HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The City of Hudson’s Police Commissioner has resigned after nine months in the role. Peter Volkmann is currently being investigated by a number of agencies including the New York State Police and New York State Comptroller’s Office.

Volkmann has also been suspended from his role as Chatham Police Chief for 30 days.

In a statement, the Village of Chatham said the suspension was related to the investigation but is an administrative action and “should not be construed as an accusation of wrongdoing or as a disciplinary measure.”

They also confirmed a search warrant was executed on September 17, and information was retrieved from police department computers. No village or police department property was taken during the search.

In a Facebook post, Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson thanked Volkmann for his work as commissioner.

This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
