There was a brain scientist who had a stroke who did a TED talk. She had fully recovered, and that was the most interesting and informative thing i had ever seen.
Her name is Jill Bolte Taylor. She also wrote a book with the same title as her TED talk, It's called My Stroke of Genius. very good book, I recommend anyone who's interested pick it up.
Reggie Watts did a great TED talk.
I've referred back to this talk by Dan Pallotta about how we look at charities time and time again. It definitely changed my view.
