I've heard from two people on FB that got the AG-PCR test at CMC and were allowed to board a westjet flight. Not conclusive evidence I know but encouraging. I'm on the look out for reports of people being denied boarding with the CMC test.
What a surprise. Saying one thing and doing another..

The Canadian Government has past its dirty work to the airlines. It's the airlines employees here that have to check your covid test before boarding. Therefore we should expect confusion and the checking not be stable. (like opening a bank account here from one person or bank to another the requirements change)

The airlines did protest the CDN government that they did not have enough time to prepare and train their employees!
I suspect this dirty work the airlines have to do is part of the ongoing negotiation with the CDN government for their bailout package.
It's like shooting themself in the foot.

I wonder how many other countries in the world are requiring their citizens to pass the test before returning home.

Clearly any quick test for covid available from CMC is not being accepted according to reports. Maybe if the paper has the letters PCR on it somewhere that is enough. Still too early to tell and I haven't seen a test printout out so I can't say for certain what the airline staff see when you hand it to them. The CMC option seems best if it will work reliably to get you on your flight. The cost is about the same as the labs in Pueto Plata and the results from CMC appear to be available in hours not days. Assuming CMC does not run out of testing supplies and the lab doesn't get backlogged due to the increased demand from travelers. I don't think CMC or any doctor there would have any part in just providing a negative test document for a fee if for some reason a legit test can't be performed.

The UK have introduced this requirement today; looks like the way things are going, then finally it will be proof of vaccination to get on a flight

I don't know how the airline would handle a challenge to the Canadian Charter of Rights.

Under Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, it guarantees Canadian citizens and permanent residents the right to travel between provinces and territories,

and to leave and enter Canada as they wish.

These rights – considered “democratic” rights – are not subject to the Charter’s notwithstanding clause, meaning the government cannot pass legislation or

regulations that limit Canadians’ freedom of mobility.

The are now starting a pilot program at Pearson International Airport. All International Passengers are to receive Covid-19 testing upon arrival.

Failure to comply, or receive a positive test, results in a 14 day confinement at Government designated facilities at the passengers expense.

I am not sure if this would be followed by a further 14 day self-confinement at the passengers residence

The Government could get around this by closing down its infrastructure as long as they could satisfy the courts

Airlines can probably make their own rules as to who they let on board. I am betting those that have a positive test, be it the required RT-PCR or the incorrect AG-PCR test probably won't be boarding here in the DR.

I suppose Canadians can always fly to the northern US and then walk across the border. From what I read, Panama City airport does on site testing which makes a lot of sense to me.

The testing at Pearson is voluntary.
Now that all passengers are supposed to have a negative test within 72 hours of boarding their flight, this seems redundant.

People who show up without the proper negative test or who don`t have an acceptable quarantine plan may be forced to do their quarantine in a federal facility.

This warning is from CDC which is American (USA) has nothing to do about this thread which is about Travelling back to Canada,

Ah sorry! that was meant for those who were suggesting that Canadians should return through the USA to avoid the test

Or, if they never came, they would not have to travel back. People are coming in all of the tme, even from Canada.

Canadians cannot drive (or walk, or maybe take a boat across Lake Ontario if it isn't frozen) across the border from the US to Canada?

Since when?

That would be Canada Customs you are avoiding. You would clear US immigration at your entry point into the US not out.
