And just like that…Sex and the City is returning to the small screen. Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the news of a revival of the much-loved New York-set show on Instagram earlier this year, posting a video featuring scenes of the city paired with one of Carrie Bradshaw's signature voiceovers. "I couldn’t help but wonder... where are they now? X, SJ," reads the caption. The latest development comes in the form of a first teaser trailer, which is narrated by Carrie and features a montage from the new series. “They say some things never change,” Carrie says, as clips of Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Carrie flash across the screen, “but the truth is, life is full of surprises.”

The series will be called And Just Like That; here's what all we know about it:

And Just Like That will premiere in December.

Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that the new spinoff will be available for streaming on HBO Max starting this December—and the official premiere date has since been confirmed for December 9.

The first teaser, which was released in November, offered fans their first glimpse of the gang back in action, and highlighted Sarah Jessica Parker's return as Carrie alongside Kristin Davis's Charlotte and Cynthia Nixon's Miranda.

The announcement video, which was posted in early October, also included a few clips of Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis shooting the new series. Watch below.

Parker is reprising the role of Carrie Bradshaw.

Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda in the original series, and Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte, also shared the teaser on Instagram, and are returning to the series as well.

“I think that Cynthia, Kristin, and I are all excited about the time that has passed,” Parker recently told Vanity Fair. “You know, who are they in this world now? Have they adapted? What part have they played? Where have they fallen short as women, as friends, and how are they finding their way? Did they move with momentum? Are they like some people who are confused, threatened, nervous [by what’s happening in the world]? I’m so curious and excited to see how the writers imagine these women today.”

In a new teaser trailer from HBO, the three leading ladies make up the majority of the clips, which offers glimpses into each of their personal lives. Charlotte and Harry attend their daughter Lily’s piano recital; Miranda, Steve, and a teenage Brady go in for a warm embrace; Carrie and Big share a kiss. While much of the footage appears to be a continuation of the original storylines, it also promises many new delights. Watch the teaser trailer below:

John Corbett, who played Carrie's one-time boyfriend Aidan Shaw in the series, will also return for the show.

“I’m going to do the show,” he told Page Six, describing the news as "very exciting" and revealing that he thinks he will be in more than one episode.

“I like all those people, they’ve been very nice to me,” he said.

In addition, Mario Cantone is coming back as Anthony Marentino and the late Willie Garson, who passed away in September, will play Carrie's beloved friend, Standford Blatch.

Kim Cattrall will not appear in the series as Samantha Jones.

Kim Cattrall will not appear in the series as Samantha Jones. In several interviews, she has made it clear that she is finished with the franchise.

Per EW, when a commenter asked Parker about Catrall's absence from the revival, the actress responded: "No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would. Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do."

HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys seemingly spoke to how the series will address Samantha's absence in a recent interview with TV Line.

“They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s,” she said.

“Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave,” Bloys continued. “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life… They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”

There will be some new faces on the series.

Of course, no one can replace Samantha Jones, but the series will introduce a number of new friends to Carrie's circle. Per TV Line, the show is "dramatically expanding Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte’s social circle with roughly a half dozen new characters. And three of those newbies will be full-fledged series regulars and women of color."

The Guardian reported that Nicole Ari Parker, best known for her role on Empire, will take on the most Samantha-esque role in the reboot. In the teaser, we see her debut as she enjoys a meal with Charlotte. The Guardian said Parker "will reportedly replace Cattrall as the fourth member of the New York friend group," playing "documentary-maker Lisa Todd Wexley" along with, per The Hollywood Reporter, "a Park Avenue mother of three." Parker also wrote on Instagram that Hamilton's Christopher Jackson will also appear in the series, though his role is still unclear.

Another fresh face joining the cast is Grey's Anatomy alum Sara Ramírez, who will play Che Diaz, a "nonbinary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast on which Carrie Bradshaw is regularly featured," per the Huffington Post. In the teaser, we see Diaz recording with Carrie.

Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman are also joining the series. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Choudhury (Little Fires Everywhere, Homeland) will play Seema Patel, a self-made, powerhouse Manhattan real estate broker." Pittman, known for her work on The Morning Show, "will play Dr. Nya Wallace, a brilliant and challenging professor at Columbia Law School."

SJP shared a first look at the first episode on Instagram.

The script of the first episode, that is. It's called "Hello It's Me."

HBO also released an official image of the three stars, walking on a New York City street.

HBO included a new clip in their HBO Max trailer.

In a new compilation trailer for their upcoming shows, HBO slipped in a sneak peek at And Just Like That. The clip begins at 25 seconds and features Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. In a second shot, viewers see Parker embrace Chris Noth (aka Mr. Big). Watch below.

The show will address COVID-19.

Parker also told Vanity Fair that the pandemic will “obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in. And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all.”

This isn't the first spinoff of Sex and the City.

The original show, which ran for six seasons on HBO between 1998-2004, previously inspired two feature films and a prequel series called The Carrie Diaries, which starred AnnaSophia Robb as a young Carrie, and ran for two seasons on The CW.
