar, who could be their musical offspring.
Crystal Ballroom, West End (Sept 8-9)

Bomba Estéreo: Deja World Tour
Past Event List Former Mercury contributor Daniela Serna wrote in 2016: "Colombian band Bomba Estereo makes psychedelic electro-cumbia, ranging from tropical party-starters to champeta-influenced folk ballads. Charismatic singer Liliana Saumet and multi-instrumentalist Simon Mejía are pioneers in the scene that also spawned acts like Dengue Dengue Dengue and Chancha Via Circuito. They’ve been working together for [17 years], combining traditional Colombian instrumentation with modern electronic sounds." Anticipate hearing tracks from their Grammy-nominated 2021 album, Deja.
Roseland Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Wed Sept 28)

Broken Social Scene
Past Event List Toronto indie pop heavies Broken Social Scene (who have a total of 27 members) will reunite once again in honor of their debut album, Feel Good Lost, a delicate and cinematic masterwork that employs experimental electronic elements and sparse vocals. The album includes contributions from A-list indie artists like Leslie Feist, Emily Haines (of Metric), and Evan Cranley (of Stars).
Wonder Ballroom, Eliot (Sept 26-27)

Cigarettes After Sex
Past Event List Yes, the band name Cigarettes After Sex is cringy, but their music is so beautiful that it doesn't really matter. The trio effortlessly revives the floaty dream pop of Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, and Julee Cruise in an accessible fashion that has garnered an impressive list of famous fans including Kylie Jenner, David Lynch, Lana Del Rey, and Françoise Hardy.
Crystal Ballroom, West End (Wed Sept 14)

Dashboard Confessional & Andrew McMahon
Past Event List High off the fumes of their eighth album, All The Truth That I Can Tell, alt-emo artifact Dashboard Confessional will return to Portland along with rock pianist Andrew McMahon (of Jack's Mannequin).
McMenamins Grand Lodge, Forest Grove (Fri Sept 2)

Demi Lovato: Holy Fvck Tour
Past Event List Back in June, Demi Lovato announced her Holy Fvck Tour, which kicked off on August 13 and will come through Portland on Sunday, September 25. The queer powerhouse singer/songwriter recently re-designated her pronouns to be more fluid (encompassing both she/her and they/them), after announcing her non-binary status in April while promoting her forthcoming album Holy Fvck. Regardless of Demi’s current gender identity, it’s indicative from recent chill-inducing performances on Instagram LiveJimmy Kimmel Live, and last year’s NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert that this Demi Lovato sounds particularly incredible live. She may be making some of the best/most authentic music of her career. While fans are still waiting with bated breath to hear Holy Fvck the album, Lovato has been dropping singles one by one. “Substance,” a fun, old-school pop-punk song sees her vocals effortlessly soaring, even after a couple epic key changes. “29” is reportedly about the 12-year age gap between her and ex-partner Wilmer Valderrama (when Lovato was 17, and he was 29). The album is expected to be a departure from Lovato’s poppy, R&B-influenced music, and instead embody a heavier emo and punk rock—early era Lovato—sound. PORTLAND MERCURY CONTRIBUTOR JENNI MOORE
Moda Center, Lloyd District (Sun Sept 25)

Flume: Palaces Tour
Past Event List Sydney-based electronic musician/producer Harley Streten, AKA Flume, will ignite the dancefloor with bops from his latest album, Palaces, which features vocal performances from Caroline Polachek, Kučka, Emma Louise, Damon Albarn (of Blur), and others. Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Bend (Wed Sept 14)

Girl in Red
Past Event List Twenty-three-year-old Norwegian singer-songwriter Marie Ulven (AKA girl in red) initially blew up on YouTube with her tearful bedroom pop tunes about heartbreak, mental health, and queer love, accompanied by picturesque music videos. She will take the stage in support of her debut full-length If I Could Make It Go Quiet, which was produced by Finneas (Billie Eilish's big brother). Aussie pop singer Blake Rose will open.
Roseland Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Wed Sept 21)

Girlpool
Past Event List In 2019 Stranger writer Jas Keimig wrote: "I feel like I grew up with Girlpool. I first listened to them in my late teens when I started experimenting with high-waisted jeans and being more open and vulnerable. Girlpool pair with this stage of life surprisingly well." The duo, who recently announced their breakup, will embark on one last tour promoting their new electronic-driven album, Forgiveness, produced by experimental artist Yves Tumor.
Wonder Ballroom, Eliot (Thurs Sept 8)

GIVĒON
Past Event List Known best for features on Drake's "Chicago Freestyle" and Justin Bieber's "Peaches," chart-topping R&B artist Givēon will stop by with songs from his debut album, Give or Take, which explores themes of fame, love, and heartbreak.
Roseland Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Tues Sept 20)

Gorillaz
Past Event List British alt-rock band Gorillaz, known for their (literally) animated live performances and early aughts staples like "Feel Good Inc." will hit the road on their North American tour just after the release of their new single "Cracker Island," which features psych-funk heavy Thundercat. They will be joined by hip-hop duo Earthgang.

Interpol + Spoon: Lights, Camera, Factions Tour Past Event List

Beloved hip-hop duo City Girls will get the crowd pumped up with their bangers "Act Up" and "Twerk."
Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Lloyd District (Sun Sept 25)

Jackson Browne
Past Event List It's understandable to be indignant that soft rocker Jackson Browne's been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (He's in; Mott the Hoople isn't. I know!) But let me list the achievements of Mr. Browne, apart from the fact that his hair has not appeared to change a single strand since the cover of his 1972 debut album. 1) He dated Nico when he was 18 years old. That's right, 18 years old. She was 10 years older than him. 2) The terrific guitar solo—performed by Jesse Edwin Davis—on "Doctor, My Eyes." 3) Um... hmm. Oh! That one song on Running on Empty... no, not that one; that one's awful. I mean the one called "Shaky Town." That one's pretty all right. 4) Okay. That's all I got. Honestly, the Nico thing is probably 95 percent of why he's in the Hall of Fame. He also wrote "These Days" for her, which is not a bad song at all—Don Henley did a recording of it with Portland's own Blind Pilot, weirdly. Oh, one more! 5) "Somebody's Baby" from the Fast Times soundtrack. That song is a totally legit jam, no foolin'. NED LANNAMANN
Edgefield, Troutdale (Wed Sept 14)

Kehlani: Blue Water Road Trip
Past Event List Long ago in 2017, Mercury writer Jenni Moore wrote of Kehlani: "The first time I saw the Oakland-raised artist was at Bumbershoot 2015, and I’ll never forget it. When they took the stage with those sultry dance moves alongside their adorable DJ Noodles, the crowd went batshit. It was plain to see that Kehlani had already built themself a cult following of sneaker-loving, tattoo-sporting, badass young women who knew the words to every uplifting, confident song. I was shook by how beautifully they sang live—their voice was strong and chillingly soulful." This time around, Kehlani will support their recently released album, Blue Water Road Trip, which examines themes such as spirituality, sexuality, and love. Trap superstar Rico Nasty and viral singer-songwriter Destin Conrad will join.
Theater of the Clouds, Lloyd District (Sat Sept 17)

Kikagaku Moyo Past Event List
From humble beginnings busking on the streets of Tokyo, Kikagaku Moyo (whose name translates to "geometric patterns") is now touring the world with their folk-inflected psychedelic space jams. Considering that the band announced their disbandment earlier this year, you won't want to miss the opportunity to hear the kaleidoscopic tunes performed one last time. Portland-based electronic artist Vive la Void will open.
Aladdin Theater, Brooklyn (Tues Sept 27)

Kim Gordon
Past Event List The punk icon and eternal kool thing (best known for her time in Sonic Youth) will stop by Portland on tour, presumably playing songs off her 2019 solo debut, No Home Record. Gordon also released the collaborative album, At Issue, earlier this year with experimental guitarist Loren Connors. Experimental project Sea Moss will provide local support.
Mississippi Studios, Boise (Sept 12-13)

Korn with Evanescence
Past Event List Pioneering nü-metal crew Korn will return to the Pacific Northwest with some fresh material from their new album, Requiem (don't worry, we bet they'll still play "Freak on a Leash"). They will be joined by goth rock heavies Evanescence, whose 2003 hit "Bring Me To Life" recently reached number one on iTunes.
RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, Ridgefield (Fri Sept 16)

Bands across eras, such as '90s psych-pop heavies The Dandy Warhols, contemporary “sad rock” stars Soft Kill, trailblazing '80s post-punk outfit Bush Tetras, and many more are guaranteed to deliver memorable sets.

Expect to hear tracks from the album as well as his pinnacle Y2K bangers like "Hot In Herre" and "Dilemma."
Oregon State Fairgrounds, Salem (Mon Sept 5)

Edgefield, Troutdale (Wed Sept 7)

ODESZA - The Last Goodbye Tour
Past Event List Electronic duo ODESZA will make their return to Portland with material from their new release, The Last Goodbye. The album features contributions from a wide variety of artists including electronic composer/vocalist Julianna Barwick, pop singer-songwriter Izzy Bizu, legendary soul singer Bettye LaVette, and more. Don't miss opening sets from like-minded electronica artists Sylvan Esso, Elderbrook, and Nasaya.
RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, Ridgefield (Thurs Sept 22)

Pavement Past Event List
Indie rock's favorite cynics Pavement are back on the road for the first time in twelve years with a new gang of fans, thanks to the obscure B-side "Harness Your Hopes" mysteriously rising in Spotify streams (the song, by the way, includes the eerily resonant lyric "the freaks have stormed the White House," despite being recorded 25 years ago). NYC art-rock band Guerilla Toss will support.
Edgefield, Troutdale (Fri Sept 16)

The Pretty Reckless Past Event List
Hard rock quartet The Pretty Reckless, led by singer-songwriter and former actress Taylor Momsen (whom you might remember as Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas? or Gossip Girl’s Little J), are back after a five-year hiatus with a new album, Death by Rock and Roll. They’ll play tracks off of the new album alongside blues-grunge artist Ayron Jones. And no, they will not be playing "Where Are You Christmas."

Stereolab
Past Event List Throughout the band’s initial 18-year run, Stereolab felt like an underground music lover’s dream. Led by guitarist Tim Gane and vocalist Laetitia Sadier, the self-styled “groop” flooded their discography with motorik Krautrock, lush exotica, drum ‘n’ bass, Tropicália, and baroque pop. And their subsequent influence has been felt throughout the indie universe and even into hip-hop (Pharrell says the band’s “Flower Called Nowhere” is his favorite song to get sucked off to). Roseland Theater, Old Town-Chinatown (Fri Sept 23)

TLC

Twenty One Pilots - The Icy Tour
Past Event List It’s not surprising Ohio duo Twenty One Pilots have become so successful. As songwriters, they’ve ripped bits of influence from around the proven-popular-music landscape—from the approachability of Bruno Mars to the anthem-chasing of the Lumineers and plainspoken lyricism of Macklemore—and disguised their pandering with enough face paint and stage energy to seem edgy or experimental to the average middle-schooler (but safe enough for their parents), and fake-rapped all the way to the bank. Their ability to tickle the familiarity sensors in the minds of casual young music fans and whisper nonsensical angst rhymes that are vague enough to feign artsy-ness yet simplistic enough to not fly over anyone’s head must appear an admirable trait to a tastemaker with a checklist somewhere, but does that mean we have to let it pollute the minds of our young? Hide your children. TODD HAMM
