According to letters to son and daughter from Samuel and Jean by Mary Mcguffin on Oct 20, 2009, Jean (Jane) Reid, who married Samuel Shannon around 1750 in Rockfish, Lancaster County, PA, died in 1807 in Davidson County, Tennessee and is buried at Elm Hill Pike, off of Murfreesboro Rd, in back of what was known as Ridley's Fort. Her husband, Samuel Shannon, died on 4 Oct 1811 about 7 miles Northwest of Nashville and was laid to rest in a grave on the banks of the Cumberland River. The exact location has been lost.

Jean Reid was the daughter of Col. John R. Reid and Lady Mary Jane Stewart.
