The Chattering Crow: What's on your nightstand?

What's on your nightstand?

Today I read what Marie Kondo keeps on her nightstand, so I changed out my nightstand--the one with one tiny drawer and a shelf--for a smaller one with six drawers. On my nightstand:

1. a lamp

2. a box of Kleenex

3. a Kiwi Cafe mug with pens and scissors

4. a mug that says, "I'd much rather be on the WATER," bought in the Kiwi Cafe, full of reading glasses.

5. Hand sanitizer dispenser

6. a glass of water

Marie Kondo had hand lotion on hers. I have hand lotion in drawer #3 along with Tylenol, aspirin, wet wipes, Icy Hot in a tube, and Icy Hot pads. I don't use the lotion all that much except when I want to scratch something until it's raw. Then I pull out the lotion.

The top drawer is full of small writing pads and one large pad. You can't have too many writing pads. And they do belong in the top drawer. You never know when you'll get a brilliant idea in the night. Marie Kondo has a notepad on top of her nightstand, but mine isn't big enough.

The 2nd drawer has prescription drugs that I take daily and also eyedrops and Afrin for when my nose stuffs up.

The 4th drawer has miscellaneous jewelry and a small notebook that is mostly filled up, and I'm not ready to throw out.

The 5th drawer has hearing devices for my iPhone, my computer. Some of these I have bought and some I got on airplanes. There's also a red scrunchy in there and four pics of me and Sally from a photo booth from Sammy and Peter's wedding reception.

The sixth drawer has a thick snake-like extension electric chord.                              Who knows when I might yet need another of these? A plate hanger. I do like to decorate with plates. And finally, some fill-in the blank postcards that I could use soon.

Tom helped move my bed a foot over. Tomorrow I'll take the other night stand downstairs, along with an upholstered chair in good condition and set them next to the dumpsters. It's the best way to get rid of furniture. People pick them up.

So now I have just one night stand where I used to have two. And I have room for my favorite  upholstered chair and a pouff in front of  the window. Yes, I'm so satisfied with myself. Thumbs up, Marie Kondo for the idea.
